Moonway Bungalows — Hotel in Ko Pha Ngan

We spent three nights here – two in Apartment 3 and one in Apartment 1. Overall, it was a pleasant stay with an amazing view, but there are a few things future guests should be aware of.

Pros ✅ • Incredible balcony view (the highlight of the property) • Modern equipment with kitchen, bathroom, bed, and nice balcony • Apartment 3: very comfortable bed • Very fast communication via WhatsApp (no reception needed) • Very friendly and attentive cleaning staff • Excellent cleanliness: no insects or bugs in the room • Flexible and helpful hosts: when we asked to extend our stay by one night, they responded immediately and arranged another room for us without any problem – we were very grateful for that

Cons ❌ • Apartment 1: mattress was far too hard • Very steep stair climb to Apartments 1–5 (challenging with luggage) • Apartments are extremely noisy/poorly insulated • Large construction site directly behind the property (work from around 8:30 AM–9:00 PM, though we received a discounted rate for this) • Nearby disco can be heard clearly (bass is noticeable in the room, earplugs are provided)

Stayed here for six nights. Unfortunately this was my worst stay in Koh Phangang during my 2.5 month stay.

Cons: They advertise falsely by saying there might be construction site noise, and false marketing is just unacceptable in my opinion. There IS, 100% surely, construction site noise every single day of the week from 8am to 5-6pm and it is so loud that it ruins the accommodation during daytime. The construction site looks like it will be easily going for another year at least so take that into consideration when booking. Soundproofing in the bungalow is non existent. The shower's water pressure was weak. -The price does not reflect the value considering that cleaning happens every five days (unless you request something else), there is really no onsite staff, and when compared to the rest of the island. ~35€ per night would be the right ballpark. The climb up is horrible and dangerous so unless you are moderately fit, don't book this. I don't know why they have not built proper stairs. Also there is a once a week party on a bar on top of a nearby hill, which blasts music so hard that the whole bays sleep is...

Our stay at Moonway Bungalows was nothing short of magical. The bungalows are thoughtfully spaced out, giving you a level of privacy that makes it feel like your own personal paradise, unlike the usual crowded hotel vibe. Each bungalow is equipped with everything you need, including a spacious balcony/terrace that offers a front-row seat to the most breathtaking sunsets you could imagine—likely one of the best spots on the island for sunset views.

The walk up and down the hill, surrounded by stunning natural landscapes and rugged rocks, adds to the charm and gives you a true taste of Thailand's beauty. Staying here felt more like coming home than just being on holiday. The rooms seem newly built, modern, and beautifully designed, further enhancing the feeling of comfort and relaxation. We enjoyed it so much that we even extended our stay!

The level of privacy is exceptional, and it's an ideal spot if you're looking to unwind in peace. The hosts are incredibly kind and attentive, always making sure that everything is perfect, and the cleaner was also very friendly, adding to the welcoming atmosphere.
