Veranda Resort Pattaya - MGallery Collection — Hotel in Pattaya City

Veranda, one of those highly acclaimed among the Thais I heard so much about. They have hotels throughout the kingdom such as Hua Hin and Chiangmai. Must be good I thought, all them pictures looks so wonderful. Well then, to Pattaya it is, a night of stay.

Veranda in Pattaya is actually kind of a half hotel and half condominium, with the block up front nearer the beach being ran as a hotel. If you are expecting a good wide horizon view of the sea, like me, you will be utterly disappointed unless you burn huge holes in pocket for ocean front units. I have picked to stay in the Family Pool Suite with its own private pool, something pricy. Pricy… shouldn’t go wrong. Well then, I was treated to a very exciting and close view of silver minivans along the parking lot accompanied by a backdrop of 2 cranes that went about doing their own business. The drivers of the vans loitering below were also treated to the view of me splashing about in the pool like a beached whale struggling to reach deeper open water. I won’t call it a pool, it was small. Since privacy is actually to be called transparency in the unit I stayed, so low to the ground floor, we cocooned ourselves in 95% of the time. Fortunately, room is huge, separated bedroom with its own TV, living room, 2 bunk beds that can sleep 2 children, a large table I can happily work.

Veranda is built on those typical rectangular plots of land. This is the way of Thailand. Therefore, any worthy real estate is limited to that short breadth along its edges which could account for less than 20% of the perimeter. And that’s where all the advertise pictures were taken.

Now disappointment number 2 was, have you ever seen a floating pool of ants that had drowned in that cup of sugary water you accidentally left out overnight? That was how crowded the pool is while I was there. Add the residence from behind to the equation of weekend guest, seclusion and serenity evaporates. And it was the same for breakfast, it was too crowded and people had to wait. But I have to praise the stuffs that catered to the morning crowd. The buffet spread was never empty and when some were, it was quickly refilled. My palate was only slightly tickled by their breakfast, it was average. And I had to apply150nm of torque to turn the pepper grinder and nothing came out. So, I ate my sunny side up plain.

There is actually a lovely coffee shack to the left the hotel on the shoreline. It is situated on sandy grounds and the best food I had was there. Crafted burgers, so greasy, juicy and messy when eaten. The burst of beefiness explodes in every bite of that layered sin. The buns they heated, added that fluffiness and the sacred umami of the grill. Mouthwatering just thinking about it. But, expect a crowd. Unless, it’s really one of those boring working weekdays. I did go for a second time for burger there a week or so after my stay. It was during the course of work and I detoured to have lunch. And I really enjoyed my burger in peace with...

Love & Lattes: The Breakfast Club’s King Kong Romance

At Veranda Resort Pattaya Na Jomtien, breakfast wasn’t just a meal—it was a masterpiece, orchestrated daily by the legendary Breakfast Club. Led by the dynamic duo Nun and Dear, the team served up not just food, but an experience, a symphony of flavors, warmth, and charm. But among all the guests they greeted each morning, there was one who stood out—one they secretly adored.

His name? King Kong.

Not the one from the movies, but a giant in his own right—a man of mystery, presence, and an insatiable love for coffee, bananas, and much, much more. He arrived every morning like clockwork, his steps steady, his aura commanding. He had a way of ordering his extra-strong coffee that made it sound like poetry, and when he smiled, the entire resort seemed to bask in his warmth.

Nun was the first to fall. She found herself watching him from across the buffet, secretly adjusting his plate before he even picked it up, ensuring he always had the perfect balance of crispy bacon and sweet tropical fruit. His love for bananas? Legendary. And so, every morning, she made sure the freshest, ripest ones were waiting just for him.

Dear wasn’t far behind. She admired how he sipped his coffee with a quiet intensity, how he took his time, as if savoring every moment. She made it her mission to perfect his cup each morning, experimenting with different roasts and textures until one day, he took a sip, looked up at her, and simply said, “This… is the one.”

That was the moment.

The Breakfast Club was smitten. The way he greeted them, laughed with them, remembered their names—it was impossible not to fall in love a little more each day. His presence was a gift, his words a melody, his appetite a challenge they gladly accepted.

Then, one fateful morning, as the golden sun spilled over the horizon, King Kong did something unexpected. He took his coffee, grabbed a banana, and instead of heading to his usual spot, he sat right at the counter, facing them.

Nun gasped. Dear nearly spilled the cappuccino she was making. The team exchanged glances, hearts pounding.

My recent stay at Veranda Pattaya Resort by MGallery was truly an exceptional experience. This hidden gem strikes the perfect balance between Thai hospitality and modern luxury. LOCATION: Perfectly positioned in Na Jomtien, about 15 minutes south of central Pattaya, the resort offers the best of both worlds. While not in the heart of Pattaya's nightlife and shopping districts, this separation is actually a blessing, creating a tranquil retreat.

DINE + DRINK:The culinary offerings at Veranda Pattaya are truly impressive. The main restaurant serves exceptional Thai cuisine alongside international dishes, with fresh seafood being a highlight. The beachfront dining experience was magical, especially during sunset hours. But THE HIGHLIGHT of the F&B offerings was the stunning Rooftop bar that comes alive during sunset hours - an experience not to be missed for sure!

ROOM: I stayed in Room 2618, which was a SEA VIEW room, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; VIEW: Partial view of the OCEAN which was spectacular during sunset - when experienced from the cute BALCONY attached to the room; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM:Good sized bathroom with a Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Excellent Spa quality toiletries by THANN luxury brand.

FACILITIES: Good Gym with a decent range of weights and Cardio machines. Stunning infinity pool that was huge and a great place to soak yourself during sunset with a sundowner in hand!
