My experience at the Marabha Beach Hotel was awful. I don't even know where to start. It's advertised as a 4-star hotel, but it's not even 2 stars. The only positive thing is that the cleaners come every day and they clean very well, so please reward them. However, the negative aspects outweigh any positives. The staff is the most unprofessional I have ever encountered in my life. They are rude, focused only on tips and money. If you don't tip them every day, they refuse to serve you anymore. At the restaurant, the staff is extremely pushy and unprofessional. They seem clueless about their duties, and I had to ask for water numerous times every time I dined there. They lack basic organizational skills and are incapable of managing more than three tables. The managers simply stroll around without caring about the clients, giving orders to the waitstaff who are poorly trained. After just two visits to the restaurant, I resorted to serving myself drinks and water. It's unbelievable. The food was terrible, with the same uninspired dishes served every day. I traveled all the way to Tunisia to experience local cuisine, not the subpar food I eat at home. Additionally, the quantity of food is excessive while the quality is nonexistent. The same dishes are offered for two consecutive days, and their quality is appalling. Now, let's address the issue with the waitstaff. As a solo female traveler, the experience was horrendous. People at the hotel, especially in the restaurant area, harassed me with questions and requests for my number, displaying zero professionalism. Furthermore, one night, the man behind the pizza section made a pizza in the shape of a heart for me and then had the audacity to touch my bottom twice. I immediately demanded that he stop and never speak to me again. I was shocked and disgusted, barely able to eat that night. To make matters worse, a couple of these men found me on Instagram and continued to message me incessantly until I blocked them all. The entertainment team was no better. They lacked the basic skills to entertain people and displayed zero professionalism. Their approach was rude, treating guests as if they were obligated to do their job regardless of attitude. They exhibited a complete lack of cultural understanding and were unable to engage in even the most basic conversations that didn't involve being clowns or using inappropriate language. Their behavior was low class and far from relaxing. One of the team members even had the audacity to ask for my number and social media accounts mere seconds after meeting me. When I politely declined, he treated me disrespectfully. There was no professionalism whatsoever, not even a simple greeting of good morning or good evening. It was extremely unsettling. I felt compelled to have a face-to-face conversation with him to address his increasingly inappropriate behavior and remind him to remain professional. My holiday experience was a nightmare. I didn't relax at all; instead, I was surrounded by unprofessional individuals, subjected to sexual harassment, and felt constantly followed by the staff. Furthermore, the reception team was equally disappointing. Despite specifying on my booking that it was my birthday, upon arrival, nothing was done to acknowledge it. When I reminded the receptionist, her response was lackluster, simply asking for my room number without any follow-up. Despite my reminder, nothing changed, and I encountered nothing but problems throughout my stay. Lastly, the clientele at the hotel were incredibly cheap. There were problems and dramas EVERY SINGLE DAY, particularly at night in the dancing room. People were fighting, gossiping incessantly, and contributing to an extremely negative environment. It was an incredibly awful place to spend a holiday. I urgently request that someone from your team contact me as soon as possible regarding a refund for this experience. It was mentally draining and completely unacceptable. Reply- I Emailed you. Nobody...
Read moreSolo female traveler March 2023 My weather app has said 20 ish all week, but it’s felt more like 30 in the sunshine and I’ve been in a bikini! If it’s windy you’ll feel chilly. Bring a cardi! All in all, this is a great budget option to grab some sunshine. Don’t expect luxury. I’ve enjoyed my 5 day break but I’m glad I didn’t book 2 weeks here. My room (139) was clean. Painted completely white with beautiful deep jade coloured soft furnishings, and dark wood furniture. Huge double bed. The bathroom was mosaic tiled, in shades of brown. Shower is in the bath. No toiletries. No mini bar. No tea/coffee making facilities. Lifts to all floors. Very dated and tired corridors - dull, carpeted in deep red. Excursions offered are very low quality, & poorly managed by the operators - not the hotel’s fault, but buyer beware. They are cheap for a reason. The salesman (Youssef) is very creepy & pushy. I booked a quad bike excursion which was very lame. Pool bar - Bassan works very hard to ensure everyone has whatever they want. He works even better when he’s tipped, so it’s best to tip right from the beginning. Pool - too cold to swim in (March) but it’s immaculate. You’ll need 20 Dinar (£5) cash to secure a pool towel - refunded on departure. They won’t take a card payment for this. Spa facilities - I had a full hammam and full body massage - and wasn’t disappointed. Be prepared for this to be quite an intimate experience! They’re very through! I booked on site, using my debit card and tipped with cash. I advise booking early as it does get booked up. The gym and small indoor pool are inside the spa. It’s all very clean & friendly. None of the products are anything