Twin Sea is situated up the hill in Kamala, remote and far away from everything around. If you are looking for some peace and quiet, this is the perfect place for you.
The rooms and architecture: Rooms are spacious and well made using natural materials like solid wood and stone. They have used cement flooring in a very clever way and it's a splash of modern element mixed well with solid wood finishes. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are kept clean (almost)
Amenities: •For a place located so far away upon a hill, you'd expect that they have everything you'd need. However, they lack essential things and that kind of ruins your whole experience. •Their rooftop cafe opens at 08:00 and closes at 17:00, which means that you can't get anything to eat if you're craving dinner or a snack. The closest restaurant is probably about 3.5-4 kilometres away. •Considering its proximity to anything, they don't have a bike rental service and you're basically left stranded. •The listing said that they have a kitchen, but there wasn't even a microwave in my room. •The standard tea, coffee, creamer & toiletries is provided. • They have two small infinity type swimming pools with a great view, but it's highly concentrated with chlorine. It makes for great social media photos but also red blazing eyes for those who actually want to take a dip. • No pool towels provided. You have to go back to your room and get your own towel! • They don't serve any alcohol on the premises, and the nearest place you can buy is 7/11 which is about 3 kilometres away. In short, everytime you need to step out and come back, you'd spend nearly 700 baht on cab fare.
Service: • The person at the reception is very impolite and rude, which is the complete opposite of Thai hospitality. You get a feeling that he doesn't want you there. I don't think he should be in the customer service industry at all. • Cafe staff is very sweet and welcoming and super helpful, and the housekeeping staff doesn't really talk English.
Food: • Breakfast is included and it's a hearty and lovely meal, overlooking the big blue. The quality of food is good and so is the quantity. The food is justified and is not overpriced. • They serve a variety of Thai dishes and a few European dishes too.
• Price: They do not list (on booking sites) it as a hotel, but list each room instead. There are different offers and prices on each room. I spent THB 3200 per night, but an additional 1400 in two days just to commute and move around. In my opinion, 3200 baht is kinda okay for the place, but it lacks a lot of amenities and the service isn't worth 3200 baht. After all, it's a hospitality industry. I have stayed at places that cost just 1100 baht and they treat you like royalty!
I would have loved to give a 2-star, but this place got another star only due to the cafe...
Read moreWe stayed here for 5 days. The view is stellar and the property is truly beautiful. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the city so if you are looking for some quiet time away, this might be the place. However do note that everything is far from here and definitely not walkable distance. You need a car or bike to drive and nearest will be patong beach which is still a 15-20 mins drive.
Cons: Most of the staff are quite helpful but they jerked us around a lot for renting a bike. Even when we told them we need bike for the next day and informed ahead of time they gave it to someone else and gave us unclear responses. Without a bike it is very expensive & hard to leave the property so we were very disheartened by this. Also for half an hour extension of bike usage they still ask us to pay for a whole day (understandable but why no goodwill for your guest?) Plenty of insects and lizards that enter the room at night Some days they did not give us towel despite requesting many times. They claim they do not get laundry done until 2pm On Mondays apparently their in house restaurant is closed but they actually don’t inform this to guests so when we tried to get food we only got informed then No phones in the room to call for room service so you either have to directly call them using mobile phone or go in person Nobody on the property after 6pm sometimes. One of the days, we had an emergency in the evening and couldn’t find anybody to help us. We had to call the owner If you book grab it is very expensive to go anywhere. Minimum will have to pay 500-700 baht. Similarly if you want to order food it’s difficult also because drivers won’t pick up the delivery since place is very secluded (we faced this issue especially at night) The roads leading to this hotel are very steep and in the night it is not well lit so you have to be very careful...
Read moreWe stayed on the property for 5 days and as much as i loved the view and property there are plenty of reasons why we would not return here.
The location is quite secluded with no shops or restaurants nearby. The view is amazing with a decent room and a good sit out. The main issue with the property is with the a few of the staff who try to milk you for every dollar. I wouldn't call them rude but are extremely inhospitable and don't try to make your stay any easier. The worst encounters i had with them was while renting their bike. They charge an entire day's fee for even an extra hour and the bikes are extremely fragile to stay the least with the breaks constantly feeling like they might breakdown anytime soon. Given the inaccessibility of the location one would atleast expect their restaurant to be open throught the day which was shut on monday with no prior intimation to the guests and closes at 6.30pm in the evening. After a 5 day stay i would think it's fair to ask for a late check out for a couple of hours but the entire converstaion with the manager was just plain difficult and finally he just wanted us to pay up more cash though he didn't have a booking lined up. It's disheartening to say the least to see such a beautiful property being mismanaged by people who don't understand how the hospitality industry works. And FYI the place is also crawling...
