In September 2022, my group of four women booked Ultreya Tours a year in advance for 8 nights on the Camino Frances September 5-12, 2023. We stipulated two hotel rooms with two twin beds, which Nellie Meunier at Ultreya assured us of.
On September 24, 2022 hotels were confirmed by Nellie. We did not note her hotel booking dates error at this time. She booked 3 hotels in separate cities for September 5, and no hotels September 7 & 8.
On August 23, 2023, we noted the date errors, which is when Nellie confirmed she had incorrectly booked the hotel dates.
She then booked hotels for 7/09 & 8/09. The original Palas de Rei hotel was no longer available, so an inn 3 km past the city was substituted. The hotel for 8/09 in Melide still had availability and was booked.
We confirmed with Nellie once again that all hotels were for 2 rooms with 2 twin beds, and on 28/08 received “We have indeed booked twin rooms throughout” and “don’t worry all hotels are confirmed correctly.”
For La Pallota de San Cristobal on 7/09, the inn had 5 rooms, none with 2 twins. There were no other guests, so staff gave us one room with a double bed + twin, and a room with a twin and bunk bed with low head clearance. The staff and inn were lovely, but the Ultreya reservation did not meet our twin bed requirement.
At Casa Acivro on 10/09, we were informed at check-in that Ultreya had booked us double bed rooms. We contacted Nellie, who arranged for a twin bed to be brought into the double room. But the front desk clerk then angrily confronted us, complaining that the Ultreya twin bed booking was not clear.
My party felt that the ease, professionalism and peace of mind of using a hotel booking service for our trip was not met by Ultreya Tours. It was fortunate we noted the hotel booking date errors in advance, instead...
Read moreI can’t say enough great things about Ultreya Tours. We booked the Portuguese Way Self-Guided tour for 4 people. We had Nellie add in a couple extra nights for us (an additional stop between Padron and Santiago) and then an extra night in Santiago. Our cost per person was €1035 which included separate rooms (one room for my wife and I and 1 room for our 2 teenage daughters) in luxury accommodations in 3 and 4-star properties, breakfast and 3-course dinner every day/night and luggage transfer between properties. To say everything was seamless is an understatement. Everything from the directions provided on our daily vouchers, check-in/check-out procedures, meal reservation times, meals, luggage transfers were flawless. All of the hotels that Ultreya booked for us were phenomenal but one in particular in Caldas de Reis (a placed named Torre do Rio) is quite possibly the nicest most luxurious property my wife and I have ever stayed in and that’s saying a lot! We couldn’t be more pleased with the level of detail that Nellie provided, but her professionalism and ability to put together such an amazing journey is worth noting. We were thoroughly impressed not only with the tour itself, but with the value of the trip. We definitely felt we got our money’s worth and often times, wondered how she was able to put this together and stay within the budget. We would definitely have her organize for us another Camino from a different direction in the future. I highly recommend Ultreya Tours,...
Read moreI have used Ultreyatours twice for Camino trips.with Nellie i planned two very different routes and it was impeccable. Nellie seeks the most wonderful and reliable inns/bed and breakfasts to stay in. The spots were highly varied and each great. Good food at all the stays and very nice owners. I/we stayed in private rooms each night which delighted us. My/ our luggage was moved safely each night and not a scratch occurred. I knew Nellie was there if I needed her and every request I made she was able to accommodate. We will be going back as soon as COVID allows and Nellie will be...
