Me and my family arrived at the Lagoon Hotel in the early hours of the morning and were greeted by the staff who helped check us into our rooms. However the room my sister in laws were given was in the basement part of the complex (with no outside space and seemed a little strange for a summer holiday hotel and not as advertised online). Despite this, the staff were helpful and arranged for their room to be changed the day after with ease. ||The room me and my husband were in was clean, had fresh bedding and towels when asked for, a good working shower and a balcony with a pool view. We were really happy with our room, however the only disappointment was being told that to have aircon cost £60 a week, the fridge £35 a week, and for a safe was £20 a week. We wanted to try with the aircon for one week to see how it was, however was told we had to buy the full 2 weeks for our stay. We agreed to pay and tried to use our travel money card (which had money loaded onto it so that we wouldn’t be charged on any of our spends), however were told that they only take cash as they get charged for using them and that they haven’t worked for previous guests. After a bit of back and forth, we ended up paying with the cash that we had, but this seemed to be a theme throughout the holiday. Eventually when the staff realised that we wouldn’t be constantly drawing out money (and being charged to do so), they allowed us to keep a tab open which we paid via our travel card every few days.||We opted for the bed and breakfast option, but the breakfast was disappointing with limited options. Some of us either didn’t eat in the morning, or would go to the local restaurants to eat instead. Despite this, the options on the menu for dinner and tea throughout the day was really tasty and about average prices you’d pay in the UK. The cocktails were also really nice which we had a lot of.||On our first day of the holiday, the staff were really accommodating for the rest of our family staying at a sister hotel to come and visit. There were 22 of us in total and we were buying drinks and food all day. We were all also offered a VIP pool day at the sister hotel free of charge which was really lovely. The pool at Lagoon was really nice with lots of sunbeds always available.||However after we slowed down on spending money at the hotel, some of the staff weren’t as accommodating to some family members. There was one young lad in particular who found out my sister in law’s name and kept calling her in a creepy voice (she’s 15) and made her feel uncomfortable. She also heard him arguing with another female guest in the room down from hers which made her feel awkward as he seemed to always be lurking around.||On the day before we were due to check out, we had asked if there was a courtesy room for all 8 of us to shower and change. Check out was 12pm and our Tui pickup wasn’t until 9pm. They advised that to have a room until 4pm it would cost us £60 (which we all didn’t want to pay for with still 5 hours to spare). We asked on the day if they had just a shower room which the manager advised he wouldn’t be able to let us know until 4pm. We stayed around the pool and asked again at 4pm, however at this point my husband’s Nan sliced her shin on one of the sunbeds. She went up to the bar with my husband to ask for some tissues which one of the female staff members gagged at and walked away. The other female staff member was really helpful however, and cleaned up the blood and bandaged her shin. At this point, the staff reluctantly offered us the shower room. ||The shower room was in the basement part of the complex and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for weeks with grime and dirt all over- we could see why they didn’t want to offer the room as it didn’t reflect the cleanliness of the rest of the hotel. We had to leave our suitcases in the reception with no room to keep them safe. This was a disappointing end to our stay at the hotel as we loved the hotel in general, it was just a few of the managerial staff members who made us feel we needed to leave...

Checked in at reception by Selin Ergün (the owner's daughter), This hotel is 100% family-run and controlled.
Immediately after checking in Selin offered an upgrade to Air Con, Fridge and Safety Deposit at additional charge but cash only.
Air Con for a week was £40. A Fridge is £35 and Safety Deposit Box £30 respectively.
We paid in cash GBP as TRY wasn't available (even though in Turkey?). But Selin had no change available, advised to ask at the Bar later in the day (i'll get back to that).
Room was clean, neat but bathroom quite dirty, mould in the shower, and lacking hot water during the day.
We were in room 408 (dates 02/AUG - 09/AUG). Top floor with a balcony. No fault of the hotel the neighbouring guests returning to the rooms in the early hours always seemed to have a disagreement and argue for 30 minutes or so before settling down.
