Le Grand Marie Hotel — Hotel in Dar es-Salaam

When I checked in to Legrande Marie, I thought I was going to have such a grand experience. I had a very horrible experience with their pathetic service. The wifi didn't work on my first night even though I had been assured that it was being fixed. Even the next day, it was still not working I placed an order for my dinner at 6.30pm. I was told it would take 30 minutes. I waited until 8.45pm when I was finally served. The next day, I was almost late for a meeting as I waited for them to press my shirt. It took a lot of follow up physically to get it done. They'd tell me at the reception downstairs that someone was coming to my room to pickup the shirt. I waited for 30 minutes and nobody showed up. I went back again and they had an excuse that the person in charge of laundry wasn't in. Got it done after 1 hour. Last night I was told at the reception to book early breakfast at the restaurant as I was checking out at 4.45am. The lady at the restaurant noted down my breakfast order and promised to get it ready by 4.30am. Since it was a take away order, she told me to pick it up at the reception downstairs while checking out. Early this morning while checking out, no breakfast had been left at the reception. The receptionist made a call to the restaurant and it wasn't answered. He asked me to go up to the restaurant to find out. With no lift, I quickly went up the stairs to 4th floor. I arrived at 6 pm at the hotel. The hotel is decent from the outside the rooms are spacious and very presentable, however I would not recommend it I spent one night and to me it was one night too many. After getting into the room. I found no water in the taps, bathroom not even the shower. I called the reception and was informed that they would pump the water in 5 minutes. After 15 minutes I called back only to be told the pump had broken and that a repair man had been called and everything would be sorted in 30 minutes. I called the reception again and was told the repairs were almost complete so I continued waiting. I realised I was being taken for a fool at around 10 pm when still there was no water and they couldn't change my room to one with running water. At midnight the receptionist offered to have a single bucket of water brought to my room, it was pathetic having travelled from Nairobi and not having water for a bath. I agreed to have the bucket brought. I was instructed to leave the bucket outside my room once done, I felt annoyed when 15 minutes later they came for the bucket. In the morning I didn't even get breakfast because apparently they only serve breakfast from 8am and couldn't make arrangements for one person and I was leaving at 7 am.. I booked this hotel on booking.com. I reserved a single room for 3 nights. I was given a room that smelled like sewage coming from the bathroom. None of the Amenities that were listed in the facility were offered. Such as a safe deposit box, a small fridge, there was no phone to call the reception you had to always go downstairs. The plugs were coming off the sockets. The Receptionists was very rude and very unhelpful. I was also sent a guy who assists you with getting a sim card and he conned me out of alot of money which I had to report him to the police station and then I got my money back. I have messaged the Manager several times and I never received a reply, I even sent several emails. I finally got another room but for it to be exactly the same type of room. For the sewage smell the housekeeping staff put Moth Balls all over the bathroom. I was disgusted and appalled at the lack of professionalism.
