I stayed at Copthorne hotel Sharjah for 5 weeks on a business trip. Apart from the fact that this is not a business hotel, which falls on my employer to know, let’s start positive: The best thing in this hotel during my stay was the staff; namely Khaled, Rana and Nachom and Jackline. These people particularly Khaled and Rana were problem solvers, on top of things and would do everything to accommodate to what a guest would need. Having said that, the main problem in this hotel lies in poor maintenance and up keeping and a lot of wear and tear in the rooms. My room was on the 11th floor with a beautiful lake view, yet , water form the shower was like warm at all times with very low pressure that sometimes the shower head would not work. The door knob fell off and when they sent the handyman, he glued the same broken knob back and asked me nicely to use my elbow to push the door open after using the key to avoid having the knob falling off again. The fridge shelf was broken too and I could feel the springs of the mattress prickling my back but here comes the amazing staff who tried to accommodate by placing another mattress topper and folding it into two so that I don’t feel pain from the springs of the so worn out mattress. On that floor you would smell cigarette almost at all times even though it was a non smoking floor. Breakfast was open buffet but the food station area was so tiny, quality and quantity of food were mostly inadequate, and once food item runs out they don’t refill unless you specifically ask the maitre d’hotel for it. I strongly urge the owners and decision makers of this hotel to renovate the hotel furniture and beddings and towels as fit a 4 star hotel in high currently they are sure not. Once again, a hearty thank you to the amazing team: Khalid Rana Nachom and Jacqueline, it would have been so difficult almost impossible to stay at your hotel for that long interval of time if you...
Read moreI have stayed here many times and now this Hotel needs serious renovation and needs to learn to put customers first. I'v he'd better service in 2 & 3 Star hotels. Shower/bathroom facilities are gone so old, since its winter and if you put the hot water on, the water trickles. you can't even have a decent quick shower. Breakfast. well if you go 1 hour before closing, boulle be lucky to get a decent omelette made as all the veggies are finished and don't get replenished, half hour before closing, you can't even get a croissant, its all packed and probably put in the fridge for next day. They very brittle which means that its not fresh and defo refrigerated. My room wasn't cleaned twice in 9 days I stayed, even though I had the "make-up-my-room" on and also told the cleaning staff who were in a close by room that my room is ready to be cleaned, we returned late at night only to find the room as we left it. called Reception only to be told "sorry" we will speak to the house keeping. Sorry once is ok, but to have the same issue twice is not acceptable. Also my big lamp in the room wasn't working, I did speak to reception the first day and nothing was done, only on the last night when we needed light to pack, I called agin. maintenance came and instead of changing the bulb, he brought a replacement which was soooo wobbly that I had to lean it against a wall. Its absolutely shameful that the Copthorne would provide such bad facilities and service. Don't think will be staying here in a long time, I have told the travel agency about it and also have pictures to prove all this but I'm not going to post just yet, waiting to see what reply I get to this. Will be putting this on Google and Trip Advisor reviews soon and may put 1 pic to show the quality...
Read moreI had one of the worst hotel experiences here. I booked the hotel for two days and specifically requested a smoking room, but I was given a non-smoking room instead. The male receptionist at check-in was very unpleasant, which gave me a bad first impression.
The room I was given (Room 809) had several issues. The doorbell and notification system didn’t work, so I couldn’t request housekeeping properly. The room itself was old and poorly maintained. I had to call three times just to get a dental kit, and the lady who answered the phone kept transferring my call to reception without listening to me. It felt like she was ignoring my calls on purpose.
The bathtub was damaged and the drain stopper didn’t work. A maintenance guy came to check but never returned. I requested a room change on the first day, and the receptionist (Ahmed) said they’d try the next day since the hotel was fully booked. However, the next day I had to keep calling and again, no one helped. I finally had to go down to reception, where a staff member named Sara promised to get back to me, but I never heard from her.
The room had a bad smell, was dusty, and had old furniture. Overall, the customer service, especially at the reception, was terrible. It felt like the staff didn’t care at all.
The only positive thing I can mention is the restaurant staff. They were friendly and provided good service, and the food was okay.
Unfortunately, I will not return to this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone. I hope the management seriously looks into improving service and removes the lady who answers the phone, as she clearly has no interest in...
