It’s nicely built and you sit outside. Doesn’t have a view but gives you the feeling of a hidden restaurant. The outside seating area is nice but has no fans at the main area. It’s pretty booked and for this reason I guess the staff doesn’t really care about your stay. The waiter was okay but the waitress couldn’t care less. Didn’t looked us in the eyes once and just put the food on the table and went away. Not a single nice word. We didn’t feel welcomed at this restaurant. The food was okay but not that good and after the good reviews we were really disappointed. We had beef with garlic and peppercorn plus the stir fried pumpkin and for the start we had eggplant katsu - which was better than the main dishes. Would say it was the “worst” experience so far on Koh Tao. We’re definitely not coming back. Really disappointed after all the good reviews and we were really looking forward to this evening. The bartender seemed really nice and is probably the one with the most knowledge...
Read moreAnanas was recommended to us by a couple of tourists we met on the island. We decided to try it and we're extremely happy that we did! Ananas is an incredible restaurant. The location, the vibe, the service and the food were spectacular. We were a group of 7, 3 adults and 4 kids. We tried the Phanaeng Curry with Crispy Chicken, the stir fried rice with Crispy Chicken, Chicken skewers, Parmesan Chicken and a hamburger. All were very good but the Phanaeng Curry, stir fried rice and Parmesan Chicken stood out for the good. Also, the mango shakes were freshly made and delicious and my son says the Thai Ice tea he had at Ananas was the best he ever had.
Bottom line, if you're on Koh Tao you want...
Read moreI’m really hoping this place just had an off night. The Khao Soi chicken was delightful but unfortunately the Pad Thai was terrible. Possibly the worst I’ve had in Thailand. It’s almost as if they no forgot to season it at all. I will come back and try some other things on the menu because it seems like they know what they are doing back in the kitchen. Edit: We went back. The Khao Soi chicken again was good but the Thai fried chicken, chili and egg curry was severely under seasoned. I’m so torn on this place. They nail so many aspects of a nice restaurant but they fail to deliver on fundamental taste time and time again. Worth a try but only for the Khao Soi because I haven’t seen anyone...
