Overall not a bad stay for the price paid, definitely not a 5. Certain parts of the hotel look like a 5 resort but others are very tired and the staff/service are a let down.

Cons

Poor wifi, constantly drops out and you have to login each time it does that.

Poor service, very slow unwilling to go the extra mile. No one asks if you want food or drinks, you have to find someone and wait a while. As per other reviews plates and cups are left lying around for hours. Waited one hour for room service menu to be brought to our room and had to call 3 times. When we ordered and the food came, our plates were still outside our room at 10am the next day. Weirdly there are plenty of staff who are friendly just extremely un proactive and sat around a lot of the time.

Room isn’t cleaned until 4/5pm which aligns with when we have returned for the day to get changed/showered for an evening.

Pool towels run out midday and not replenished until 5pm and no offer of the use of a bath towels.

Food was average at best. Wouldn’t recommend eating in the hotel, much cheaper and nicer food available in Kamala. The sticky mango rice is delicious though!

I’m lactose intolerant and ordering an iced coffee was fine one day then not the next… the person working at the pool bar claiming their didn’t do soy milk… when I explained I’d had soy milk the day before he went to check and brought some back. Again it’s the lack of effort… he couldn’t be bothered to check even if he was unsure, it was easier to tell us they didn’t do soy milk.

Pros

Lovely room which was clean and spacious. Absolutely as described. Big and comfy bed. Lacking pillows. I think we struck lucky with our room, it was close to the pool and seemed newly renovated compared to other reviews.

Good location, close enough to get taxi to Kamala but far enough out to be quiet. We wished the shuttle did more, they only stick to the provided times. Back and fourth in taxis at 200 baht soon add up. Also we went for dinner at a neighbouring hotel, (Andarra, Silk restaurant) which was amazing, it is a bit far and hilly to walk so we got a taxi, but no offer of the shuttle bus even though it’s 5 mins away. Andarra brought us back in their own shuttle free of charge, what you’d expect from a 5* resort, they were happy to go the extra mile service wise so the comparison was pretty stark.

Beautiful views. You can see across the bay and it is stunning.

Breakfast was good with an array of options. Plenty of seats an

To summarise: Namaka is missing the extra touches and service which would make this a 5*. It has potential but needs more pro active staff. Management needed to give it as shake up. For the price we paid it isn’t terrible but if you expect 4 or 5 star service it’s not the place for you. Make sure you ask for a low down room as the higher ones are extremely high up (as other reviews no lifts …!) at the time of booking the reviews were good, based on our experience and other recent reviews we would...

A Tranquil Retreat with Room for Improvement

Nestled on the picturesque shores of Kamala Beach in Phuket, Namaka Resort offers an enchanting escape for travelers seeking luxury and relaxation. With its stunning ocean views, elegant accommodations, and impeccable service, the resort promises an unforgettable stay. However, despite its many virtues, there are some areas where improvement is needed.

Upon arrival, I was immediately captivated by the resort's serene ambiance and breathtaking surroundings. The lush tropical gardens, tranquil lagoons, and sparkling infinity pools create a sense of paradise that instantly transports guests to a world of tranquility.

The accommodations at Namaka Resort are equally impressive, boasting spacious villas and suites adorned with modern amenities and stylish furnishings. My room, with its private balcony overlooking the azure waters of the Andaman Sea, provided the perfect retreat after a day of exploration. However, there was one drawback that detracted from an otherwise perfect experience—the air conditioner in the room was notably noisy. While it effectively cooled the space, the constant hum was a minor inconvenience that disrupted the peaceful atmosphere.

Despite this minor issue, the resort's dining options were a highlight of my stay. From sumptuous seafood feasts served beachside to innovative fusion cuisine crafted by talented chefs, every meal was a culinary delight. The attentive service and stunning views only added to the dining experience, making each meal a memorable occasion.

In addition to its exceptional accommodations and dining, Namaka Resort offers a wealth of recreational activities to suit every taste. Whether lounging by the pool, indulging in a spa treatment, or exploring the natural beauty of Phuket through guided excursions, there is no shortage of ways to unwind and rejuvenate.

What truly sets Namaka Resort apart, however, is the warmth and hospitality of its staff. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with genuine smiles and gracious service that made me feel truly welcome. Whether attending to requests, offering local recommendations, or simply sharing a friendly conversation, the staff's dedication to guest satisfaction was evident at every turn.

