What can I say about Rose Cottage?! What a fantastic ten days we've had in Cemaes Bay. This cottage is absolutely beautiful- I've never stayed anywhere so well appointed. Gillian goes above and beyond to provide everything you need and more, and the home was absolutely immaculate. It was truly a home from home. We didn't light the coal fire as not needed but there was ample coal and logs etc. which often isn't provided. Lots of cosy blankets, the most amazingly comfy bed I've ever slept in ...and the conservatory is blissful if it's a rainy day and you want to cosy up with a book and watch the birds in the stunning garden. I loved dipping in to the books provided and looking at all the natural trinkets! I met Gillian and her lovely friend by chance while watching at a Heron in the woodland by the cottage and they were so welcoming and informative, giving me all kinds of tips on what to do on the island. She couldn't be more helpful and welcoming. Little touches like the lovely welcome treats of wine, welsh cakes, barra brieth cake and a handwritten note made the stay special from the start. We had absolutely no issues or niggles at all, everything worked perfectly and we didn't want to come home! Gillians friend told me about collecting sea glass on the beach which has turned in to a new hobby for me. So relaxing. Look no further if you want to stay in a friendly, beautiful location and have a truly relaxing stay! Both cafes in the village are fab, and the pub was full of welcoming locals. If you're new to Anglesey you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend Newborough Forest, Moelfre, Church Bay and South Stack nature reserve.....but you'll make it your own. It's not just the stay itself but it what you take away from a holiday that matters ....in my case, I know more about sea glass, foraging, hidden areas and lovely community spirit! Will definitely be...
Read moreWe spent a lovely week in Rose Cottage, it was truly special.
We are regular visitors to Anglesey, at least once a year since forever, and we were over the moon to discover this absolute treasure via Facebook marketplace. Weâve used various holiday companies and without a doubt Gillâs warm manner and friendly attentive service far exceeds them all - from start to finish Gill made the experience so effortless, nothing was ever to much.
Rose Cottage itself was absolutely stunning, a true home from home where everything had been thought of. The decoration was beautiful, access to things like camping chairs and a portable BBQ meant we didnât over pack and the garden, games and craft provisions were certainly appreciated.
The cottages location was AMAZING, a few minutes walk to the beach for excellent paddleboarding, swimming and of course crabbing - one of our favourite family holiday activities.
Highly recommended grabbing a beach pizza and enjoying the epic sunsets over the bay! We spent at least four evenings either taking in the views, walking the coastal path or paddleboarding when the beach was deserted. We also enjoyed a very wet day wander at Cemlyn, Seal and Turn spotting. Family foodie tips we enjoyed beach pizzas - they deserve a second mention, chips and drinks at Gwesty Gadlys, The Sea Shanty abd The Oyster Catcher but the milk vending machine for milkshakes was the best by far, it made our daughters day!
Seriously cannot recommend Rose Cottage (& Gill) highly enough - I donât want to shout to loudly though as I fear weâll never get booked in again.
A special shout out to the neighbours to, they were lovely. Some locals get annoyed by tourists but we were welcomed with open arms and friendly...
Read moreWe stayed at Rose Cottage in August and it was definitely a home from home. Everything had been catered for. There was a lovely hamper waiting for us on arrival. The cottage was so cosy and very clean. There was a folder on the table telling us everything we needed to know about the cottage and Cemaes Bay. This included restaurants, cafes, benches, walks, pubs. It went into great detail and was extremely helpful. The cottage has the most amazing garden with lots of hidden treasures to find and the most amazing apple trees , perfect for making apple crumble. Sitting in the garden with a brew, first thing in the morning, listening to the birds was the perfect way to start the day. We had our son with us who is 5 years old, there were lots of art and craft boxes for children to explore, colouring books, pens, glue, shells. Bats and balls and crab lines and buckets for catching the crabs at the beach. The three bedrooms are beautifully decorated and make for a very restful sleep. The cottage is literally 5 mins walk to the beach. The high street had everything you need, including the most amazing fish and chip shop. And the pasties from the butchers were delicious. We wanted a nice relaxing week away and that is exactly what we got. We spent the days on the beach, had meals out at the pubs and went back to the cottage to relax. It really did feel like home. We will definitely be going back to rose cottage. I also recommend anyone to stay here. You won't be disappointed. Thank you Gill and Robb. The cottage is beautiful and you are the best hosts around. You really have thought of everything to make guests feel at home. We will be back soon Love Sally, Carl...
