Slate Wine Bar — Restaurant in Gratallops

Cannot recommend this place highly enough. We stayed overnight in the village and this seemed to be one of the few places open on a Sunday night. How I wish we'd been able to have several meals there! We thought we only wanted a glass or two of wine but stayed for several more than that! We had already eaten at lunchtime but I wish we'd had dinner here as the food looked incredible from what other people were having. The guy running the bar was absolutely brilliant and was extremely knowledgeable about wine, helping us in our quest to taste some amazing wines from the area. We couldn't resist the food and just had a cheeseboard...even that was incredible! Excellent value for money all round. We sat out on the terrace and it was all spell-binding. We may well come back to Gratallops just for this place! Beautiful village, though, and well worth spending a few days here enjoying great...

I was expecting an upscale wine bar showcasing local priorat wines, but I was unfortunately disappointed.

Food menu was very limited - mainly consists of cured meat, cheese platters, hamburgers, bikinis, etc. More gourmet tapas were not on offer.

On the wine side, I was surprised to only see 3 options of red wine by the glass. I tried their premium one (15 euro the glass - quite expensive by Spanish standards - 3 to 5x the average cost), but I cannot say I was impressed at all. Perhaps the bottle had been open for too long…

Overall, I was certainly disappointed. It came across as overpriced standard...

In short the food was excellent and service personal and friendly. We had the burrata which was served on tomato slices the size of my head and perfectly seasoned. We also ordered the leak which was grilled to perfection and topped with a lovely romesco sauce.

The star of the show however was the pork ribs which was slow cooked (or sous vide) and fall off the bone tender. But the honey sauce that glazed the dish was the super star. A must try!

Manager was super friendly and had great recommendations. You should stop by for a meal if...
