Calypso Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Manacor

Exceptional! I honestly don't know if the food or the staff were better, but what a competition. We showed up here after a tour of the Drach caves with 8 folks total, 5 adults and 3 children. Our server was so kind from the first moment, the bartender was kind and playful. The entire staff worked so hard the whole time we were there in spite of the restaurant not being busy at the time. Between service, the bartender power washed the deck and the wait staff cleaned and prepped. We NEVER felt rushed OR neglected. The wait staff was responsive all the time, but I get the feeling that if we had wanted to stay all evening we could. Our kids fell asleep after eating and we moved some chairs around (after asking) so that we could see the bands playing in the park right outside the restaurant. I cannot say enough about the staff. The tapas was varied and delicious. We especially enjoyed the mushroom croquets, the Fried plantains with guacamole and prawns, and the prawns and sopressata. Called tonight at 854pm lots of spare tables,couple in front walked in and sat down, my wife and I asked for a table for two,waitress said one moment then disappeared for 5 minutes came back abruptly said no. I can't belief it as place was half empty and no tables said reserved. A table for 4 behind us were told the same very abrupt answer. Ambiente: Das Ambiente ist sehr Einladend und gemütlich gestaltet, das Calypso liegt wie viele der Bars/Restaurants an der Hafenpromenade.

Service: Der Service ist Hervorragend, man kümmert sich gut um seine Gäste und wird auch kompetent in sämtlichen Belangen Beraten.

Essen/Trinken: Die Speisen sind sehr schön angerichtet und schmecken hervorragend.

Die Karte ist kleiner als in den größeren Restaurants, was ich Persönlich als Vorteil betrachte, da ich auf Mallorca gut auf Pasta, Pizza und Co. verzichten kann.

Die Sangria dort ist sehr zu Empfehlen, sie schmeckt sehr frisch und leicht im Vergleich zu manch anderer Sangria auf der Insel.

Fazit: Waren bis jetzt zwei Mal dort Essen und planen während unserem verbleibenden Aufenthalt noch den ein oder anderen Abend dort zu Verbringen.

Ambience: The ambience is very inviting and comfortable, the Calypso is like many of the bars/restaurants on the harbor promenade.

Service: The service is excellent, they take good care of their guests and are also competently advised on all matters.

Food/Drinks: The dishes are very nicely prepared and taste excellent.

The menu is smaller than in the larger restaurants, which I personally see as an advantage, since I can do without pasta, pizza and the like on Mallorca.

The sangria there is highly recommended, it tastes very fresh and light compared to some other sangria on the island.
