Finca San Antonio — Hotel in Mijas

Not for families We stayed in one of the penthouse apartments during August. The apartment itself was of a high standard with beautiful views. However the 'Community - residents' have recently (in the past few weeks) employed a lifeguard to manage the rules of the pool between the hours of 3pm & 9pm. On the first my 12 year old son was forbidden from jumping or diving jnto the large pool & I was even reprimanded for picking him up & throwing him into the water whilst in the pool myself. What transpired was that all the families used the pool until 3pm after which it was virtually empty. No inflatables allowed, no beach balls and strict curfew at 9pm, in other words no fun. When I rebuked the President of the 'community' I was simply given parenting advice which made me very angry. The President would watch over the pool from her apartment and call the lifeguard if there were any indiscretions in the pool. When challenged further the Spanish law was cited as the reason. I have a contrary view which is the residents have to be in control and my gripe is that none of the rules and regulations were advertised in the detail prior to the booking. My son stopped using the pool which was a big disappointment to him. We went to stay with friends who were not to far away and had a pool that the children could have fun in. This was all a big shame as the complex is a great venue but managed by a bunch of job worths who shouldn't allow private rental of the apartments. The last straw was watching another resident and the lifeguard give a young french girl a telling off for daring to use one of thier 'personal sun loungers'. She was visibly upset. Incidentally there were no sun loungers around the pool, another example of resident control to discourage families enjoying the facilities * I would strongly urge you to look elsewhere if you have a young family or want to engage in the tradition of enjoying yourself whilst on holiday as we were not made to feel welcome at all.* There are plenty of other options in the area to rent. PS - I don't normally do reviews of any kind....

Stayed here for 2 weeks and do not want to leave. So clean, so peaceful. Large apartment...
