Do not recommend this hotel at all. More like 2 stars than 4 stars. It is old and outdated with very bad indoor air quality and no air circulation. I had to sleep with windows widely open to have some fresh air inside, which is a big risk as the second floor is close to ground floor and thieves can access it. Got a room that was dirty full of dust, with broken air conditioning and lamps that didn't work. I asked for the house keeping to clean my room and change bed linen but she only changed the bed and didn't clean anything else, didn't wipe any counters or changed dirty towels or emptied the bin. That is something I would expect from a 4 star hotel.
Staff is also rude, incompetent and have no communication internally. I got a partial refund during check-in for a change in my booking but they ran after me when I checked out and demanded me to pay more even though I already paid during check-in, because one of their receptionist ladies did a mistake in their system. They have absolutely no internal communication. I spent 30 min explaining the receptionist Cassandra but she doesn't know how to do basic math to understand that they are charging me more than my original booking. They don't talk internally to get clarity on their own colleagues' mistakes and they put the blame on their customers.
Location is also super inconvenient, I really don't understand why people think it is centrally located. I thought it was close to city centre but it actually takes 40-50 minutes to get to city centre (especially around Slottskogen area) with public transit. Stay away from this hotel and save your time and energy staying somewhere closer to centre with proper indoor...
Read moreStayed for 4 nights, and we were very happy. The rooms are really large, and though a little basic and dated, they are clean and comfortable. We were travelling with a dog, and the hotel is very pet friendly, even having a Dog Station in the lobby with snacks and fresh water always available. You may have to book a time slot for breakfast, but that's just sensible given the size of the hotel, and the breakfast selection is what you would expect from a Strawberry hotel, it is varied, plentiful, fresh and the staff take excellent care of you. The hotel only offers room cleaning when requesting, I think this is excellent! Cleaning, changing towels etc every day is really not needed, and is very wasteful. They have a nice little bar in the reception where you can get a drink if you want, and some snacks. There is also a shuffleboard and pool table, and plenty of seating in the common areas. The location at Eriksberg is really nice, the whole neighbourhood is very modern and is a great place to explore. It's out of the noise of the city center, but there are many busses and a ferry that leaves outside the hotel, that can get you downtown in about 20 minutes. The staff really go out of their way to be of help,...
Read moreOur second hotel in Sweden and remarkable, also in this hotel the lady at the desk was very kind. We liked the fact that almost all the Swedish people speak perfectly English so also this lady helped us very well with everything. There is a private parking place for your car but you can also park your car in front of the hotel for a fixed day price, it was around 4 euros a day. The parking machine was unfortunately a mess, we did not understand anything so by accident we received a day ticket. How we did it, is still a miracle...
With the ferry you can easily go to the centre of Gothenborg. You can buy tickets with the travel app, Västtrafik. Within 15 minutes the ferry brings you to the city centre, every 30 minutes. Breakfast was a little crowded but everything you wanted was available, you can even make your own waffles with Nutella. We liked it very much!
We decided to go back 1 day earlier because of the rainy day in front of us. The lady from the hotel informed us we could submit a request for refund at Booking.com. We already payed for the whole stay so we did not expect to get any money back. But in the end we received a refund of 1 night. Very...
