Returned after 8yrs at roughly same time of year. Our room type (swim-up double near beach) appeared to have had an up-grade & lighting in corridors much better, though still quite muted in room. Good supply & size of toiletries for use in shower. Some things were missing from our previous visit:- ||1. robes - enquired & told not automatically supplied anymore (eco issues) but we were supplied by request.|2. Mugs for morning drink of coffee (just small cups) & only Nescafé sachets supplied besides plenty of teas, coffee mate & various types of sweetening agents. We got mugs & spoons on request. For a 5* they should be supplying coffee machines with choice of pods. We had come prepared with coffee bags & a cappuccino supply. |3. No fruit juices in fridge. Beer (Efes) & fizzy drinks supplied & along with water topped up daily. Why no small bottles/cans of wine (I don’t drink beer - even with lemonade added). |4. No real choices on TV except for news channel/s. Even English speaking films were dubbed into Turkish & no Subtitles for any foreign programmes available. Maybe we weren’t accessing controls properly SO instructions would be useful.|Our room & ground floor area were cleaned properly every day & towels changed as we needed. Thanks Aydin. |Infact everywhere was clean & generally well maintained. ||Now regarding food & drinks & entertainment:- ||•one snack bar open 24/7 ( Lukka) - lots of cakes & biscuits - some bread rolls & wraps. Lukka was also the place for the ‘underground disco’ from 23.00 - ??. We didn’t use so can’t comment.|•other 2 snack bars - the beach & poolside (both open from 10-18.00) Food & service generally good! Hubby would recommend the ‘chef’s burger & me the Lacumun at the Pool bar. A shout out to Dögan (Hawk) for making me feel important as a guest. Things were not as efficient at the Beach bar & although the food (when we finally got served) was generally good we were ignored several times by waiters who served people who arrived after us. Even when we got a menu we were still waiting some time to order. NOTE FOR THOSE who felt that those with BLACK wrist bands got preferential treatment. We had them & were ignored . |Two other bars serving mainly drinks|• pool (which also offered a deliver to your poolside table option - the app needs improvement as e.g. couldn’t specify brands - just ‘rum’, ‘vodka’, beer etc. So it could be pot-luck for me at least as I only like white rum (specifically Bacardi which they ran out of early on - not me!). My options then were Captain Morgan (I hate) & it was usually supplied & another brand which was just about palatable. Hubby was happy with the Efes usually supplied. However to ensure I got my choice we would visit bar for supplies during day. Note also although I could request cola light I’m not sure I always got it even at the bar as it didn’t always taste right even when I just ordered a cola light. |•Lagoon bar similar issues re; drinks option (but nicer surrounding) & only opened at 18.00 ( no delivery to you). ||Regarding the main self-service restaurant food choice was generally good (both hot & cold options) though there are only so many ways you can have chicken in a day similarly for beef & lamb dishes. If you opted for an hot choice ensuring it was hot was hit & miss. (e.g. cold plates or warmers over food not very good) The flow around the choices wasn’t always logical & wasn’t helped by people queuing e.g. behind someone serving themselves when they wanted a choice further on! There were themed evenings e.g. Italian, Turkish & so on but basically the options were available every day. Even the ‘show’ cooked options could be cold by the time you got it on your plate||Of the à la carte’ restaurants we visited the ‘Asian’ our food choices were lovely & hubby complimented chef on his beef dish. Although this was our 2nd choice (the Turkish was booked up) for our anniversary the concierge did book us into the Turkish for the Sunday as a gift for our anniversary. This was lovely of her. However we wish she hadn’t bothered. We were greeted & seated & presented with a meze (which we generally like & it was ok). Then after a wait a man (the sommelier) came with a wine list & we ordered a bottle of Merlot (€35) & were informed that menu would be brought whilst waiting some water was poured & our favourite waitress (from main restaurant) brought a glass of wine (now we had wine + the bottle which arrived later. The waiter then came with the menu & as it was by now 20.45 (we’d arrived at 20.00) & the meze had been filling we ignored the appetisers (though I opted for the liver starter - which when it finally arrived at 21.15 wasn’t what I expected at all - was a good job I quite liked it as we waited till about 21.45 for the mains) I left the table for about 10mins & whilst I was gone hubby was approached & asked would he like the sweet menu & they were apologetic when he said we hadn’t yet had our meals. Apparently the ‘kitchen staff’ had lost our order. There were lots of apologies & we were told we would be served as soon as possible. They did offer some bread & dips whilst we waited BUT by now we were very cold (even though we had dressed appropriately & had a throw). To top it all we were asked to sign for our bottle of wine (which although ok we left most of it) before we actually got our main. I had sea bass which was only ok - rather dry & the sauce wasn’t to my taste. Hubby opted for lamb steak which initially he was impressed with but eventually he hit a lot of fatty