From 16 to 19 Nov 2019 I stayed in this hotel in the district Ximen, which is a very vibrant place full of restaurants and shops. The hotel might be a bit difficult to locate, I took an Uber directly from the international airport, however you can take one from the Taipei HSR train station as well. The HSR stop would be Taipei Main Station which is not far from the Hotel (15min walk or add 1 stop with BL (blue line) from B12 to B11 Station). The very friendly staff welcomed me and gave me room 2007 with a nice comfy big bed. Before I say more, the room was a bit noisy at times, read below.||The numbers:|-Price/Quality: 4* of 5|-Price: $$1/2 of $$$$$|-Quality: 4* of 5|-Service at Reception: 5* of 5|-Airport pickup service: Not sure they have one, I took an Uber for 981NT$ ~ 29US$. Normal Taxi rough est. 1100-1500NT$|-Service Overall: 4* of 5|-Services Offered: 2* (no breakfast)|-Wheelchair Accessible: 4* (elevator)||Room|The room was quite small to my surprise it was only 20m2 which booking.com said was still bigger then most in Taipei, I am not sure that is true. |The bed is very comfortable and the pillow very firm which I liked a lot. |There was no closet and only 4 hangers so if you want to hang a lot of clothes this would not be the room for you. |Also when other flushed the toilet or showered I could hear this. And I heard loud banging, this woke me up the first 2 nights. The 3rd and last night I slept great. Could have been jet lag as well. |Bathroom|The bathroom was very well equipped with all amenities possible incl. tooth floss and a comb and tooth brushes. There was no bath, therefore a rain shower, which took quite a while to heat up and didn’t always have the best water pressure. The regular shower had better pressure. |Overall|For the price and the location together with the comfortable bed I think I would stay here again, but would inquire specifically about the breakfast as it isn’t so easy to find a breakfast place around unless you are fine to eat heavy meat and soy saus etc. for breakfast, also to note there are other hotels in this area as well, as it is a trendy area with great shops and...
Read morePros: the 2nd floor lounge was great. Laundry facilities, a nice area set up like a restaurant to eat, super clean and free snacks and drinks were nice.
Cons: room, service Rooms: small and not great. The bathroom has a makeshift sliding wall around it and the decor in the room and hallways is dark and though recently refurbished, feels a bit dated.
Service: I felt like the whole team needed more training on how to greet guests hospitably. The young woman who checked us in was abrupt bordering on rudeness and never mentioned where the elevator was. We loaded everything on the wrong elevator and then realized our error. When I mentioned it to her she said that it was the staff elevator. I said it might be helpful to point out to guests where the guest elevator is since it’s not obvious. She did not apologize or say anything.
Location is good in the middle of ximending—just 5 min walk to shops and food, but surrounded with graffiti and on a small alley with scooters whizzing by. probably fine for adults but if you have kids it’s a bit nerve-wracking..
If they were charging $150/night I might give one more star but at $300/night I expect more, both for the room and for...
Read moreTerrible Experience - Stay Away!I booked this hotel thinking it was new, as advertised, but it turns out it’s just a rebranded version of an old hotel that used to be called Tango Inn. The building still looks worn-out, and nothing matches the pictures online. The condition of the hotel is bad. When we arrived, we were given a room that was broken. In general the room was incredibly dark, small and just felt dirty as there were stains everywhere. We complained and were given a new room, but the condition wasn’t any better. It was clear they didn’t care about maintenance. What made things even worse was the staff. No one could speak English properly, and the so-called deputy manager kept interrupting me whenever I tried to explain the issues with the room. It was the most unprofessional interaction I’ve ever had at a hotel. This was easily one of the worst hotel stays I’ve ever experienced. There are plenty of other places nearby offering far better value. To top it all off, at checkout, they even tried to bribe us with freebies for a good review, which I found incredibly insulting.I would definitely never stay here again. Avoid...
