Nice location outside the center of town – 15 minute walk to the cathedral and in a quiet neighborhood. There is a café in the front of the property (there is a sign on the street) and the rooms are in the back part of the building. We did not hear any street noise or other loud noises despite having the windows open overnight. ||||There is no elevator to rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor; for safety, there are hall lights on a timer. The room was a comfortable size with a double bed and desk/chair and a lounge chair. There is also a small closet with shelves, and still plenty of room for our two small suitcases. The bathroom was a bit small with a corner capsule shower. ||||For those with cars, there is a small parking lot behind the hostal for about 7 or so cars; street parking was nonexistent in the evening, so even a small lot is very much appreciated. Checkin/checkout is conducted in the café; breakfast is also available there for an added (reasonable) fee.||||We were warmly met by a young woman who spoke good English. We asked about the local sites and she offered us her last map; she also gave us some of her favorite spots in town. The other woman, quite cheerful for working late and then getting up early the next day, spoke a little English and with my bad Spanish, we were able to understand that we could use the tap water for drinking; she was kind enough to offer us a bottle, but we had several already to refill.||||Based on the location and condition of the room and property, overall, this property meets expectation. However, the delightful hospitality extended and the off-street parking means the PR Tambre exceeds my...

Read moreI visited here for two nights after completing the Camino de Santiago. ||||I stayed in room 22. ||||The location of the Pension is very good. It’s about fifteen minutes walk from the cathedral, although there are some very steep hills to navigate, in case you have difficulty walking. I took a taxi from the city centre on a Friday night and it was €7 including tip. Bus route 4 passes the front door and the bus costs €1 or you can get a multi pass which brings it down to €0.60. ||||Check in was efficient and friendly. The girl running the place has very good English. Her father who also works there doesn’t, but is very keen to help. I was given a map of the town along with some personal recommendations of what to see. I was also lent a charger. I get the impression that she will do anything to help and do it with a smile on her face. ||||My room was more than adequate. Very clean, comfortable bed, looking out over a valley, nice en suite bathroom with shower, toilet and wash hand basin. There is a TV but doesn’t have any international stations. Lots of power sockets in the room and also some form of built in FM radio, which I didn’t try. It isn’t The Ritz, but it isn’t priced as such. ||||I didn’t eat a meal there, but I did call past for a beer which I had with the father. Although I speak no Spanish and he no English, we understood each enough to enjoy each other’s company for ten minutes.||||Check out was quick and efficient. ||||I’d...
