Muchshima House…
I had heard about the legend of this place since my partner stayed there 3 years ago just before Covid happened and travel slimmed right down.
I had to experience the legend for myself and so when, in June/July 2022, Thailand opened up a bit more to guests from overseas, we headed on over. And I returned yet again in August 2022 with a friend!
Muchshima House is run by two very kind souls, Golf and Dul, who are – just as close family members – very interested in the comfort, convenience, happiness and security of their guests.
Golf and Dul think of everything and help in so many practical ways with their keen knowledge of the area, of sim cards, of travel. But they are also seasoned travellers themselves, having been almost everywhere! And very interested in the backgrounds and countries of their guests. Conversation is never dry at Muchshima House, and with these two wonderful souls at the helm, it is very hard to ever check out and leave!
I haven’t even touched on Dul’s maintenance/management and Golf’s cooking! The 5-star cleaning of every guest room is unlike anything I’ve seen in a guest House, and actually superseded the 5-star resorts and hotels I either stayed in or visited in Phuket and surrounds. To say Muchshima House is immaculate is an understatement. Even as a simple and hospitable homely guest House the level of cleanliness is astounding and it’s almost like the floor sparkles. And then there is Golf’s cooking… It’s the kind of food you think about for years and years in between visits. As my partner experienced and as I now experience.
Golf sources local fresh produce and creates farm-to-table style traditional Thai dishes that are out of this world. I wish I could have stayed longer just to order every single item on the menu quite a few more times each. The love, health and abundance in Golf’s cooking is extremely memorable. Just like Golf and Dul as a friendly couple who literally know no limits when it comes to hospitality. Add to that other members of the team at Muchshima such as Mimi and Kitty, and a slightly extending team, and you’ve got a home environment that is like an oasis in a very busy and buzzing little island.
I would recommend ending every day with a dip in the Muchshima House pool, and then a dinner cooked by Golf, followed by her selection of fruit in season. There is just no better way to end a day before enjoying your sleep in their comfortable and yet very simple and non-cluttered guest rooms.
There are other services at Muchshima House as you need them. These include motorbike hire, the odd home-taxi ride, a newly established bar, washing machines, and I have even heard there will be Thai massage services available in the future. There is just no faulting Muchshima House and also no stopping these two good people who have created a wonderful environment in every way.
So – go to Muchshima House, enjoy Phuket in this very special part of the world. Walk to the beach as we did (around 20mins to Surin Beach) or hire a bike, or support a local taxi or tuk tuk driver. And at the end of the day, retreat to your little oasis. I am looking forward to...
Read moreThe rooms are rather small what you will likely have found out already. Overall it was still a really great place to stay. Many people are talking about the hosts who offer a great service and very welcoming. This is absolutely true. But I'd like to point out that so many details are really well thought through that makes it in the end barely notice the smaller room size and also helps to make the stay very pleasant. It is things like having enough hooks and hangers, having a nice light for reading at night with the right brightness, having the hangers that are readily available to drie clothes or wash mashines and scooters offered right at the location. One can tell that the owners have really put a lot of thought an love into this place and it pays off. The "product" you get here is worth every penny. Also the location might at first glance not stand out too much being a bit too far away from the to walk there for example. But the quietness and remoteness from the otherwise dominant tourism on Phuket makes it especially attractive. We stayed in a room with air condition and with a small balcony - not rooms might offer the same so book what you need. We will likely come back and we happily suggest you this place if you plan to stay in this nice area of Phuket! Highly...
Read moreI booked via Airbnb but wanted to share a Google review as well. This was the best stay I’ve ever booked regardless if it’s via Airbnb or another provider. It is a very pretty house that looks like it was designed and decorated with much care and love. The rooms are very clean and there are spaces you can sit outside nicely as well. The best thing was definitely the owners and the service. They are very kind and helpful regardless what you are asking them. This is also shown in how you meet some people there that have come back and stayed there multiple times. There is also opportunity to make contact with other travelers since the atmosphere there is very open to conversations with others as well. We made beautiful memories of our stay in Phuket due to Mushima House and would recommend it to anyone who would also like to socialize a bit while there. I’d get a motorbike (which you can rent from them as well) to get around, if you have one lots of nice places are pretty accessible. Good food is nearby as well like some markets, restaurants and so on. For those wanting to visit Bangtao Muay Thai it is a great location as well. Highly...
