27 March 2024 Wed: Cons = 1) Noisy. Poor noise insulation for window, door & ceiling. A lot of noise. Noisy road outside. Noisy Taiwanese (local) guests at the corridor (they stand there talking). Running footsteps & chair dragging noise from ceiling. Noise insulation gap of air between the 2 panel windows need to be wider (example for CU hotel, there's very big air space like 20cm or more for noise insulation. This Legend hotel only has about 6 cm air gap, so ambulance sirens & speeding cars & motorbikes can still be clearly heard.). 2) Leaking water from under the sink. 3) Fridge not cold enough for keeping milk or yogurt. Just for drinks & cake (but there's shared clean, big fridge in the lounge.) 4) Housekeeping (after check-in) not quite clean. A few long black hair strands under sink & around the room floor & 1 dust clump came out from under the fridge. Windows are not wiped. I wiped away the fingerprint marks & dirt on the inside. Outside windows, hotel needs to hire professionals to clean. 5) Noisy air-con vent near the door. 6) Location is far from Yanchengpu MRT Exit 4 or Exit 1 (no lift, no down escalator & heavy luggage have to be carried up & down the steps. Need to use Exit 2 lift which is further.). Out of the MRT, rough pavements & road make it difficult to wheel the heavy luggage to the hotel. 7) No rain shower but it's Ok. Shower head no adjustable spray but it's Ok. 8) Stuffy ventilation even with air-con on. And air-con takes a while to cool the room. Cold late at night when the air-con blows directly at the desk. 9) Leather-looking chair is cold to sit on. And the height is a bit short compared to the height of the desk. 10) Shower drain loud dripping sound for some 5 or 10 minutes after showering. 11) Painful curb at the front of the room door. 12) No blackout curtains. The blinds can't block out the light in the morning.
///Pros = 1) Good Wi-fi same as most hotels in Kaohsiung. 2) Very strong & large volume shower water. Wonderful to bathe. 3) Big & deep bathtub. 4) New furnishing & decoration compared to other hotels. Thoughtful ideas. Hook inside bathroom. 5) Good reception staff. Efficient & fast. 6) No smoke smell. Clean-smelling room. 7) Spacious laundry room with 4 laundry machines & 3 dryers in the basement & ironing board with iron. Well-lit & spacious. Not creepy compared to other hotels. 8) Big bathroom & spacious shower space. 9) Housekeeping is overall clean. 10) Love the hand foam soap & bath gels. 11) Rare 2 elevators & big. 12) Nice big Lounge area on 2nd floor. Pretty drawings along corridor on 2nd floor. 13) The security regarding housekeeping. If you want housekeeping, you must inform the counter staff & give them 1 room card. Or the staff can also call you whether you want housekeeping...
Read moreWe stayed at the Legend Hotel for 3 nights (1 adult, 1 teen) and had a great stay. ||The hotel is really well located - about a 3 minute walk to the nearest MRT station and just a few steps to the nearest bus stops. There are various restaurants and shops nearby. The hotel is also within easy walking distance of Love River and the Pier 2 Arts Centre. ||We stayed in a Deluxe Double Room. It wasn’t huge but was plenty big enough for 2 of us. The bathroom was generously sized with a bath and a large separate shower enclosure. There was a small fridge, complimentary water, drinks and noodles. Our room rate included breakfast. This was buffet style. There were various choices. Not the best breakfast ever but the food was fine and the staff were lovely. ||The hotel itself was decorated everywhere with wallpaper featuring beautiful artwork which lent a certain quirkiness to the hotel. ||There was a laundry room with free of charge washing machines. There was a small charge (coins) for the dryers. There was also an iron and ironing board and small bags of washing powder to buy. There was table football, air hockey and X-boxes in the entertainment area. There was also a lounge - we didn’t visit this but it seemed to have various things that would have been useful for families with younger children. ||The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helped with any queries we had. ||All in all, this was a great hotel for our stay in Kaohsiung. It was vey clean, well-located and had everything...
Read moreThis is my second time to Taiwan but first time to Kaohsiung - southern tip of Taiwan - quite opposite end of Taipei. I was in Taipei last September 2018 for a conference. Indeed, one of its kind - clean cosy accommodation with wifi connection, a beautiful lounge with all the amenities for relaxation for young and adults, free flowing coffee and tea, and with self-service laundry area!||||Legend Hotel Pier 2 is ideal place for both family and solo travellers. It is affordable especially for a short stay in Kaohsiung. The hotel is just few minutes away from the train station. Well, I love to walk even with heavy luggages on both hands, I still managed to reach the hotel in my own pace of walking as I also enjoying the environment. Still need to confirm this, but someone told me that few meters away from the hotel, maybe 10 minutes walk, I have to visit the old seaport area as one of the tourist attractions nearby! So far so good after spending a night here...looking forward to seeing more of the city landscape and what other interesting things it can offer! I just want to share this note posted at the bedside...very interesting reminder to guests while enjoying the company of strangers in the room!||||"Dorm type accommodation is based on the concept of community to share, make friends but also "compromise" to reach harmony which may in some ways sacrifice your...
