It’s a small family owned boutique hotel about 5-8 mins walk from the Catheral of Santiago De Compostela on a quiet side of the town. ||I stayed in a single room for two nights. The room is not big and had window with planter overlooking the main street. The amenities in the room is basic but cosy. ( note: the sound insulation is not very good as highlighted by one reviewer. Perhaps the other guests during my stay were considerate, noise was not much of an issue. It’s also the dedicated service by the hotel staff that makes you overlook the little inconvenience.) ||The hotel is known for its beautiful private garden in the ground floor. There is a cosy cafe with seating overlooking the garden. ||On the first floor and second floor, there are common seating areas overlooking the private garden. You can have your own quiet time here and have cafe food to be served here. Although the menu mains covers only beverages ( good coffee and tea), breakfast and pastry and snacks, they are value for money. ||However, it was their warm and friendly customer service that made the biggest difference. I totally agree with another reviewer that they deserved 7 stars for service. ||Even before I had arrived at the hotel, I already felt that this place has warm customer service focus. During midway of my Camino, I wrote to them if I could send them a package for safe keeping in order to lighten my backpack. They readily agreed and even sent me an email when my package arrived. ||The period when I was at Santiago de Compostela, it was raining heavily with gusty winds. I arrived the hotel all drenched. The lady at reception, took my wet poncho and shoes, told me they had a place that would enable them to dry well. This happen each time I went out in the heavy rain. And yes, I could borrow an umbrella here. ||It was very difficult to go out long hours during those 2 days of heavy rain. It was quite miserable. However the hotel was like a little sunshine place in the rain, all their staff are warm , friendly and helpful even the cleaner. Having breakfast / tea at the cafe or the seating areas on upper floors, looking at garden was very relaxing. ||Thank you Hotel Costa Vella for the...

Read moreIf I could give it 6 stars I would. Location is perfect. Walking distance from the cathedral and all the great restaurants. Service is outstanding. Antonio and Ricardo are always there to help you. We arrived early for our stay, Antonio lead us to the gorgeous garden restaurant and provided us with drinks and tapas while waited for our room to be ready. We asked for a recommendation regarding a restaurant, Ricardo recommended Amoa. He called and made a reservation for us but lamented that he could not get us seating for the outdoor patio. We went anyway and we're seated in the outdoor patio. I think Ricardo pulled some strings. Some of the rooms have a lounge adjacent to the bedroom overlooking the beautiful garden restaurant. We have come to Santiago 5 times for the "Camino" and every time we stay here. Can not beat the service and attention that we receive at Costa Vella. Everyone working there was pleasant and attentive. We plan on returning to stay there in a...
