I stayed from 2/3-2/5 two nights. I normally book rooms at leat a week before my traveling day. I just found out that other rooms with same size I booked is selling at half price on the day I checked-in.
Yet, the room is super tiny and cost me 4000NTD per night. It’s too pricy compare to other hotels I stayed in Kaohsiung. Not as valuable as the reviews shown on Agoda’s page. 200% no worth.
Good thing: Location is just next to the Pier 2 Art Park. This is the only good thing to mention.
Others are super disappointing if you really want to stay in this hotel.
Bad thing:
The toilet and the shower room is separated as two single units. They are designed to connect to the room directly. As consequences, you can hear and smell whatever is happening in the toilet when your roommate is pooing. Yet, you may be frozen when you finish shower and step out to the room to try to put your clothes on and not get wet again.
The sound of the ventilation is really loud.
The mattress is unbelievable soft and wobbling. I was waken up every single time that my partner made small movements while sleeping. I was completely sleepless over two nights.Got muscle pain after the first night.
No parking lot, and no free parking is available. This is super inconvenient for travellers like us. We drive around the whole Taiwan to travel. We need to pay over night parking fees, which is insane.
The soundproof is bad, we can hear others screaming and laughing out loud on the second night. We also can hear people smashing the door.
I booked the room with breakfast included. The breakfast is served from 6:30~9:30. You need to walk 3minutes to another hotel( same brand) to have your breakfast. The first thing caught my eyes is there’s a notice sticked on the wall says:
The peak hour for breakfast is 8:30~9:30. We recommend you to avoid to enjoy your breakfast at this time slot.
I was wondering, why not extend the breakfast hour to 10:00?
The first day we had our breakfast around 8:45~9:20. I saw a tourist took the last piece of the dessert at the time we just stepped into the restaurant. However, the dessert area was remained empty and nothing was refilled when we about to leave. Is that because it’s nearly closing time(45mins before the breakfast time is due), so that they don’t want to refill the dessert?
In conclusion, 200% not...
Read moreFor full disclosure my stay was paid for using my Lucky Visit Taiwan vouchers that I won at the airport. I would stay here again when paying out of my pocket.
Decent little hotel in a great area with lots to do. Nice little fruit stand 1 block left out the door on right.
Just about everything said in reviews is accurate but overall our stay 2 nights the City Suites was a fine choice as it was close to public transportation, both bus and green line. We visited a friend at the SYS University, took the #50 bus to her house and back to the CS Hotel. Then a bus trip to the Big Buda Temple and a harbor night cruise both started and ended on the convienent green line a couple blocks. Ok, it has been said...
The room was small. Yes it was but for the 2 of us it was just right.
Yes the breakfast was in another building 3 minutes away. However it was a nice stroll there and back, we've had longer walks, Payatta, Thailand comes to mind.
No western options at breakfast. There was toast and the best buffet scambled eggs I ever had. I didn't come to Taiwan for any western food.
The shower and toilet were in separate compartments. Really this is a plus, a good set up for the space. Just keep the door closed while the offending odors evacuate. And what don't they consider rubbish?
I don't know how anyone could pay full price here? You couldn't possible find this place without using the internet and I booked directly and it was cheaper then most of the .com sites.
Noise did come from next door for a small disturbing time but I heard the walk/don't walk signal from 11 floors below most.
The internet worked good for me.
Steampunk atmosphere was consistant throughout, I liked that.
Man am I glad we had a window.
The fans were so quiet I though the A/C was not working. Whew disaster averted.
The desk people were very helpful directing us to where we were trying visit.
Recapping I would pay to stay here again.
PS: I am use to staying at corporate hotels on the company dime. If you want to not have some the concerns listed by some pay 4 times the price and stay there. Noise was almost...
Read moreWe had stayed in this hotel for about 2 weeks, the price of this hotel is not very expensive, it has reasonable price. The decorations are special and the toilet is very big. The service of this hotel is ok. In this hotel, the room is can not smoke, however, there were some tourists some in the room that next to us. We felt so dizzy as the smoking smell is too strong. We have asked the front desk to help, the hotel staffs did ask them do not smoke again. The tourists did smoke again obviously, but the staff didn't do other things to let them stop smoking at the room. Luckily the smoking tourists leave very soon so we can breathe fresh air in...
