Hotel Botaniq is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. An amazing pool with lots of sun beds + sun beds on the beach which is about a 2 minute walk away from the hotel. ||My friend and I had an absolutely amazing time here! It was so beautiful and relaxing. ||- [ ] In terms of service, we have mixed reviews. Almost everybody was pleasant, including the cleaners who were very sweet! Jade was absolutely amazing!!! She definitely made our holiday much better by being extremely attentive and sweet. She gave us lots of great recommendations for Majocar which we enjoyed throughly. I would also like to say it was very nice for the hotel to let us use the facilities at hotel even after we checked out since our flight was at night and even provided us with fresh towels to shower before we left. Unfortunately, we found one staff member very cold and at times rude. On our last night we were extremely excited to have a meal at the hotel restaurant, when we arrived to the restaurant we asked if we could have a table for two and were coldly told “no.” Thats all she said so we were slightly confused, we asked if they were full and she said “yes all full” and stared blankly at us as if expecting us to just leave. We told her we didn’t mind waiting if any table would free up and she told us there were completely full. Now I understand that it’s normal for a restaurant to be full however, we found the situation extremely uncomfortable because she was speaking to us very rudely as if irritated or annoyed that we were there. Since we were planning on having dinner there, we had not thought about where to go in case it was full so we asked her if she could recommend us something nearby - this is a very normal request to ask a hotel especially as tourist since the people who work there will know the area really well. She looked at me as if I was stupid before saying “I don’t know there’s so many restaurants nearby you’ll find one if you walk out.” We were extremely dumbfounded by this response, especially because this is our first time to Mojacar, eventually we managed to get a restaurant name from her and headed there for dinner. Overall, we had a great experience with service but the experience with this server (I believe she was Russian) made me give the hotel a lower review because it left us feeling slightly heated and extremely uncomfortable since we knew we would see her again the next morning. ||We managed to get a table for lunch our last day at the restaurant but made sure to check in the morning with Jade if we needed to make a reservation in case we would experience a similar situation as the night before and she told us not to worry as she would save a table for us. The food st the restaurant was absolutely amazing!! No...
Read moreI feel really sad to be writing not a shining review because we were so excited to visit this hotel for a belated honeymoon trip. It's hard to rate everything all as one and so I will try to explain things separately;
We booked this hotel in May for 3 nights in August. we contacted the hotel before to discuss something regarding a health condition I have and they were so kind and helpful - we had high hopes from before the trip even began so that was great.
On the day of our stay beginning we were called to ask what time we'd be checking in, we felt that was very courteous and a good sign.
When we arrived at 2pm the time we advised we'd be there; this is where we felt things began to change - although the drive to the hotel was lovely a long the sea line and the view from the hotel of the beach was spectacular and very exciting to see just how close we'd be to the beach... When we arrived we felt very underwhelmed. Only one staff member it seemed - who was busy waitressing so we were hardly greeted, another couple arrived at the same time and so the check ins were sort of done together.
We weren't given any welcome, and information about the hotel, (we read later the hotel has a boat! Massage services! Osteopathy services?!?) We weren't told anything.
We were shown to our room where we were told what time breakfast was and that we would have pink towels at a later time in the day to use for the beach / pool.
The staff member wasn't unpleasant by any means, all the staff we met seemed like nice people.
On initial entry to our room we were really excited, the palms trees and the quirky room with the stone bathtub and double shower we were so excited!
However after 20 mins or so of unpacking we realised the room was extremely dirty; we couldn't walk barefoot because there was dirt all over the floor. The showers have black mould in them, rust all over the metal piping around the taps and shower heads etc.
Dirt had been swept into the corners of the room (I have photos of all of these things but I won't post them here unless the hotel asks me to).
A used plastic cup had been left on the floor between the sink and the bath tub (this plastic cup didn't leave the whole time we were there so a clear sign the rooms aren't being cleaned properly, it merely rolled further behind the bath and then I saw it on the last day. Again I have photos of this).
The room was extremely, extremely damp. We used the air con on dry setting most of the time but we've still returned with humid clothes that didn't even leave the suitcase. It was damp and mildewy smell. So uncomfortable to sleep in a humid damp bed.
On first impressions the outside area is a...
Read moreThe pool looks like a stunning mermaid lagoon until you get inside it, the tiles are rusted, mouldy, and sharp. The smell of the water like iron and rust stays on your skin for days. The covers for the beds are missing so they're just simply wooden structures. The pool showers don't work very well.
There were some really basic things that disappointed; I asked for a pineapple juice to have by the pool but we were told there was 'no juice whatsoever", the next day on Thursday morning there were no bananas
one night we ordered room service hoping to enjoy our rooms balcony and a romantic evening - but the attitude reaction of this order was almost as if the room service was being done as some kind of favour? (Also €9 for a 2 egg omlette between a dry baguette with a side of package mayonnaise isn't luxury and isn't worth €9). It's worth noting here that there's no telephone in the room for reception.
There isn't enough active service in my opinion between staff and customers, for the price of €260 a night and only 14 rooms of which weren't all occupied Wednesday to Friday - I would expect at least a "can I help you with anything / can I get you a menu?" (By the pool there was only a QR code menu on Wednesday day and they weren't there at all for the rest of the time).
The rooms filithy rusty and so damp.
The sunbeds both by the pool and on the beach are a positive to mention they're large and sturdy and feel.luxurious and comfy to lay on.
The proximity to the beach is wonderful.
The stone sink and bath in our room which were one of the features we really wanted to enjoy we couldn't enjoy because the bath was dirty and cracked. The tap was full of black mould and rust (I have photos of this again). The stone sink isn't fit for purpose as the tap doesn't reach far enough so water literally pours down the back of the sink flooding the floor only adding to the mould and humidity and dampness.
For me, the lack of cleanliness and quite frankly the dirt and mould which isn't healthful whatsoever, isn't acceptable in any hotel let alone for €260 a night and I cant understand how these glaringly obvious things aren't dealt with immediately.
It's such a shame because it's adult only, beautiful location and has the potential to be incredible but I am so sadly...
