G’day folks,
I’m absolutely ropeable after staying three nights at this so-called “hotel” – it’s an utter shambles and a blight on the hospitality industry. If you’re considering booking here, do yourself a favour and steer clear. This place is a nightmare, and I’m not mucking about when I say it’s the worst hotel I’ve come across in 20 years of travel. Let’s start with the basics: you won’t get a wink of decent sleep. The noise is relentless – constant rackets from early morning bus tours and god-knows-what else. I was lucky to scrape four hours of shut-eye each night, thanks to the 4am wake-ups from clanging and banging around the joint. It’s clearly set up to churn through one-night bus tour groups, not for anyone looking for a proper stay. The facilities? An absolute joke. The shower was blocked up, leaving you standing in a pool of grimy water – it’s bloody disgusting. The service? Even worse. The staff treat tourists like garbage, with zero respect or care. The lobby manager had the gall to raise their voice at me when I raised legitimate concerns – next thing you know, they’re calling security like I’m some sort of crim! Threats and intimidation instead of basic hospitality? You’ve got to be kidding me. The hotel manager is an arrogant piece of work who wouldn’t even front up to address my issues – just hid away like a coward. This mob has no clue about humble, kind service. It’s a disgrace to the industry, and the manager is an outright embarrassment to the profession. I’m a fair dinkum Aussie guest who expects a bit of decency, and this place delivered nothing but disappointment and aggro. Save your hard-earned cash and book somewhere else – anywhere else. This hotel is a rip-off and a bloody insult to travellers. Stay away, unless you fancy being treated like dirt and losing sleep for your troubles. Cheers (but not to this dump), A seriously fed-up...
Read moreThere are many things that this hotel gets right: the decor is outstanding (elegant without beign over-the-top), the front desk staff are helpful, the food is outstanding (and restauarant staff super-friendly) and the location is quiet. It also offers good value for money, at least if you're visiting out-of-season.
Having stayed at other hotels in Karahayit village in the past, however, this relatively new place doesn't get everything right. The main area for improvement is, ironically, the thermal facilities - which is one of the main reasons for coming to stay here in the first place. The indoor 'jacuzzi pool' is a small indoor pool (the outdoor swimming pool was closed during our visit in mid-winter) and the noise level from playful children travels to all the rooms built around it.
The actual thermal pools are spacious, but built in an off warehouse/aircraft hanger type of building. There is little fresh air ventilation, and limited sitting areas within the pools. Compared to nearby hotels that we've stayed at in the past, these pools are decidedly less inviting and certainly not as well planned - it's almost as if they were an after-thought. Moreover, the staff in the spa/pool area were, without exception, unfriendly, quick to snap at guests, spent most of their time outside the main door smoking, and certainly nowhere near the standard of a 5-star hotel. The sauna and steam room looked pleasant enough, but were closed at the time of our visit due to pandemic restrictions, but the hamam was open - and was...

I counted 12 tour buses on the night we stayed there and suveral smaller private tour minivans. (We were indpendent travellers.).||Food is average at best. Reasonably, how can you provide excellect buffet for hundreds of people? Maybe take a page from cruise companies and Las Vegas casinos and start with better quality ingredients and preparation.||Because of size and number of people in dining room and - really - every where in the hotel - it was not a welcoming and relaxing place to be. And the food is an issue because the rates at the hotel include breakfast and dinner. ||Funny thing, when we went to dinner, the gentleman who greeted us in the cavernous dinnig room that had the noise and ambiance of a football stadium, could not understand that we were 2 independent traveller that did not come with a tour. He kept looking for our names in the tour listings so he could seat us with our group. Finally he relkented and pointed to a few 2 top tables that were available for independent travellers. And undersatndably no soft drinks or alcoholic beverages were included with dinner. But no tea or coffee, seriously?||As independent travellers I think we would have better off in one of the smaller hotels nearby without tour buses and better meals at one of the local...