gristle. We eventually left at 22.30 (having waited at least 1hr to be served) without bothering with a sweet or leaving a tip. Yes they were busy but people who had arrived after us were served & finished their meals b4 we had even got ours. So much for the black wrist band again! ||Finally the entertainment - this is the biggest change since our last visit - despite double glazing & ensuring patio doors closed we could still hear it. Partly expected from the beach bar as we were quite close & if the acts were good it was bearable. However the noise from the stage by the far pool was almost unbearable. Not sure how those who watched the shows could have enjoyed some of the acts (unless they were drunk or deaf) & I felt sorry for those with rooms around the pool area if they had wanted an early night. Yes we do tend to go to our room by 22.00 at latest (as we rise early) & did read in bed BUT it was so loud & mostly terrible to listen too (I can’t use ear plugs).||Final issue was the lagoon (it had a large fountain when we were last there. No more & besides all the lovely birds, fish & turtles & water plants it now seems to be a breeding ground for mosquito’s! We stopped going to the lagoon bar as we believe that is where we were bitten despite using repellant. The bar & associated seating booths appear to be floating above the lagoon & the water which can be seen under the wooden flooring.||Finally all the staff (even when they appeared to ignore us) are really lovely & friendly but professional & appreciate thanks & greetings in...
Read moreI returned from Jiva Beach Resort (526) on 3 July 2025 after 7 nights in a swim-up room, and while we had a lovely time, and were away to celebrate a achievement and a birthday, a few maintenance and service gaps mean I’d call it a four-star rather than five. ||The swim-up suite (The first time we have ever experienced one) was spacious and its private terrace saved us the morning scramble for loungers when the main pool and beach chairs filled by 10 am, It saved us a number of times, but it could have done with a deeper clean around grout cracks and unseen gunge. The maid will come in everyday if you wish, they have been very friendly and kind. The pool guy did seem to be checking chemical levels etc most days in the pools.||There were a lot of ants in and out of the room, so we were mindful of anything sweet left out etc, the people next door, and next door to them had the same issue, but nothing we couldn't handle, we do expect insects, but maybe not so many and not o my bed ....There is lots of nature like birds nesting, frogs, turtles, fish around, because of the lake in the middle of the venue, we cant always control nature!||In-room, peeling plaster, lose furnishings, a touch of mould in the shower and rock-hard twin beds (which, even pushed together, aggravated my back weakness) kept comfort from feeling luxurious. The TV’s intermittent service had no English channels bar news, which is fine as we are not there for tv, but it is noticed. Air conditioning worked well.||The food was tasty but predictably repetitive, especially desserts and ice creams that sported an odd texture and tasted the same whilst looking wonderfully different, I can only assume its the ingredient added to stop the melting as we often experience this in many Turkish hotels. We often found if we went to the restaurant at 9pm, thinking it was closing at 10pm, there would be less as they weren't overally putting new food out as they'd had "the rush", so we'd have limited or scraps of what's left...so we learned to go earlier.||The Asian à la carte on my birthday, complete with cake was lovely and kind from guest relations, not my Husbands order, although he could of took credit, lol. Decorations, like petals, balloons, sweet treats and a towel animal and bottle of wine, was a real highlight in my room, although unfortunately I don't drink red wine, so gave it back for some one else to enjoy. Drinks were a genuine treat, fresh and properly mixed cocktails instead of syrupy stand-ins, including the coke. Paprika restaurant was great, lots on menu for that mid day snack and shade and the evenings there are a few cocktail bars with lovely lighting and the sound of the frogs in the lake.||What we missed most, though, was information, beyond a QR board by guest services, there was no brochure or menu to tell us about sunset DJs or beach singers, so we only caught the foam party and bands, that our room overlooked and were disappointed to learn we'd missed the DJ etc...this was the same for a few people we spoke too...a lot of us missed things going on. We didn't venture out as it was so hot and we just wanted to chill, but there wasn't anything outside the hotel anyway, More if you went into Fethiye. The beach has a beach bar, but limited sun loungers again, you are lucky to get one but if you do there is a waiter service again which is great. Some people sat on towels, but there is only sand by the loungers, the rest is pebbles and rock, right down to the sea, not greatly attractive or comfy, so bring beach shoes!!||All the staff we encountered were hardworking and warm, even through intense heat, and guest relations went above and beyond for my birthday, but better signage, more loungers, a printed welcome pack, regular deep-cleaning of some terraces and rooms with a bit more taste variety on the dessert table would easily bump Jiva into genuine five-star territory.||Of course, this is my opinion and feeling, and others have different...
