A not too impressive first visit, let's start with the good points. Hotel is located close to the city center, as well as the train station, with a standard selection breakfast (really nothing special) but with quite tasty croissants. They have a quite comfortable bed, and supply weight lifting in the rooms.
The general feeling is of a hotel that needs a renovation. For example our room door can't close properly and needs an extra jolt to force shut. Hazard when leaving the room since the door won't close properly leaving it unlocked. Most doors we walk by have a similar look of being quite worn down. Low lighting in our corridor, see pictures.
Inside we find a room with questionable design and color choices. How about a bathroom all in red, but with a blue faucet? A glass door to the bathroom, but the lock tilted because otherwise the lock would not connect with the door frame.
Soap providedby the hotel, is well over one year old (checked the date on the box). Opening the soap box shows old hair, most, likely from an old guest where the cleaning personnel have put the soap back into to box and placed it as a new one. As a side note, we got two soaps, the other seem unused. Shower gel and lotion tubes where the security seal have already been opened, see picture.
I get a budget hotel feeling from this four star hotel, I would place it at around two or three stars in it's current condition.
When returning to the hotel after dinner, seeing the reception personnel standing outside the main entrance smoking. A "warm" welcoming for sure.
And something we are wondering about, why only supply us with one water bottle when we are two living there? Also, they promptly supply with a price list for the minibar, however the bar is totally empty of all products.
Lastly, I want to give credit to the breakfast serving personnel who were very happy, smiling and welcoming.
The hotel have some issues to attend to, before I would stay there again. I can not in it's current state recommend it to someone else at the current...
Read moreThe hotel is very conveniently located next to the train station. It doesn't have much charm from the outside but the inside has been renovated and looks very modern. On my floor (3rd) the carpet could have used some refreshing but other than that I liked the decor. My room was huge (maybe I lucked out?) with couch, two TVs, and a shiny closet (it literally had a light inside and glass doors). The bathroom was clean and the shower hot. If you like very very soft beds you'll be in the right place - but for someone with back problems they are probably too soft. The breakfast was really very good and if you want to eat with an outside friend, they can come and pay to join you (very decently priced too compared to some breakfast prices I've seen in...
Read moreMy stay at the Hotel President was better than I had expected and the staff is very friendly and accommodating.
The rooms and halls are fresh with nice carpeting. The breakfast which is often a weak point in Sweden was very good - there was tofu scramble and vegan sausages that are delicious and good quality breads (not the horror sold in local supermarkets).
The cheeses were also excellent including high quality brie and hard cheeses.
The coffee is non-drinkable but that is always the case in Swedish hotels so it is not a reason to reduce a star by any means.
There is a slight buzz in the bath room (probably from the ventilation) but it really was not a major issue and this is coming from someone who is...
