Shalimar Hammamet — Hotel in Maghreb

This is a 3 star hotel in my opinion not a 4. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend staying here, let me start by saying I am not a fussy person and normally take bad reviews with a pinch of salt but this is my honest opinion. I will start with the positives.

The staff are all really friendly, helpful and hardworking. The hotel is in a good location only a very short walk to the beach. The aircon in my room worked well and the rooms and facilities were clean and tidy. The WiFi in the hotel was pretty good and works by the pool.

Negatives: For me the worst thing by far was the food. It just really isn't good and the services was chaotic. Meal times was a free for all, if you didn't come at the start of the service then you had to find a table that was free and clean which was difficult as the staff couldn't seem to keep up with cleaning the tables and replacing the glasses and cutlery etc, the staff were meant to come take drink orders but were very slow and in general it was just disorganised. I am not a picky eater but I really didn't enjoy most of the food, it was either very bland, cold or just not appealing. Another example of why this isn't a 4 star hotel is that desert came with plastic spoons, there were no metal spoons in the place so I was sat in a supposed 4 star hotel eating my desert with a plastic spoon like a child every night. The beach bar, when I booked this trip I imagined myself having a nice beer on the beach however when we got there the beach bar is just a hut with a chest fridge in it, they don't serve alcohol but the most annoying part to me was that when I just wanted a soft drink I was given it in one of those tiny cups that you get from the water cooler that's gone in 2 gulps. So in reality the beach bar is a small selection of soft drinks that isn't really worth the walk up to the bar for. Please be aware that you also have to rent out towels for the pool and beach they are not provided by the hotel and you have to leave a cash deposit. I didn't bring any cash with me and they don't have that service in the hotel so I had to get a taxi to a cashpoint to get cash out before I could get a towel and I was told the hotel would change any remaining cash I had back at the end of my holiday but when it came to the end they said I had to do it at the airport, so was given conflicting information. The rooms are OK, they are dated and in my opinion more of a 3 star level but they were fine so no major issues there. If you are looking for a relaxing time at the pool to sit back and read a book like I wanted to then good luck, the music around the pool is far too loud and is blasting from 10am - 11pm. I found it hard initially to try and drown the music out and consentate on my book and the music was always the same. You only have one choice of beer which is the local one but it is quite nice and the cocktails aren't proper cocktails, the bar is actually quite limited. I like rum myself but they didn't have any rum it's just gin, vodka and whisky. Pretty much everyone in the hotel speaks French, a lot of the staff don't speak much English but one of the ladies on the desk did any was very helpful and all of the animators do speak good English. This isn't really a negative but just thought I'd add it in.

Basically I wouldn't recommend staying here, for the money you are paying you are getting a 3 star hotel at best with terrible food I think there are better...

Unser Urlaub endet langsam, deshalb wird es Zeit, uns zu bedanken. Wir sind 2 Erwachsene und 3 Kinder und machen zum ersten Mal Urlaub im Ausland. Nach einer anstrengenden Anreise, wurde wir gegen 23 Uhr sehr freundlich und unkompliziert empfangen, uns wurde geholfen das Gepäck zu unserem Zimmer zu bringen und es gab sogar noch eine Kleinigkeit zu essen für uns. So, wie der Urlaub begann, war auch die erste Nacht, geschlafen haben wir alle sehr gut. Am nächsten Tag konnte der Urlaub richtig beginnen. Wir lernten die Örtlichkeiten kennen, verschafften uns einen Überblick der Anlage, suchten uns ein schönes Plätzchen am Pool und begannen zu entspannen und zu genießen. Wir verbrachten die Tage ohne Aufregung, so wie wir uns das vorgestellt haben: essen, baden im Pool und im Meer, liegen in der tunesischen Sonne, mehr wollten wir gar nicht. Ich habe einige Jahre in der Hotellerie und Gastronomie verbracht und weiß, dass alles mit den Mirarbeitern steht und fällt. Neben der Hotelausstattung ist das Team das wichtigste! Und hier ist ein sehr, sehr gutes Team für seine Gäste jederzeit da. Angefangen von den Rezeptionisten, dem Housekeeping, den Servicemitarbeitern, der Küchenmannschaft, der Technik, jeder einzelne hat dazu beigetragen, dass wir uns wohlfühlen, eine tolle Teamleistung. Eine defekte Klimaanlage im Zimmer wurde in kürzester Zeit repariert, sehr gut. Die Zimmer waren stets sehr sauber und schön hergerichtet, tolle Arbeit. Eine Quad-Tour wurde organisiert, bei der die Kinder den meisten Spaß hatten, ein schönes Erlebnis. Das Animations-Team macht einen tollen Job, das Angebot ist vielfältig, mit tollen Shows am Abend. Alle machen einen großartigen Job, ohne aufdringlich zu sein, was mit Sichetheit allen Gästen wichtig ist. Auch das Serivepersonal macht einen tollen Job, immer freundlich, lustig und immer auf Zack. Es wurde jeden Abend "unser" Tisch freigehalten, schön dekoriert. Ab und zu wurden spezielle Cocktails als kleine Überraschung serviert, was gerade bei meiner Frau sehr gut ankam, danke dafür. Kulinarisch haben wir nichts vermisst, es gab an den Buffets immer wieder was neues zu entdecken. Natürlich gab es das ein oder andere Gericht, was dem persönlichen Geschmack nicht entsprach, Geschmäcker sind verschieden. Auch gab es Gerichte, die es jeden Tag am Buffet gab, wie zum Beispiel Pizza, Pasta oder Salate, aber ich freute mich, wenn mir etwas schmeckte, ich es nochmal an einem anderen Tag genießen konnte; tolle Team-Leistung. Auch alle anderen Mitarbeiter, die auf der Anlage unterwegs sind, erkundigen sich nach dem Wohlbefinden und geben das Gefühl willkommen zu sein. Ein Highlight war der Geburtstag eines unserer Kinder. Wir wollen lediglich einen gedeckten Tisch zum Frühstück, aber denkste. Es gab nicht nur einen toll hergerichteten Tisch, sondern auch noch eine Geburtagstorte und ein Ständchen von Miratbeitern von Küche, Service und Housekeeping. Auch zum Abendessen fanden wir einen herrlichen gedeckten, mit Blumen dekorierten Tisch vor. Nicht nur das, nachdem sich der Geburtstag rumgesprochen hatte, gab es am Abend im Zimmer die nächste Überraschung, um unserer Tochter eine Freude zu machen. Das nenne ich tollen Service! Vielen Dank dafür. An der ein oder Stelle sieht man, dass das Hause schon viele Gäste hatte, da mal eine gebroche Fliese, dort ein Kratzer im Lack des Bettkastens. Trotzdem war bei uns alles sauber.

