We have been staying at the Château de Chine in Kaohsiung since 2018 each time we visit Taiwan. Here is our experience at the hotel:
Pros: Hotel rooms are clean and staffs are very pleasant and extremely friendly
Reasonable price
Able to access VIPs for snacks, beverages. .etc.
DIY laundry service
KRT (Kaohsiung Rapid Transit) within walking range and family mart nearby.
The hotel has a few restaurants and provide currency exchange service.
Safety deposit box in the room.
Cons: Every time we take showers, the water escape from the corner. There is a big flaw of the design. If you are not careful, your bathroom will be flooded with water.
Each employee is way over worked. They have to be in charge and take care of customer everywhere.
The laundry room has 2 washers and 3 dryers. The washers are ok, fairly old, and one powered by gas dryer that is great. The other 2 dryers that are powered by electricity are pathetic. The hotel does supply laundry detergent for free along with the service. I just wish the hotel had a better system set up for users. As you can see, it takes a couple of inconsiderate users to hold up the line.
The hotel had lack of information and instructions in English.
Overall, I'd still give it a rating of 5 out of 5. I hope the upper management would be able to see my review and take into consideration of making some minor...
Read moreI was kinda psyched to be staying at this place, as I've been to its other sister properties in Taipei and Hualien and was definitely a fan of this Taiwanese hotel brand. But I was kinda underwhelmed by the hotel's entrance and lobby area which looked dated, uncoordinated and possibly a little tacky. There were chairs that were moulded to look like silver mountains in the lobby, and the Christmas decor looked liked random toys put together. The rooms were a much better experience, and was pretty contemporary looking. However, the room layout was odd, with the clothes wardrobe placed right next to the toilet bowl and the safe was in the toilet.... one bedside area didn't come with electrical points for charging and lights control can only be accessible on one side of the bed. Service at the front desk was excellent though ~ prompt and clever. The doormen service was a horror though, plenty of staff, but no one bothered to ask me if i would like to hail a taxi, instead, preferring to chat with guests extensively on the brands under their hotel. It hasnt been a very memorable...
Read moreWe had such excellent experiences with this hotel that warrant special recognition. We discovered this place and started staying here before the pandemic. We found that through 5-6 years and about that many week-long stays that the entire establishment, the staff and management had been consistently conveying a sense of home and genuine hospitality, that our visits are highly valued on a person to person level. The staff are truly interested in pleasing and connecting with us guests as if we were old friends or seldom-seen relatives. This trip was 6 days and we were again super-impressed with the breakfast staff and the VIP lounge staff. Joan, Ms Lee, Linda and 圓圓 all deserved special mention as they have made us feel pampered. We look forward to coming back on our next trip to Kaoshiung to visit our old friends and stay at our “home away from home” at...