In conclusion, Namaka Resort Kamala offers a tranquil retreat with much to commend. Its stunning location, luxurious accommodations, and attentive service create an atmosphere of relaxation and indulgence. However, the noisy air conditioner in the room detracted from an otherwise flawless experience. With attention to this detail, Namaka Resort has the potential to elevate its status as a premier destination for discerning travelers seeking the ultimate in luxury...

I'll start with the good things.

The hotel is perched on a hillside with views towards the ocean and the Kamala Beach Bay. This view can be seen from the pools (there are three), the restaurant, and most of the rooms. We were on the 2nd floor, and our view was good. I'm not sure about the lower floor.

If you're after a quieter Phuket experience or if you have small children, it's pretty ideal. It's about a two minute taxi down to Kamala Beach - around 25 minutes' walk - and there is a small beach in front of the hotel. You just need to cross a small, mostly unused road to get there. Keep in mind that the beaches are very tide dependent, and there are sharp looking rocks beneath the surface.

The staff, like in most of Thailand, are very polite. In some cases, helpful.

Now, for the other part of my review.

The hotel seems, for the most part, to be very run down. I understand that after the pandemic and the recent floods, times have been hard, so that didn't really worry me. The greater issue is the lack of cleanliness. From the coffee cup next to our pool lounger from a previous occupant that was never taken away to the general ickiness of the floors in the pool area, stairways, and corridors.

The lady in charge of our floor was very sweet, getting me an ironing board and iron (neither from the last decade), and providing extra towels when we needed them. But I never got that feeling of coming back to a sparkling clean room after being out all day. The room constantly felt a bit grubby.

The room itself is nice enough. There is a kettle and fridge, but if you like more than 1 coffee a day, you'll need to pop down to the 7-11 for more sachets. The bathroom has a strange design, with an akward sunken bath and an odd little step that my husband nearly broke his neck falling on.

The service was mostly lackluster. If you want a drink by the pool, you need to haul yourself to the bar and get it yourself. No one will approach you to ask if you need anything, and nothing will be cleared away.

We sat at dinner with our empty plates in front of us for 45 minutes. No one came to clear them. No one approached us to ask how the meal was. I had to get up to ask to be served. The food itself, including breakfast, was okay. Don't order the salad nicoise. It consists of lettuce, 2 pitted olives thinly sliced, 5 small pieces of salmon, 3 green beans, and a sliced boiled egg. The dressing is oil and garlic.

Overall, this could be a fantastic hotel. It really seems to need new management, which was noticeably absent. All it needs is someone at the helm with pride in cleanliness and service to whip it into its...

We had a great stay! The views are great, and staff lovely. Housekeeping came everyday, and we had no toiletries issue like other reviewers. Plenty of shampoo, soap, towels, water, coffee; and my brother in law picked up a razor from reception. Beds comfy. 4stars because the hotel is difficult for mobility issues. My mom has knee problems, we had a 2 month old baby and stroller too. Definitely not wheelchair accessible. It’s located 15/20 mins walk from Kamala, and it’s an easy walk but you don’t want to do it all the time. I did it myself or with my brother in law, but there is no proper sidewalk for a stroller. Hotel shuttle ends at 5pm, so you end up paying 200THB for 5min ride (compare this to 1000THB for 35-45mins to Phuket Airport). It adds up quickly… once a driver wanted to charge us 400Thb back after dinner. Seriously. The hotel restaurant isn’t great. We did Grab a few times, walked into town for takeaways a few times; but did the restaurant for convenience a lot. Paid for a lot of taxis… The captive hotel restaurant has gorgeous views and lovely staff, and food is edible but just taste disappointing. This would make us reconsider coming back here. Hope it improves! Mobility issues beware! There’s no lift and you’ll have to climb up and down steps to get to rooms / breakfast area etc, carry strollers. We downgraded from premium sea view rooms (with daybeds!) to the cheaper rooms closer to reception / breakfast / shuttle (my mom has knee issues and couldn’t do the steps, and we had a baby stroller too). No refund… or complimentary vouchers for the downgrade. Even once we downgraded, there’s steps everywhere. The nearby beach was nice - went there with my niece and nephew, didn’t go into the water. Think it’s a bit muddy and very shallow for long stretch so not great for swimming. Saw lots of cute little hermit crabs.
