We arrived after 24 hours of travelling from the UK in the middle of the night but the booking had been messed up so we had no room, we were shown two rooms that were awful, large but with horrid stained carpets and terrible bathrooms. Eventually we accepted a better but extremely basic room with a tiled floor which at least felt cleaner.||||After some sleep we realised it wasn't so bad, the room was huge with a lovely big balcony but everything felt tired and the bathroom smelt musky and was very outdated.||||Breakfast was eggs, cereals, juices, hot drinks, toast, fruit and a different selection of hot foods each day, some weren't breakfast food (goat, vegetables and noodles) but this was Uganda not the UK so I tried most things and found some more palatable than others, some were enjoyable too.||||The rest of the hotel was tired looking too but everyone we met was lovely and we loved our daily chats with housekeeping reception staff, security and waiters. The pool was nice and the grounds were lovely, the food and drinks were nice and good value.||||The hotel can be very loud as there are often weddings and other functions including the local Rotary Club which meets twice a week, there were also visits from chief judges and even royalty while we were there which meant an entourage of security and lots of noise. Our room was right under the dining hall so earplugs came in handy, the Ugandans certainly know how to party!||||The location on Tank Hill Road is very good with lovely views and lots of nice local eateries, we enjoyed meals at Cafe Roma and Kampala Forest and a little Dutch cafe (whose name escapes me), it is also walking distance to two supermarkets (one an Italian supermarket), a bank with ATM machine and a Forex.||||I gave the hotel 3 stars which I think is fair - the hotel alone wouldn't have got 3 stars as it clearly needs work (and some parts even look dangerous like the wiring by the bar, see photo) the people and location are lovely, it just needs a...
Read moreI am a regular at the gym, which is of sub-standard quality but workable. I have slept thrice in different rooms of the hotel to be confident enough to say the hotel needs to either be renovated soon or shut down as there is no value for money at all.||||The rooms are old, poor ventilated. In my last visit my friend and i asked for an extra towel as we were sharing a double,a remote control and a fan as the room 509 was poor ventilated it was only delivered after i raised my voice at the very rude, sluggish men at the reception. They displayed zero motivation and interest in listening to my concerns till i asked for my money back and threatened to leave-that is when they came running to the room with all we had asked for.||||Room 509 has an extra bed with a very old, dirty , ugly looking mattress that would be acceptable for a 1 star hotel or back packers lodge but not a hotel like this one.||||The shower in the bathroom is pathetic, the water pressure is very low, there is no hot water, the lower part of the toilet has a gross looking brown color that could easily be mistook for a massive poo stain.||||I have always paid 250,000 for these executive rooms, was stunned when the lady at the reception said if i had 200,000 she would still give it to me. Why the sudden discount?||||The food is amazing, the staff serving the meals always seem confused, sluggish, a bit rude.||||After experiencing the above stated thrice, i can confidently say that this hotel either does a complete renovation, training of staff, shut down or lower it's prices. I would pay USD 10-20 for these services and wouldn't even complain. But for USD 50 and above i'm gonna...
Read moreI have been in this hotel for business and training for a number of times over the last 8 years. The hotel is beautifully located, very nice garden, but run down. Some staff are very friendly and provide great service, others staff lack any feeling for service. When moving in my room, I had to go looking for staff to provide for towels and remote control TV. TV reception awful, only a few weak channels. First 2.5 days no hot water and low pressure, when complaining on the first and second day,it was said to be repaired immediately. I've had several times that the room key was not at the reception, but kept by cleaning staff all through the day, that you have to go looking for yourself. Two times I had to get a spare key from the manager. My suitcase, locked by code, had been searched through on the last day, and two pairs of glasses stolen. The hotel management denied any...