Für uns geht ein wunderbarer Urlaub langsam zum Ende. Den letzten Tag werden wir in vollen Zügen genießen, mit tollen Menschen die sich ganz wunderbar um uns kümmern.

Séjour du 29 juin au 12 juillet 2024, quelques remarques à prendre en compte si vous envisagez de réserver dans cet hôtel. Chambre: spacieuse, propre, quelques prises qui ne fonctionnent pas, accès directe à la piscine (supplément payé lors de la réservation) qui nous arrangeait bien la journée mais aussi juste devant le box d'animation qui laisse la musique jusqu'à 23h, manque juste un étendoir à linges sur la terrasse. Par contre, très bruyant dans les couloirs, quand le voisin rentre dans sa chambre vous avez l'impression qu'il entre dans la vôtre. Piscine: Grande, très agréable, nous sortions vers 9h et nous avons toujours trouvé des transats, musique trop forte. Piscine intérieure fermée tout au long de notre séjour Toboggans: ouvert de 10h à 12h et de 15h à 17h. On nous a interdit l'accès à notre fils de 3 ans pour lequel nous avons proposé de signer une décharge qui a été acceptée par le directeur après négociation (évidemment le petit n'allait pas seul, il était toujours accompagné de son papa). Maître-nageur en haut qui est la plupart du temps sur son téléphone et en bas ne sont pas plus attentifs alors attention à vos enfants parce que le bassin de réception est assez profond (pour un enfant) Plage: très sale et dangereux, ne sortez jamais pieds nus, beaucoup de blessures constatées (verres cassés, clous, morceaux de céramique, épines,...). La plage n'est jamais nettoyée, il y a énormément d'algues. Il vaut mieux aller sur les côtés. Par contre, transats toujours disponible, et bar OK! Restaurants : tables en suffisance, buffet varié mais qualité médiocre, mauvaise organisation qui engendre des files, crêpes et omelettes tous les matins (très bonnes), restaurant tunisien qui ne sert à rien si ce n'est le beau décor, il y fait très chaud et ils nous servent ce qu'il y a de traditionnel au resto principal. Nous avons tous eu de sacrées crampes au ventre et gastro! Animation : beaucoup d'activités proposées, dress code chaque soir, soirée white du samedi vraiment sympa, journée tunisienne, karaoke, soirée jeux, danseuse tout sauf orientale, charmeur de serpent, fakir,... soirée parfois à l'amphithéâtre et parfois devant le box d'animation... Personnel : Animateurs toujours motivés, agréables. Femme de ménage (chambre) sympathique et compétente. Personnel de la réception à l'écoute mais expéditif. Bar et restaurant pas très agréable sauf si vous donnez de l'argent... Exception pour 2 ou 3 personnes, notamment Marwen (bar) qui est vraiment très sympa. Excursions : beaucoup de choses proposées mais il faut négocier. Cela revient bien moins cher de faire les choses par vos propres moyens. À chaque activité, ils vont essayer de vous vendre tout et n'importe quoi (photo, bandanas,...) en insistant beaucoup trop. Extérieur : Le port de Yasmine Hammamet n'est pas très loin (5 dinars en taxi) et est sympa à voir le soir mais vous serez ennuyé par les personnes qui veulent vous vendre des choses, beaucoup d'animaux (caméléon, aigle, perroquet,...) qui vous coûtent aussi de l'argent si vous vous arrêtez... calèche avec des chevaux dans un sale état,... Restaurants assez cher puisque touristique. Si vous souhaitez manger correctement et traditionnel n'hésitez pas à vous rendre au restaurant Ettahrir 2 (carrément de l'autre côté, 10 dinar depuis l'hôtel) où le repas vous coûtera presque moins cher que le trajet aller/retour.