you’d recognise from the UK, but my skin felt and smelt amazing! They provide a robe, sliders and towels. You’ll also get given water and tea. Food is good quality with plenty of choice. Don’t expect snacks between meal times. There is a small shop on site which sells souvenirs. Beach bar is very limited (March) but ‘Jerry Lewis’ is very accommodating and will dash off to the other bars to get whatever you want if he doesn’t have it! The entertainment team are very friendly. They run various activities throughout the day/eve. Sun loungers - plenty of them, pool and beach.Beach is clean. Soft, white sands. The thing that spoilt it (for me) is the pile of ‘stuff’ bunged at the side of the bar. Could do with a smart storage unit being built to hide it all. This is just aesthetics though. The maintenance team are constantly working to keep up with all the little jobs that need doing. There is a bureau de change in the reception area, where you can buy Dinar - they will only accept cash, so it’s worth bringing cash with you. They will not allow a Dinar purchase using a debit or credit card. There are cash points nearby, outside the hotel but they’re surrounded by people harassing you for money! The hotel photographer: he’s quite good to be honest, and much cheaper than you’d get anywhere else! £2.50/10 Dinar per photo. He won’t leave you alone til you’ve agreed to have your photo taken, so you might as well! No pressure to buy them! He sends them to you via WhatsApp and gives you a hard copy. The Sousse area itself is mostly shabby, worn down, lots of rubbish strewn in the streets, lots of derelict buildings, a few brand new-looking buildings / hotels. The areas surrounding the touristy parts are nice. But this is a developing country. The people are poor, and trying to make a living, so tip whatever you can afford. The clientele here at the moment are all quite old - retired and semi-retired. But it’s out of season so it’s to be expected. Plus there’s not much here for younger guests. Everyone is very friendly! Some are here for...
Read moreWe arrived to an extremely warm welcome and was soon made to feel right at home, we were met by Mohammed at the door upon arriving and our bags were taken straight to our room, a room which was exactly as advertised. We go on lots of holidays and I have to say.. this was the cleanest room and was maintained by room service incredibly well, seems silly but we walk bare foot everywhere and our feet were always clean at the end of the day!! The pool was a haven of peace and tranquility with music and laughter, the vibes and energy was exactly what I crave on a holiday with 10/10 service and the friendliest staff that treated us like family catering to everything we could ask for and more. We were all inclusive but that's always limited drinks and alcohol but not here.. staff were so good I really can't explain it in such short words. bassem and ALL the bar staff were fantastic, I cannot recommend this place enough.. value for money was incredible, unheard of in my experiences.. the hotel shop would haggle themselves to the point we had to reverse haggle them and UP the price!! Unheard of!! I WAS SHOOK! I was really hoping to name drop the best 3-4 staff members but honestly they were all absolutely top tier, like a family you've not seen for 10 years. Spa message was the cheapest and yet best I've ever experienced.. I had the hammam in the steam room and my partner had a exfoliating facial. We were treated with nothing but care and love the whole time.. even the other guests were great, probably just because the vibe and energy the staff put out was exactly that, a vibe with great energy. The food, again.. selection was great.. as a fussy English person I could still eat at least 60% of everything set out which was not only alot.. it was fresh, and pasta dishes were cooked to order, pizzas were cooked to order.. fish.. to order.. grill.. it was just a 10/10 experience all around.. the entertainment staff were hilarious and was always something for us to do, we didn't even have to go on an excursion as the hotel really was that entertaining.. we left the resort twice for about 20minutes so hopefully, as I'm ADHD that'll express how funny and entertaining it all was. It was almost opposite land in the sense you usually have to leave the resort to get the cheap prices.. not here, the hotel was cheaper, another reason we just didn't need to leave anywhere.. Pool staff were so on point our lips would never dry, service was impeccable. 5million percent we'll be back.. and Leo with the kitten, "tommy cruise" on the lurke to make you laugh and make sure you're happy and everything is okay, hercules Dan as I'd call him.. just amazing. No pushiness.. no pressure.. just invites and inclusions in everything. Can't thank the staff enough.. with a very big thankyou to the maintenance staff aswell working crazy hard behind the scenes to make sure EVERYTHING worked exactly as it should and the garden were looking top tier.. everything was amazing... Thankyou so much.. we'll be seeing you all again very soon for the beautiful weather and friendships we made. A peice of me definitely stayed there 💚💚💚💚 oh just lastly... Speak to Mohammed in the shop and get yourself a rug.. you will not regret it!! The kindest man with 40 years experience making rugs, his skills are crazy and they're all hand made.. you get a certificate from the government for verification of hand craft and just.. wow.. just wow.. the most respectable and appreciative people. All of them. And if the manager is reading this.. your staff are incredible. KEEP THEM ALL!! DO NOT LET THEM LEAVE!! EVER!! 💚❤️💚❤️💚 Thankyou...