THE POOL: The Pool is very reasonable in size and suitable, max depth of 1.40 meters, was clean and suitable.
SUN LOUNGERS: Plenty to go around, but you do get the odd "Clan" and "Feral" families hoarding them all day.
THE BAR: The bar seems to be the "control area". All the staff sit to the right of the bar area (never any staff in reception). The staff at the bar are family members (as mentioned a family-run venue). Staff will try their hardest to get you to spend as much as you can on ordering drinks, meals etc.. Everything the hotel do is "booked via the bar" reception is full of tumble weed, no one other than the bird in the cage. Even the two dogs are in the bar. The hotel "employs" two Chow Chow's to chase any street cats (or dogs) who try to venture onsite). Three times in a 7 day period I witnessed the dogs attacking 1 x street stray dog and 2 x street cats who ventured in to the bar area. Staff (family) appeared proud and congratulated the Chow Chow's (dogs).
If you do not order food or drink at the bar, the staff will make you aware they've noticed that you're not eating/drinking on-site and attempt to make you feel uncomfortable (tell them to wind the necks in).
After several years of visiting Türkiye, but the first time staying at this venue, I can 100% state I will NEVER stay here again. Absolutely abysmal, awful place. You're only welcome here if you spend money and never go out to eat or drink. I've spoke with several guests and stated the same, but continue to visit due to the cheapness.
The family-run venue will be your best of friends if you never leave and only eat and drink. But soon as you venture outside you'll be an outcast and will be ignored. Sadly so many people fall for this and do actually never leave and don't explore the local area and understand this to be how local hospitality is.
Such an awful clique of a place.
Would I rebook: 100% NOT - As I said, stayed in the area many times over 10+ years. And this is the worst ever. Even though it was clean, great pool. But the staff are untrustworthy.
By the way still owe me £5 (let them...
Read moreAfter reading some of the previous reviews, I was honestly quite hesitant about staying here. Many mentioned unfriendly staff, guests being treated differently depending on how much they spent, and even an aggressive dog! However, our experience was quite different, and I think those reviews painted an unfair picture.|We’re not big spenders, but we still found the staff to be friendly and approachable. They weren’t overly chatty or pushy, which we actually appreciated. We never felt any pressure to spend money, and everyone was polite throughout our stay.|Some reviews warned about items being added to bills, but we had no such issues. We made a point of paying off our bill every few days just to keep on top of it, and everything was always accurate.|The dog mentioned in other reviews was absolutely fine. The owner did let us know that he likes to sniff people first before being stroked — which seems totally reasonable. As long as you approach him properly, he’s no problem at all.|The pool area was lovely with plenty of sunbeds, most of which got sun throughout the day. The sunbeds themselves weren’t the comfiest, but there were some cushions available. You did need to get up around 8am to grab one though, as they were limited. A nice touch was the pile of lilos and leftover sun creams and toiletries from previous guests — great if you forget anything or just want a float!|WiFi by the pool was excellent, but in the room it was pretty weak unless you were out on the balcony. The beds weren’t the most comfortable either, though we did get used to them after a few nights.|One frustrating aspect was the single room key. It made things a bit awkward when one of us wanted to stay in and the others wanted to go out — we either had to wake someone up to get back in or leave them without electricity/aircon. Fortunately, the TV still worked without the key in the slot.|Housekeeping was minimal — our cups weren’t changed once during our stay despite being used on the first day, and towels were sometimes just refolded rather than replaced. Also, the safes were located downstairs in reception, which felt inconvenient and meant we didn’t end up using them. We opted to keep valuables locked in our suitcase instead.|All in all, I’d say ignore the really harsh reviews. We paid £750 each for 2 weeks, including flights, so we weren’t expecting a 5-star resort. For what we paid, the hotel offered good value, and we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We...
