Our 3rd consecutive stay at Kamala Beach Resort (Sunprime) with my wife and 3 other couples that we enticed into coming along. They were SO happy they did.| |Before I go on, special mention to the following amazing staff. Tanya at reception, Katy, Sakip & Nithi at breakfast, you make our stay all that more pleasurable. Thank You so much. ||We had our own private transfers through My Phuket Holiday to the hotel. The check-in at the hotel was efficient. This is a very large resort, so if you are in a room that is near reception, you have a long walk to the beach side of the property. |After checking in we were taken to our rooms which were a reasonable size and fully functional and well designed. The resort is very large and has an adult’s section and family section which are well separated. Over the whole resort there are 7 pools to choose from or the beach which is right on the resort’s door step. |Our rooms on the beach side had smallish type bathrooms with a single sink, large shower, but no bath. There were quite a few toiletries but only some were replenished on a daily basis. Each day you are given 2 bottles of water, but if wanted more you could just ask.|The bedroom area was large and had a king size bed which was very comfortable. There was a large TV in the room along with a large fridge, which is a pleasant surprise as most places only have a mini bar fridge. There was also a comfy couch in the room and a good-sized outside balcony which had kinda of a day bed. There was also a drying rack. There are robes and slippers and the free Wi-Fi worked well during the day but not so well first thing in the morning or early evening.|The location of the hotel was excellent as it was right on the beach, so you could choose between beach or pool. The hotel lunch menu was limited and not great however I have to say though for a resort their prices for food and drink were very reasonable. There are many great casual restaurants on the beach side of the resort. If you turned right when exiting the hotel there were all there with 100 meters.Food quality was great and so were the prices. We mainly eat at Deng’s or Lillo Island Restaurants for dinner when staying at Kamala. If you turned left when exiting the resort on the beach side this would lead you to the Kamala town, about a 5 min walk, where there are more restaurants and other facilities like pharmacies and clothing stores. There is also a night market just outside the front of the hotel on Mon, Tue, Thu and Friday.| |The buffet breakfast at the hotel has a reasonable variety and will cater for everyone’s tastes including vegans. There are 2 breakfast venues one in the middle of the resort and one on the beach side of the resort. The beach side is always busy but the other one is quieter and more chilled. They both have an egg station which are relatively efficient and you can have your eggs in a variety of ways. The breakfast staff were very friendly and made sure that any empty plates were removed from your table quickly. |The resort also has 2 large in house massage huts, where you can have full body massages or foot massages. We utilised these on a...

Read moreI chose Sunprime Kamala Beach – Phuket for my 8-night stay because of its good Google reviews, but my experience was far from pleasant. While the hotel has potential — large rooms, nice balconies, multiple pools, a quiet adults-only setting, and a beachfront location — several serious issues ruined my vacation:
No air conditioning on arrival After a long trip, I was informed that my room would have no air conditioning for most of the first day. The room was boiling hot, couldn't rest after my trip, yet I was still required to pay a deposit upon check-in. I didn’t fuss about it, but I found this unethical since the hotel could not even provide a basic utility upon arrival.
Unsafe breakfast conditions and food poisoning On day 5, I became very sick from food poisoning after eating only at the hotel — dinner the night before and breakfast that morning. I am 100% certain it came from their food. The breakfast buffet area where food is displayed has no air conditioning and becomes extremely hot, which can easily spoil the food. This is unacceptable for guest safety. When I reported my illness to the front desk, staff showed little to no concern. They said no doctor was available and only sent a thermometer after I insisted. There was no follow-up AT ALL about my condition, even though I got sick from their restaurant.
Poor facilities and maintenance
Running water frequently stopped in both the shower and toilet.
The bathroom has no ventilation, causing steam and odors to fill the room at all times.
I found cockroaches at night in the bathroom.
Lack of professionalism at checkout The receptionist pretended to be unaware that I had paid a deposit and insisted on seeing the paper slip, which should have been in their system. This raised questions about how deposits are handled and weather is applicable for every guest or its just our case,as it didnt seem to be a general rule since she was surprised im requesting my deposit back.
Massage not relaxing Although the massage itself was good and the outdoor setting was nice, the therapists constantly talked to each other during the session, ruining the relaxing atmosphere.
Overall impression: The hotel lacks a human touch. No one cared when I got sick. I lost 4 out of 8 vacation days due to food poisoning in hotel and could not enjoy the rest of my holiday. Despite some positive aspects, I would not return or...
