This hotel offers some of the best value for money you can find for a five-star stay. A medium-sized boutique hotel tucked away by the Chiang Mai River, the historic building feels lived-in, fitting a more prestige luxury look. There is so much to love about this property, from the saltwater infinity pool to the generous rooms with spectacular bathrooms that include both a shower and a bathtub with all the bells and whistles you could imagine.
The hotel places a heavy emphasis on delivering outstanding and personalized service. Though the building is smaller, it feels mighty, featuring a restaurant with a large menu, an on-site washer and dryer, and a great outdoor seating area. We were on a longer trip and came here specifically to relax and stay on the property for our entire visit. We had a very relaxing and laid-back time by the pool, where we enjoyed the buffet and attentive service. Visiting during the low season often made us feel like we had a private riverside resort to ourselves. It's amazing value to access this level of quality. The other guests were well-dressed and international, and the property's layout provided plenty of opportunities to chat and meet others.
The only cons I could think of were minor. There was construction going on at the hotel next door, which gave our room a slightly obstructed view. Occasionally, our room had a funky smell; I wasn't sure if it was the cleaning supplies or proximity to plumbing work. Lastly, the dryer downstairs didn't work very well. However, these are not real complaints. This place is one for the books and stands out as a great example of accessible luxury in a service-minded...
Read moreThe hotel is lovely and offer somewhat charming characters due to its unique location next to the river (Both pros and cons, as the location is quite distanced from the old town area and major city attractions). The beautiful garden and pool were also the highlight. The house is also somewhat well maintained, although some cleanliness and some small maintenance details could be improved. To us, breakfast was average, leaving some rooms for improvement to meet the 5-star standard itself claims. Tips: Avoid booking rooms on the wing next to the roadside (approx. 5-6 meters to the street) due to extreme noise disturbance, for some people this may not be an issue but for us it was definitely a problem, and make sure to book room with river view or else you will be given room with restricted views half facing walls and building curbside. We were struggling with getting room changed, some staff members were doing their best nonetheless to help us in every possible way, although given some limitations due to the policies set by the hotel and the management. Staff members were all mostly friendly and somewhat accommodating, but some professional service trainings could be done to improve their professionalism to meet the true 5-star standard itself claims. Special thanks to the gentleman at the reception who stood out to help and assist us in every way during our stay, and for his very positive hospitality attitude which stood out to the rest of the staff team members. All in all, on our future trips to Chiang Mai, we will definitely choose to stay...
Read moreLocation: We chose this riverside hotel away from the city centre to ensure a quiet stay. Most of the rooms have doors facing the main road, so have been fitted with secondary sound-proofing doors. These work fine, but the sound of traffic coming through the ceiling of our top-floor room was very loud. Being Chiang Mai Bike Week certainly didn't help. Construction was going on next door during our stay, and although this is out of control of the hotel, it was very loud from 8am on weekend mornings. View: We paid extra for a river-view room. As far as we can tell, the most any room can see of the river is a sliver through a gap between the buildings. If you're expecting to see up and down the river, forget it. A garden-view room has pretty much the same view. Room: Excellent. Lots of space, as you would expect for the price. Very nice bathroom with separate shower and bathtub. Comfortable bed and a quiet air-con. Breakfast: The usual low-quality Asian buffet, which is always cold by by the time you eat it. Freshly cooked egg dishes are available, but they're dire. Had it once, then ate out the next day. Service: Excellent. Staff were attentive and helpful, both in the breakfast room and reception. Oddity: Coin-operated washing machines available right in front of the only guest lift. Not what you expect to see in a hotel of...
