Mahali House — Hotel in Kilimanjaro

This place typically hosts groups but opens the rooms up as a hotel between tour groups. Currently they are still working on outfitting the hotel properly, so it is a bit of a work in progress, but the rooms and common areas are outfitted to western standards with amazing beds and great linens, a big table, couch and coffee table area. The hotel is very quiet, and has comfortable beds, and is a guaranteed good night of sleep!

Its a great place to stay if your looking for peace and quite, your own place with no other guests or owner around, want to use a basic kitchen (stove, food processor, oven, sink, basic pots and pans), and want a comfortable bed. However they don’t offer many items that comparably priced hotels offer, such as wi-if, solar lights for electricity outages, outdoor seating or breakfast.

While we stayed for a week there were no other guests and we had to ask the owners to fix a couple of things while we were here (which they did always fixed very promptly!). Overall it’s a work in progress and I assume they will only improve with time, but if you’re looking for a quiet place where you can use a kitchen this...

I had an absolutely incredible time staying at Mahali House in Moshi. This hostel truly deserves every one of its five stars! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, offering the perfect balance of privacy and social vibe.

The staff went above and beyond to ensure my stay was enjoyable, always ready to help with a smile. The location is fantastic — close to key spots in Moshi, yet peaceful and relaxing. Whether you’re here for adventure or relaxation, Mahali House is the perfect base.
