When I booked this resort online, I was not sure about it, but the bungalow with a private pool and the beach access available here convinced me to give it a shot, and we were not disappointed! We had a really comfortable and private bungalow with amazing views and a private pool, as well as easy access to Freedom Beach. This is a 3 star resort on listing sites online, but I would rate it much higher. I rated it only 4 stars in my review here because it is a bit isolated and there is not much within easy walking distance, and for those with mobility issues, it would not be ideal because of all of the stairs to get around the resort.. Other than that, it was absolutely perfect for us. They actually have two beaches, both very easy to access and both with bars and restaurants. Freedom Beach is public, adn gets busy most days, but it is still very beautiful and enjoyable. Our room was perfect with good A/C, decent WiFi, a small fridge and other little amenities. The views from our room were nothing short of amazing, especially at sunset. The staff made sure that we had plenty of bottled water every day and plenty of fresh towels. The staff overall was very friendly and helpful, and most spoke fairly good English. The breakfast bar was fairly good. The hotel offers free shuttle service to the pier and they picked us up and dropped us off there. They have scooters available for rent for 300 baht a day (less than $10 US), if you want to see the island on your own. They will also call taxis for you anytime. Taxis cost between 500 and 900 baht (15 to 30 dollars US) to go to other places via taxi on the island from here. Another option is getting a water taxi to pick you up or drop you off at Freedom Beach. Water taxis will cost between 400 and 900 baht ( about $10 to 25 US one way) to travel to different places on the island, or you can also rent a water taxi for the day. Snorkeling gear is available for rent on Freedom Beach for 50 baht (about one dollar and a half). They also have sea kayaks available for rent there. The hotel will arrange any day trips or excursions for you with local tour companies, or you can hire a driver for the day to go anywhere that you like. Overall, we had a 5 star experience here and we will likely return as well as recommend this...
Read moreMy partner, her mother and I spent seven days at this resort. What a phenomenal experience. The bed was super soft and comfortable, the shower always had hot and cold water with great pressure, the bungalows are massive for two people, we had room to dance and do yoga, the AC blasted cool air on the hot days and the room was well insulated, keeping us warm on the rainy days.
The balcony and our view were top notch. Every morning we would see the sun rising above the horizon across the bay. Every evening, the sunsets were worth every cent.
The continental breakfast had a good mix of muesli, fruits and Yoghurt, traditional Thai breakfast foods, whole grain bread, different styles of eggs and a mini salad with dressings. The young men would always offer us black coffee and milk as soon as we sat down.
The staff were very kind and helpful, even after working incredibly long days. They all deserve a huge round of applause for efforts that were put forth. We asked a huge list of questions throughout our week at the resort and every time a staff member answered us with quick responses, helpful information and a friendly smile. I am impressed.
The daily cleaning crew were convenient for delivering water, toilet paper and fresh towels. This was a pleasure to have as part of the room and not have to seek out the conversation each day with the staff.
The beaches and view point you have access to because of the location are also high quality. The general public will pay 50 baht per person to enjoy the same spots, which is a small reason we booked Relax Freedom Resort. We spent three separate days at Freedom Beach and Taa Toh Beach, renting out snorkels one day and being lucky enough to spot two large turtles eating around 5 o' clock. The staff helped us in choosing a direction to swim. Huge shout out! You have made our trip one we will...
Read moreOur room was brand new, the bed was soft, the pillows were fluffy, the linens smelled great! The view was just incredible. I think this is the best hotel on the island for a romantic secluded beach bungalow stay (we stayed at 2 other bungalow hotel on koh tao)
All the bungalows and the hotel are built into a mountain so Be aware that there are lots of stairs everywhere and they are steep but so worth it when you get to your cozy comfortable room
The road to the hotel is quite steep so it is a bit of a mission to get anywhere in the island. The hotel provides free transfer to and from the pier. Unfortunately they do not provide free transfer within the island and instead a taxi is really $$ — 400 bhat one way
The hotel is very well staffed! All the staff are very friendly, attentive, helpful and have great English
The breakfast is generous and the restaurants are yum! Don’t skip the tuna and chicken sandwich, the chicken salad, And the chicken cashew and the yellow curry. Basically all the food was good 😅
I wish the hotel would offer a half board option with dinner included bc it’s a hassle to get to and from the hotel and the view and the peacefulness at the restaurant is so great we often chose to eat there each night. Prices were reasonable for Thailand
They will do laundry (60 bhat/kilo)
You can always charge everything to the room which was super convenient
You will have direct access to 2 of the best beaches on the island and the view point
Basically, we loved it and can’t wait to go back. Thank you...
