We booked into Briarfields Touring Park on a fully serviced pitch as part of our two week motorhome round trip from S.Wales to N.Wales, across Snowdonia and Bala, on into Shropshire, down to Cheltenham, then through Forest of Dean and back home to S.Wales. Our preferred site was fully booked for the dates we wanted which we were disappointed about but we were not disappointed with Briarfields! Its a real gem of a find and we are so pleased we stayed there. It wasnt our preferred site but its most certainly high on our favourite list now. We stayed from 26th to 30th August (sorry this review is a bit late) and to be honest another day or two there wouldnt have gone amiss. The pitches are level, with a wonderful countryside feel to it despite being so close to main roads. There is a superb dog walking area onsite (a little bit uneven so tread carefully) with plenty of space, a secure gate and perfectly positioned poo bin on the way out. It does sadden me on times why owners think its OK to leave their dogs mess in the field despite being given such a wonderful facility. "Forgetting your poo bag" is not an excuse to leave it there !! The shower and toilet blocks are spotlessly clean, a real credit to the staff, and the other amenities are also first class. There is so much to do from here with a bus service that goes to Cheltenham one way and Gloucester the other. There is Harvester pub and KFC within easy walking distance (less than 10 minutes) and a safe underpass to get to it. Some local takeaways will also deliver to the site (just meet them at the gate) ... they will ring you when a few minutes away. One last thing, Staverton Airport is close by and there is a wonderful pub called The Aviator where they serve really good pub grub and if the weathers fine you can sit outside and watch the comings and goings of the many helicopters and light aircraft. There's a safe walk along a couple of fields via public footpath to get to it and a couple of styles/kissing gates to get through and it takes about 20 minutes. The staff would be more than happy to show you the route on one of their printed leaflets. All in all its a really great site and we will DEFINATELY be returning next season for another stay. Highly...
Read moreFound this site here on pitch up we originally booked for one night as a stopover on our way home to Yorkshire which was extended to two.The staff on reception are very polite, helpful and friendly we were allocated our pitch and given a site map which was marked out where our pitch was. The pitch was hard standing with gravel and grass very spacious with hedges either side giving it a degree of privacy, also it was very level I only had to adjust the jockey wheel to get it spot on. We were pitched very close to the toilet and shower block which was a bonus, the toilet block is very modern and some of the nicest and cleanest I've seen on a touring site. The showers are push button type and can be a bit tricky getting the temperature you want but once you've mastered that they're spot on. Initially I was concerned that there wouldn't be enough to service the whole site, the site was almost at capacity for the whole of our stay and I never had to qué once. All the other facilities are situated around the toilet block elsan, grey waste and fresh water waste are all next to the recycling waste and very tidy. To the rear of the block is a laundry room we never used that but it looks well equipped. The other side of the block is the pot washing station with large deep sinks and plenty of hot water. Overall the site is kept well manicured and clean we loved it so much our two night stay turned into a four night stay and we will definitely be returning in the future. A couple of things to note the site is in close proximity to the A40 and under the flight path of Gloucester airport so in daylight hours there is some noise but during the night this is greatly reduced and never bother us at all. Also if you're following your satnav it will tell you you have reached your destination while your on the A40 when you clearly haven't, study your maps and street view and you...
Read moreLiked: We stayed for 9 nights for out wedding anniversary and husbands birthday . First impressions were , nice easy access off a 'B' road , great, staff all friendly , lovely manicured gardens, very clean amenities .and it's telling that the place is very well looked after . Our pitch , was perfectly situated , amenities block , close to bins and dog area. We chose fully serviced and we were not disappointed. As regards to the others saying about traffic and aircraft noise . If you like dead silence then read the reviews and choose accordingly, but honestly , I think people just like to moan . Yes you can hear the road but it's more of a hum with an occasional siren . And who doesn't like to see the airplanes .. I love watching them . Situation of the site was perfect for us . We visited the cotswolds highlights (stow on the wolds etc ) Cheltenham wow the architecture! , Cotswolds wildlife park , great and dog friendly , forest of Dean , Cirencester and Diddly Squat. Just up the road , supermarkets , Aldi , Asda and a bit further away Morrisons . Home bargains and Pets at home . Then pubs close by and KFC. The aviator cafe does lovely breakfast and your right next to the runway .. Honestly a fabulous location. Our friends stayed for a couple of nights in the motel and said if was very nice too .
Disliked: This place would be absolutely perfect if there was a dog enclosure. The walks nearby are ok but to have even a small run on site would...
