The accommodation is simple but has everything you need. Kitchen is well furnished and I always found it clean. The room where we stayed (Economy without window) had a fan/air filter that made the air inside very dry, to the point that it was a bit discomfortable. The position is great, only 10 mins walk to the lake and 3 minutes to the train station. The only downside is that to start the many hikes in the National Park you have to get to Abisko Turiststation (45 mins walk, but along a nice pedestrian road). Part of the staff is seasonal, and it can be noticed as sometimes they were not able to provide us with all the information we needed.

Me and my partner booked an "Aurora BBQ" experience, on the 31st of December to celebrate New Year's Eve. The event itself was ok, but it was poorly organised. We were around 50 guests, a bit later than the starting time we were transported to a parking lot from which we could see the northern lights thanks to the low light pollution. They set up the fire to cook the reindeer, but they never told us clearly by which time the dinner was ready. They kept forgetting ingredients at the main Guesthouse and had to go back several times to get them, and we ended up eating at 22 (which is reasonable considering that the meat needed time to cook, but we were never told we had to wait two hours). There were a couple of fireplaces where we could warm up, but staff did not take care of the fire and we ended up adding wood to the fire ourselves. It was never said clearly that people who needed the toilet or wanted to go back to the accommodation could just have asked the staff to go back to the guesthouse. They were kind and offered to drive several times when needed, but it would have been nice if this was clarified at the beginning. At midnight they did not even do a proper countdown but just opened some bottles and lighted some small fireworks. We were expecting something more structured, with a gathering of everyone and a proper talk about Sami culture (instead, only the people that were really close to the cooking station could listen to some stories the chef was telling us). We expected way more considering that it was advertised as "special BBQ for New Year's Eve"! I'm confident that all the other Aurora BBQ experiences they do (not on festivities) are great, with smaller groups as advertised in the pictures seen from the website and in a somehow closed area rather than outside, in a...

Stayed for a week in Abisko guesthouse in a Private apartment.

THE GOOD: Location. Walking distance to the train station. The suite had a beautiful view of the frozen lake. It also has a full kitchen wherein Pans, cutlery, utensils and coffee are included. We made walks to the nearby supermarket to buy some tea and food to cook. There is NO restaurant nor cafe in the location. The suite was clean and warm for the entire stay.

THE OK: The suite was decent size for 2. We mostly stayed indoors due to a storm, so we enjoyed the TV instead. It had all channels but no connectivity to our devices unfortunately given that Wifi was quite fast! Slippers are provided, although have been USED A LOT by previous guests.

Room cleaning wasnt available. I think it is part of the Swedish culture to do things yourselves (which is a good thing). So instead, there is a mop and a vaccum in the suite. Soap, shampoo, Room refresh (new towels, sheets) were not available too so we had the same towels for the entire week.

The reception was available to assist us with information, as well as introduce activity packages like moose spotting, ice fishing and night bbq.

Warm clothing was free to burrow, but dont expect them to be sparkling clean nor new. Ours had holes, weird odor but they kept us warm in -25 to - 30C weathers.

THE NOT SO GOOD: We could hear the guests on the other rooms as if there were no walls in between us. Doors slamming here and there were very irritating. The guests upstairs were also jumping and laughing at 2-3am. There is no "lights off" policy, and the house seems to be built with light materials. The noise made it difficult to sleep.

Taking a shower was great but also very slippery. Simple anti-skid tapes on the floor could have helped a lot.

There was a storm during our stay which made us stay mostly indoors. The sun rose at 10am then was totally dark by 2.30pm. The property could have offered some indoor activities or alternatives to make guests stay worthwhile, considering the fact that staying in Abisko is very pricey.

There were no nearby attractions on the property so we had to walk a few kilometers to the Abisko tourist center and National Park. Then walking back to the property ofcourse.

In summary, our stay was Okay. Opting for a Private Apartment in Abisko Guesthouse is a good option if you dont mind cooking, just need a warm room with a good view, and if...

Perfect location for Aurora Chasing & cozy stays

PROS:

Unbeatable location: Short walk to train station (Östra Station), grocery store (with all we needed), Torneträsk lake, and beautiful Abisko National Park trails. Plus, the remote location offers dark skies ideal for aurora viewing.

Great for aurora viewing: We were lucky enough to witness the Northern Lights from our room at night (lights off!). Room tip: Request a north and east-facing room with a lake view for the best aurora displays (we were happy with room 28!).

Comfortable & Clean: Our triple room with bunk beds comfortably accommodated our couple with luggage. The heating kept us warm, and the frequent cleaning ensured a fresh environment (rooms are cleaned after each guest departure).

Good amenities: well-equipped kitchen, towels, hair dryer and hangers.

Efficient Check-in/out: Quick and easy, with access to common areas (kitchen, bathroom, living room) and luggage storage until departure.

Warm clothes rental for entire stay: Overall, boots, hat, and mittens make packing lighter.

Wonderful activities: Highly recommend the Fjords sightseeing and Aurora BBQ!

Friendly and Helpful Staff: They responded quickly to our numerous questions via email and WhatsApp calls, ensuring all our needs were met efficiently.

CONS:

Limited ventilation: No windows that open for fresh air.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Noise: The guesthouse is located in a quiet area. While we heard some occasional noise from neighboring rooms, it wasn't a significant disturbance for us.

Cleaning: Shelf cleaning would further enhance freshness.

OVERALL:

We had a wonderful stay in mid-March 2024 at Abisko Guesthouse & Activities. The location is unbeatable for exploring Abisko, chasing the aurora, and enjoying the trails. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the amenities made our stay comfortable. We highly recommend this guesthouse and the activities they offer, and we hope to...

We booked the private apartment and it has everything we could ever need - especially for the VERY reasonable price paid! The place was well insulated from outside noises and even though it is a guesthouse, their staff came in every morning to clear our trash. The view from the apartment is mesmerising - it overlooks the lake and the mountains. Cleanliness is good too! We also booked all our tours with Guesthouse and every single tour and guide was fantastic. Ratchata brought us to Norway (by driving safely and stably - very much appreciated in icy conditions) and shared wish us so much about the Scandinavian history and culture. Meanwhile, Victor went above and beyond during our nightly Aurora photography tours by constantly checking in on us to make sure we’re okay and not too cold. He’s also really talented at handling photography gear and we managed to get cool shots of us with the Aurora. Robin made a fantastic Sami-inspired dinner and was very friendly and funny the whole time - we felt so welcomed. Klas, the owner, also took time out of his day to talk to us about our plans and advise us on where to go and what to do in Abisko. We ended up having a blast thanks to his recommendations. We really enjoyed our stay in Abisko because of this guesthouse - they make you feel like you’re a part of their family. Thank you so much :) - R
