We are British and our visit today began on a high but ended up on a big low. We ordered dishes that were not expected due to lack of preparedness, poor understanding and lack of clarification during discussions. The soups and seseme topped pitta bread were very enjoyable but we didn't order seseme seeds that can be lethel if allergic to them - any inference we don't know. The menu has some great photos of food but they do not align with the menu. Pointing to an omelette should have provoked more clarification if conversation turned to pancake section! I was craving an omelette, pointed to photo and said I wanted that. My fault because I later pointed to pancake section in the mix-up to a question about mince or mixed - disaster. My partner thought turkish beef raviolli sounded nice (no photo so a trip into the unknown) . Ended up with something unlike anything we'd seen before. Contrary to the menu write-up, there was no beef whatsoever, no rice and no salad! My mixed pancake with potatoe and herbs was also meant to have chedder but instead came with feta cheese. In summary, it appeared we were being offered dishes that deliberatly failed to meet our expectations. Read all negative reviews and you will generally find these are from shared nationalities that are not turkish! You are made welcome but will you get satisfaction? My advice; unless you are familiar with these dishes, just stick to soup and pitta bread which we found very enjoyable. Main dishes were a huge disappointment with no minced beef, no raviolli pasta (as we know it) no tomatoe sauce and no omelette but a pancake with feta cheese. More...
Read moreWe ate here tonight and it was great! A very informal cafe/restaurant style with very good prices. There were about 8 dishes to choose from, aubergines 2 ways, green beans, chick peas, stuffed peppers, rice and bulgur wheat, manti (though they used pasta spirals not the traditional manti and another yoghurt based dish, chicken with potatoes and carrots in the bain Marie section. Then several different types of kebab including Adana, chicken, and lamb, which all come plated with rice, chips, bread and salad and grilled tomato, pepper and onion. Other people had soup at least two different kinds, there was also gozleme and pide on the go. Desserts were also available, but we were full, as we really ordered too much, but we will learn for next time! We also tried Ayran and finished with Turkish tea. Will do this much more when we are back in...
Read moreEat where the Turkish people eat and so we did!!! We read the negative reviews but we didn't have any issues. There was good customer service. The food was exactly what we wanted which was the real turkish food and not the type made for tourist. Portions are bigger then the tourist restaurants and we did over order as we wanted to try a bit of everything but it was all yummy as a takeaway for lunch the next day. Its a busy family run restaurant with constant turnovers of tables but we wasn't rushed, the establishment was clean(didn't need to use the bathroom as there was a wash basin). The food was delicious: savoury pancake, lamachun, grilled meats, ravioli, knafeh and turkish tea. Price wise, this was our cheapest meal all holiday but we had double the amount of food we did compared to all that we've tried so far! This place is definitely...
