I can’t even begin to tell you how in the coldest of weather this place has warmed my heart.|From the minute we arrived, Sonia on the desk was friendly and within the short 3 days we’ve been here, she’s come to feel like an old friend. Always around, has a lovely energy and likes a chat like myself. We used the sauna one of the nights, a fantastic experience that was the perfect relaxing end to a day of walking around and sledding in the cold! We had dog sledding booked (something you absolutely can not not do here, it was fantastic) and she explained everything, from start to finish and warned it could feel a little intense at the start as the dogs were so eager! She was not wrong but the sledding experience was fantastic, I was right at the back which minimised stopping for me and the scenery was beautiful. My dogs were full of character and I had so much fun working with them and being in their present! The guides were fantastic and good fun and we are actually popping back this afternoon to spend more time with the dogs!|We checked out this morning but could still use the facilities to prepare food and shower if we needed to.|The price was unbelievable for the experience, and we’ve decided we will be aiming to return once a year. |Whilst here, I will never stay anywhere else. This felt like home away from home, like family! I am coming back for mowgli in a few years...
Read moreNot a nice place at all. Unclean, cramped, uncomfortable, rude staff, and an even ruder and very shady owner. I would have given two stars, but one of the staff members stole our food (two frozen pizzas) from the fridge, so I gave it one. It deserves zero. The other staff members, and later the owner, denied it ever happened at first, but after we kept digging, the story changed. Several times.
The final version was that staff is allowed to take food from the fridge if it has been in there for too long (could not tell us what "too long" was however). Our food had only been in the fridge a few hours, so the staff member who took it either made a mistake or simply didn't care. The owner refused to have her come back with the food and refused to replace it. He blamed us for leaving it in there too long. So we had to go back to the store, meaning a 30 minute walk in -30 degrees. It takes 20 minutes to get dressed for that weather and another 20 to get undressed again. So we had to waste another hour, go back in the cold when we had just gotten home and wanted to warm up, and spend more money (food is incredibly expensive this far north).
I know there are not many options in Abisko, but if at all possible, avoid this place. It's not very nice in general, but the dishonest and flat out rude staff and owner make it one of the worst places we've...
Read moreWe didn’t stay in the accommodation but we joined dog sledding activity. I emailed Abisko.net and Sonia replied to my email promptly. There was no slot available for 1 pax winter land tour (drive our own sled) and 1 pax for dog sled experience. We decided to take winterday tour together. ||We were picked at ( and sent back to) STF Turustation by Maria. She was cheerful and friendly. Then a friendly guy in their office passed winter clothing and shoes to us. ||Total of 6 people joining the winterday tour. There were 2 guides with us. One guy (sorry I forgot his name) and Anna. Dogs are friendly and we can pat all dogs freely. They like to run and race 😀. ||We read some comments online that it’s not difficult tO drive our own sled. However, its not the case for us. My husband and I fell down 5-6 times. Maybe we didn’t know skiing resulting unable to balance ourselves. Other mushers didn’t fell down like us 🤣. Anna was very helpful and attentive to us during the whole journey. ||Nothing serious with the fall. It’s only bit bruises and body ache. We did enjoy our experience and would never forget it. We will join dog sledding experience again next time but as passengers. Highly recommend for this activity in Abisko. Please join as passenger If you are below 50kg as dogs run fast and you need step on brake to...
