Like other reviews said this lodge is a little rowdy if you are not used to it, not so much the traffic noises as we were placed at the back with a lovely view of KFC also helps to be high up as possible. It’s the residents who are noisy, quite a wide range of guests young and old. A few loudly talking in car park they don’t care they have just been to the harvester and had a few by the sounds of it ! it’s kind of a public car park too as you can park up for the KFC or Harvester. £7.95 for 24 hrs best to pay thus and register at reception too to avoid a parking fine. The general feel at the lodge wasn’t relaxed you kind of get the feeling people use it as a stop over just off the m5 as it’s so handy if you’ve had a long and tiring journey and you just need a bed for the night. Ok so the choice of food isn’t great here if you want healthy cheaper alternatives avoid and just pop to town first. There is a big Asda ten minutes walk away you can grab cold food here. Kept window open all the time as room not air conditioned so you get a fan and that’s it the child locks on the windows mean it won’t open a great deal. Residents on other floors seemed respectable a few brought their dogs so careful if you have an allergy. The room itself was clean we booked late so maybe they forgot to empty the bins as there was a take away container in there. There was a loud gurgling noise in the walls till about midnight i think it was the pipes they must of had air trapped in them. Only 1 extra pillow there’s normally 2 extra, again not a problem sure we could have asked for another. Reception was busy and guy had a lot of demanding customers but kept his cool and dealt with everyone politely. Slept fairly ok in the end beds comfortable I have the travelodge mattress at home too. Good budget price for...
Read moreThis is a basic hotel, really basic, on a more positive note it was clean. My bathroom was clean, fresh bedding, mark and dust free carpet, non sticky desk and an empty bin. No dressing gowns as pictured in some of its leaflets. Some minor faults with the room itself, like a buzzing side light and screws in the wall where a picture used to be. A very small tea and coffee selection in the room. Two major faults in my opinion. First there was no sound proofing, so light sleepers should avoid this hotel. Second was the television service.
The television has no on channel name display, i.e. it does not tell you what channel your watching. There is no on screen TV guide either. So all in all it makes it hard to know what channel your watching or what is on. Then to make it worse the channels are in a random order and the only way to change channel is to go up a channel or down a channel, one channel at a time; unless you want to just type random channel numbers into the remote to see what comes up.
Hotel itself is basic, had one broken lift and doesn't really feel homely or modern or anything really. Ain't even some indoor plant life or art work, just the odd advertisement.
There is no free parking for overnight guests, no full english breakfast and no free breakfast.
The staff were as helpful as they could be, and they smiled. I would not smile if I worked here, some I would say the service from the staff is good.
A quick note on the internet, they have WiFi but it is not free, far from it. The cheapest option is not to pay high hotel rates but to sign up for Boingo, as the hotel service will allow Boingo members to use the Wifi, and...
Read moreTerrible experience. The road outside was noisy the lobby and corridor was outrageously loud and deafening. All you can hear from 4pm until 1am is people slamming doors, banging bedpostz and head boards, screeching car whee lsand the lovely noise from rowdy drunk people accessing their rooms very verbally at gone 4am. The bathroom was so small we couldn't even fit without squeezing the toilet door to the side. It was quite mouldy and filthy on the bottom of the shower cubicle we had stains on our bed sheets and found used condoms on the floor which was hidden behind the back of the radiator . It was incredibly hot in the room as some idiot from before blasted the heating up in may who does that!! There isn't the option of breakfast or dinner like other travelodges which was severely disappointing. We had to open all the windows which was thankfully not stuck on any hinges to get fresh air. The carpets hadn't been cleaned properly it was stained very bad. We had the stench of alcohol coming through our door from the corridor where others acting irresponsible with drinking. It smelled very damp. The bed was uncomfortable and looked as if the headboard needed a change as it was lopsided. The only decent thing I suppose some might say is it has kfc and another restaurant nearby which is handy but gets busy and doesn't often serve what you ask for. The only good thing was having a handy grocery store asda nearby that you could go to get some food! As someone with intolerance these nearby restaurants did not cater for My needs at all. I had to land up buying snacks from Asda and getting a pizza from town. Avoid thiz place...
