We used this hotel as a base for the Para-Cycling World Championships in nearby Nottwil around 10 minutes away. My niece was competing so we couldn't stay at the Conference Centre in Nottwil as all the teams stay there during the event and it's not allowed for family to stay in the same hotel as the team. I'm glad this happened as we were able to enjoy the Aquafit Hotel instead! Check-in was fast and friendly, the facilities including the superb indoor pool were explained to us. The receptionist took us upstairs and we were shown the rooms, all of different size and shape. We had a double aspect room (13) which was like a studio. The room had a settee and double bed which could be adjusted using a control. Unfortunately my side of the bed wasn't working but I wasn't planning on using this feature so I didn't mention it. The room was clean and tastefully decorated and included tea/coffee making facilities. The socket where the kettle was plugged in wasn't working so I just plugged it in somewhere else in the room. Light pollution was ok and the room was quiet as we faced onto a small back road. Other rooms face the main road and were noisier. Not much to see out our windows apart from LIDL across the road as the hotel is in a semi industrial area of town. (LIDL proved to be very handy for making our sandwiches for the picnic the following day). There is a large Breakfast area outside the rooms which can be used at any time of the day. Tea/coffee are readily available and there is a large fridge & freezer where you can store cold drinks /food/ice-packs if you want. There are also snacks and fruit available throughout the day which you can help yourself to. Breakfast was buffet style with breads/pastries/rolls and cold meats/cheese as well as traditional cereals & fruits. Orange juice /Actimel / yogurt and boiled eggs are also available. I thought the selection was very good and for "Swiss National Holiday" we were also treated to smoked salmon. Next door to the breakfast room is a large children's crèche which anyone can use.|| The pool is large with various water jets and bubbles to soothe away the aches and pains. There is also an outside part to the pool through some plastic curtains which also has a seating area for relaxing. The temperature of the water was high 70's which was very pleasant. We used the pool each day when we returned and always looked forward to it. We didn't use any of the other facilities such as the gym as we didn't have time. || The hotel doesn't have many rooms, I think these were converted from meeting rooms at some point as the bathroom is almost an afterthought. It's very small, the shower is like a telephone kiosk. You can't have more than one person in the bathroom at a time as you wouldn't be able to shut the door. The primary function is a spa and fitness centre with a few rooms, there is no restaurant on site but plenty of places to eat in the town which I will review separately. These are "observations" rather than complaints. The reception staff were friendly and always available to help. Thanks to everyone who helped with our blind/visually impaired party during our visit. Read moreThe bed was terrible, the bathroom was the size you would find in a camper and first use I was injured on the metal tissue roll cover because it was so close to the toilet…could not close door in bathroom without backing into side of toilet, the daycare was noisy in the mornings due to babies crying because there was a daycare right next to our room!, loud drunks in the hallway at midnight…the bed had a wooden plank in the middle, the sheets were polyester and the bed was foam so it was very uncomfortable because of sweating in the night, no phone in the room, no way of contacting anyone for help at night, dirty throw pillows, cold marble floor, the list goes on and on…we complained from the first night on, Manager never got back to us despite numerous requests then on the 3rd day while checking out we found him and then he said he never heard any complaints, he is an outrageous liar and then told us we have no rights as Canadians because we are now in Switzerland then he would only give us back $300 of the $1300 he owed us! This hotel needs to learn customer relations…of all our travelling in Europe over 2 months this was the worst experience we had, in all just a bad experience. Travellers BEWARE, we checked out by 11am on the 3rd day but manager only refunded 50% of 3 of the 4 nights remaining despite the injury and all the problems we encountered, this was a bad decision that we made staying here and we hope this review helps people decide not to stay here, despite the fancy pictures and pool attraction, this place is more like a hostel and daycare for people who want to workout while having their kids looked after, cold breakfast with no toaster only dry scrambled eggs and limited cheese etc, very small. We ended up going to a fantastic hotel 5 minutes away that treated us like VIP’s (Hirschen Oberkirch-fantastic food and fantastic people)…, Aquafit Hotel is a very bad example of Swiss hospitality-everywhere else we went we were treated so well and kindness was given to us...
