This hotel is a catfish. From looking at photos you expect a very modern, well kept and enjoyable holiday. This is not the case. Me and my mum had booked to stay here for 10 nights and the whole duration the main swimming pool was broken. We were constantly lied to by both Jet2 and the hotel saying it will be fixed tomorrow and even on some occasions saying it had been fixed and it just needs to cool down. This was not the case. They did provide with a small cold dip pool that normally you have to pay to use. The fact they normally charge money for this area is absurd. It is completely filthy, as you will see from photos. Every single day we had to ask for this to be cleaned and it never was cleaned properly, and still had so many bugs floating in the water, bird poo everywhere and green grime around the edge of the pool. The hotel manager was very dismissive of every issue and said he would get things fixed and never did. None of the umbrellas worked around the pool so you could not get any shade. He said they worked, when they didn't, then said he would get someone to fix them. And they were never fixed. Around the seating area for the bar for over a week was thick clumps of hair and cobwebs. A few hotel staff members were so friendly and kind (Jordi, Diagne) but other members of staff lied about knowing the pool was broken. This completely ruined our hotel stay. I do not believe when reading other positive reviews that they have been written genuinely as this hotel is not clean, not maintained and is definitely not recently renovated. Anything that needed fixing they have just painted over in white paint, and nothing gets cleaned. There was one day that they cleaned the pool very early in the morning and brought out all new seating areas. The cleaner informed us she had more cleaning to do on that day as the hotel was having professional photos done. When we had been constantly asking for it to be cleaned they said they believe it is already clean when it visibly wasn't. If they believed this they would not have cleaned it as it should have been for their photos when they do not do this any other day. This is very frustrating that the hotel will clean their facilities to look good in their photos to get people to stay under false pretences. DO NOT STAY HERE. The locals know this hotel by the name faulty towers and that is very accurate. Everything breaks constantly. The air conditioning in the room never properly works. Our shower faced a big window to street view so everyone could see and in the bathroom there is no shelves or hanging space. The balcony never once got cleaned and there is nowhere to hang towels or swim costumes. The food at breakfast is very average and sometimes not cooked properly. The snack menu at lunch has good options and is tasty. Drinks are super overpriced. Overall do not recommend this hotel, it is definitely not a 4 star and not worth anyone's...
Read moreWe stayed in a standard room—looked almost exactly like the photos online. That said, it did feel a bit tight, especially around the entrance area. The bed was comfortable, although the pillows were too flat for our liking—soft but not supportive enough. We appreciated the double curtains to block the heat, though the blackout curtain didn’t fully cover the window, letting in early sunlight that woke us up. The balcony view wasn’t anything special, but having one was a nice bonus.
The bathroom was functional but clearly mid-renovation: visible paint marks around the cornisa, peeling walls near the sink, and a shower tube that came loose easily. Noise was another downside, as the elevator and staircase were right outside, making the room quite loud at times, with additional street noise even with the windows closed.
Breakfast was decent and varied, although the juice and coffee machines were occasionally out of service. The scrambled eggs weren’t great—tasting somewhat artificial—so I opted for fried eggs or an omelet instead, which took a bit longer but were better. Shout-out to the waiters, who were welcoming and attentive every morning.
The pool area was the real highlight: clean, organized, and never too crowded, even on busy days. The sunbeds were comfortable and adjustable, and while the pool bar generally offered solid drinks and snacks, we did have one piña colada that was underwhelming (and oddly garnished with just a pineapple slice on top). Still, minor detail. The synthetic grass is no longer around the pool, and honestly it looks so much better!
Another surprise was the gym—my second favorite feature. Most hotel gyms are a letdown, but this one was well-equipped with dumbbells, kettlebells, yoga mats, elastic bands, a jump rope, treadmills, a bike, an elliptical, and a multifunctional machine. It also had a nice view of the pool and AC, making it pleasant to use even during hot hours.
Finally, reception was top-notch: friendly, helpful, and professional. They lent us a beach umbrella and even let us enjoy the pool a bit longer after check-out, which was a thoughtful touch.
Overall, a great stay with excellent amenities, though the room and breakfast could use some polishing. Would definitely recommend, especially for those who value poolside relaxation and a...
Read moreHotel Ankaa treats its guests inhumanely and disrespectfully. Two months before we wanted to stay at Hotel Ankaa we contacted the 'front office manager' and asked about the possibilities of staying in June. We were promised a beautiful room, quiet, with a sea view. Everything could be arranged. Following this contact we made our booking. Then our booking was cancelled out of the blue TWO WEEKS before our stay, via an impersonal and meaningless automatic message in the mail. The reason for the cancellation was not even mentioned! In complete panic, we tried to call the hotel. But they were not reachable by phone! We therefore immediately sent an email, asking what was going on. And whether this was a mistake, especially considering our contact in advance! After a few days of anxious waiting for a response, it was clear to us that we were left to our own devices and had to figure it out for ourselves. We never got a response! We had to make a new booking elsewhere at the last minute and pay a lot more (almost 800 euros more!), because in the eyes of other hotels we were booking “late” and the prices were higher now. Angry and disappointed I sent another email to Hotel Ankaa, for the way we were treated and for completely ignoring us. I indicated that I would write a bad review if they were not going to do help us or compensate us in any way. We got a very short and impersonal, standardized message back that they could not continue our booking due to a delay in the refurbishment of the building. Something like that does not come out of the blue, it was known much earlier than two weeks before our stay. They simply waited as long as possible to drop this news, in the hope that “maybe” they could still be in time for opening. At our expense! And then ignored us and left us to our fate! When we were in Mallorca we drove to Hotel Ankaa en check the facts for ourselves. To our great surprise there were not even windows in the rooms and the hotel looked like a complete ruin. Hotel Ankaa, shame on you for not treating us better. I hope everyone who reads this, sees this as a sign to NOT...