Read moreJust returned from 10 nights here June/July 2025. We arrived later in the evening around 11.30pm. We were greeted at reception by very friendly staff who then took our bags to our room for us and sorted extra bedding for my toddlers bed which was appreciated. ||I'll start with the positives!||Staff are incredible. Almost every interaction with staff was positive and made you feel like you were important. From reception to the entertainment to all the hard working restaurant workers and bar staff. 5* across the board. ||Food is really good, in the buffet restaurant there is always the same 90% of choices which could get a little repetitive but the other 10% was varied each time and the varied option was always really good, our favourite was the kebab night. ||Another mention on the staff was how they all made an effort with my 3 year old, they all learned her name, spoke to her when they saw her and I could tell my daughter enjoyed it and we appreciated it a lot. ||The beach bar is amazing and the entertainment each evening there is really impressive, the saxophonist is a real highlight. On busy evenings it can start to feel over run and most of the servers will work hard to ensure smooth service, one evening we had a server who was idling round and it was frustrating having our section of the bar served much slower then the others. ||WWe were lucky enough yo try all 3 al a carte restaurants and the food is a real step up from the buffet. The Asian restaurant was our favourite, however our table and a table next to us were waiting nearly 45 minutes for desert as we'd been forgotten, the server was apologetic but I feel it was worth mentioning. We enjoyed the paprika restaurant on our anniversary and they had decorated the table especially and brought out a lovely anniversary cake for us. |On top of the table for our anniversary they also brought up a bottle of wine and a platter of treats to the room, very kind. ||On the sun loungers on the beach there are QR codes to have drinks brought over, an amazing feature and all the staff were amazing. ||The coffee cart was a favourite of my partners, we only wish it was open earlier, could definitly upgrade to a more permanent fixture with more then 1 barrista as at times the que could be quite large. ||Now onto the minor negetives||Night 1 our toddler enjoyed the mini disco, then night 2 we realised it was the exact same 30 minute set, same songs same dances ect. By night 3 even my toddlers was bored of it. This was so poor from a 5* having had much much better from worse hotels. Although the day activities for the mini club were much better.||The day entertainment was good however again it was the same activities every day, no variety apart from the pool party which was really good. ||The soundproofing is almost non existent, i feel sorry for the rooms near the pool stage as we were near reception and could hear the music as if we were stood next to a speaker. This isn't an issue if you're watching it but at the mini disco doesnt start till 9pm and the entertainment between 9.30 and 9.45pm it can go on late into the evening. ||Cali beach is a short walk away for shops ect however with a pram it isn't a very walkable area at all, the roads near the hotel are unpaved. ||The Mini golf area is TERRIBLE. I cant belive it is still at the hotel. It should be ripped up and replaced. The 'greens' are made out of astro thats all over the place and lumpy. The golf clubs are all battered and its an eye sore. ||We only had 2 towel animals all stay which is no issue but some reviews seem to state they got one everyday and this wasn't our experiance. ||My last small gripe was that the ice cream selection if a bit rubbish, it has an odd texture and only have 4 scoops (vanilla, strawberry, chocolate and lemon). No choice of lollies ect seems strange for a hotel of this calibre. ||Although after all that the hotel is incredible and the staff are a...
