After much 'umming and rrrrring' about where to stay overnight en-route to Bilbao on our return trip to the UK, we decided to play safe and stop once more at this delightful, family run hotel, because for location and accessibility you cannot beat it if you want a comfortable stop-over for Santander or Bilbao.||We arrived mid afternoon after a 6 hour drive North, so after settling in our room, we went downstairs for a pre-dinner drink in the cosy lounge area. After sitting by the roaring log fire for an hour or so with a glass of very nice wine, we had a quick cat nap & freshen up for dinner.||So glad the restaurant was open this trip. Had superb home cooked food, served by a lovely lady who was very informative and didn't mind us practising our basic Spanish. My lamb (young and milk fed only), was superb, as was Hubby's pork.||Desserts, coffee, wine everything, was top notch and very reasonable.||After a good nights sleep and a lovely breakfast, we left at 11ish to drive up to Bilbao, more than happy with the very reasonable bill.||I love this little hotel, I cannot think of a single negative about it and any other comment would be nit-picking. Owners are fabulous and friendly, rooms comfortable and extremely clean etc etc etc||On our next trip by car, it will be hard NOT to...
Read moreI chose this hotel as it looked a good stop over for a night from our drive from Bilbao to Southern Spain and it proved exactly that.||Fabulous village a coupe of miles inland from the motorway and very easy to find. The area is classed as one of 'outstanding beauty'. Sepluveda is a lovely village, with buildings of historical interest. Small and compact with lovely views.||The hotel is at the beginning of the road into the village and quiet, no worry about road noise at all. A short 10 mins walk tops will take you into the centre.||The hotels is quaint, very comfortable, extremely clean with very comfortable beds. The rooms come with a complimentary water, juices etc in a 'mini-bar' in the room. Nice fluffy towels, very good bath & shower. ||The owners are charming and cannot do enough for you, including checking that my Husband was OK when he had to go to his car to retrieve medication at 2 a.m. ||The Continental Breakfast was more than adequate with plenty to keep us happy till lunchtime. Lots of choice, lovely fresh cheeses and ham and the fresh croissants were outstanding. I had two!||No complaints whatsoever and I would thoroughly...
Read moreI have just read a read a review that says that the host speaks English, the rascal!! He let me have long conversations about the wildlife, the area, and the town all in my not very good Spanish without letting me know he could speak English . Roberto and the whole family are so charming we felt like friends sharing their home. We were given directions to Los Hoces de Duraton and even a business card so we could phone if we lost our way. We were treated to videos of the area running quietly in the background whilst we ate our very tasty and reasonably priced meal. I was given so much information about the birds (which Roberto knew was our hobby) that we will have to return to see more. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable although, not large but, not small either. Bathroom was excellent. When I mentioned dinner was from 10pm I was told we could eat at whatever time we would like. I do not think anyone staying here will want for anything that is in their power to provide. Nicely situated on the outskirts...
