Fort Sea View Hotel — Hotel in Matara

First thing I want to say about this place, is that the owner was among the loveliest, most helpful people of our time in Sri Lanka. Someone who will do that little bit extra for you, not for money, or any other incentive, other than being a really nice guy. The location is perfect, you literally can walk out of your room onto the beach. In the morning I joined the owner in helping the fishermen haul in their nets and inspect their catch over the night. If you want a heart warming and authentically local experience, you can't do better. However I have to warn that this is far from luxury. There are a few bugs (probably hard to avoid in a small beach house), there is no AC, and the bed is pretty hard. Adorable view and most friendly and special owner. It is a simple house, with an ordinary rooms and there's a kitchen also. The most important while you're traveling are the people you meet, and we was really happy to meet such a wonderful guy, as an owner of the house -Gihan and his friends! I stayed one night at the Fort Sea View guesthouse just to enjoy the peaceful environment and the beach. The room was comfortable with attache bathroom. As i slept I could the ocean waves as it is located near the beach.There is a table and parasol placed outside facing the ocean so I had an amazing view while I had my breakfast. The owner, Mr Gihan,was very helpful as he provided meat and groceries and let me prepare my own meal! The price of the stay was only $ 15.00 and I felt it was worth more. Its the perfect place for...
