One of the best hostels I've been to! Had such a good stay at White House, I actually came back to stay after going on my safari. All the staff are so nice and welcoming, they have free breakfast, and offer dinner or lunch for $3. The food was ALWAYS delicious and something different everyday. The only thing is that you're not allowed to cook like you usually do in a hostel, but this is because they have their own chefs who cook delicious food so that's fair enough :) just don't go out and buy groceries if you intend to cook.

I stayed in 2 different rooms and both were spacious enough to store your luggage and had hot water, the rooms were cleaned everyday and everything was very well maintained. The beds are also very comfortable.

There is also the cutest house dog, so if you don't like dogs then they're happy to leave him in a room during your stay, but he's so friendly how can anyone not like him!

It's also very close to the centre, you can take a local bus for 400 shillings or the hostel also offer transportation. They also organise tours aswell so there's no need to book anything in advance if you can't find a tour company.

Overall I had a great stay and it really feels like home, and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a...

The hostel advertises a Maasai-style hut that is not yet available, still under construction. I feel specially let down as this is not a casual mistake: a few days prior to our arrival I asked them directly about the room type on WhatsApp and the management purposely sent me a picture of non existent Maasai hut, they lied to our face. There was no way we could've slept there as when we got to the hostel, the huts were still under construction. Truth is that we chose this hostel because the huts looked great - this is the only reason - had we known this, we would've chosen other hotel as we were on our honeymoon. On top of this, they initially even tried to charge us the higher price meant for Maasai huts, even though the not-as-cool room they gave us was half the price. Also, after a few days, Booking sent me an email saying the hotel reported we didn't sleep there, I guess they maybe wanted to save on the Booking commission and our negative review. Other than all this, the hostel seemed great price/value, I don't understand why they resort to...

This place is so lovely, everyone is really friendly and the way it's laid out is great for socialising. All the bedrooms are set around the bar/ courtyard/ eating / lounge space. The staff are friendly and very relaxed, and 3 meals a day included, we only had breakfast and dinner and both were great. One dinner was lentils which was great for my vegetarian friend and the another was a meat stew, rice and spinach. The showers are eally clean, and hot (though I preferred the cold showers). The big night out of the week is Thursday at Via Via and we had a few drinks and drinking games with Jackson and Junior before getting taxis. I would have given a 5 if it was a little closer to town, but I would still stay again as taxis are easy to get and cheap.

Splendid! Enjoyed the one night I spent here before going to Moshi the next day to hike Kilimanjaro. Breakfast was lovely & the space itself exudes these really happy, peaceful vibes. Run by a young couple so you should support them :) You can choose to have dinner in-house but I’d rather you go out & try out some awesome local restaurants. 4 stars because they don’t give a SOAP in the bathroom even if you take a private room where they charge you $40 plus. There should be some basic additional benefit for guests who choose private room over the hostel room. Thanks

White House is the perfect stop over for backpackers on either side of safari / kilimanjaro / zanzibar trips. It’s super social, with a great bar, pool table, hammocks and swing beds. It’s a little bit further outside of the city centre (15 minutes) but if you’re looking for somewhere to have down time and relax it’s perfect. Had a brilliant time both times I was passing through Arusha
