Reluctantly had to stay here after original hotel had cancelled our booking due to flooding. Unfortunately it meant we had to pay a further £125 each to stay here for the 3 nights for the Bloodstock Festival weekend instead. The price gouging is shocking, over 4 times the standard price of a 3 night stay, yet the quality stays well below sub par.
The beds are uncomfy and small, my feet were hanging off and I'm only 5'9". The hand soap dispenser in the bathroom wasn't working and when informing the receptionist their solution was to simply supply us with a grubby paper cup with soap in it. One of the days our towels were replaced but left on the desk next to our used tea mugs and empty brewing supplies, just blatantly ignored because I assume it would've been too much effort to restock and replace the tea mugs for our use the next morning.
The signal in this place is awful, couldn't get anything, couldn't make phone calls etc. and we wasn't willing to pay for the overpriced WiFi despite already paying £600 for the absolute privilege of staying in this decrepit establishment. On the website food is advertised to include "cornflakes, a pain au chocolat and an oaty flapjack snack to keep you powered until lunch..." Which is a lie, nothing of the sorts on offer except a vending machine that wants £1.70 for a Twix.
Probably works well for a quick overnight stop for a long journey if all you want to do is sleep rough before getting back on the road. Outside of that,...
Read moreI normally do not like complaining but after spending 3 nights that i couldnt wait to end i feel like this is the only way of letting go of what im feeling inside. It was a rough start with the room keys not being found upon checking in and having to wait for a while at the reception, the receptionist did their best to address the situation swiftly.
This got to be my worst Travelodge experience. I couldn't even sleep properly the passageway door kept on banging atill as late as midnight , 1am ( thought fire doors dont get banged as they have their special shutting mechanism , guess l was wrong) every other minute despite putting a DO NOT DISTURB sign it still never worked. Asked one of the staff and they seem to be quite aware that it is the passageway door that makes so much noise and yet guests are placed in that room(Room 40 to be precise).
Also had to wake up early morning to staff laughing and talking out loud just outside my room with doors banging as well as the trains that make so much noise nearby.
Rooms are dusty and I have allergies, woke up to blocked nose for the duration of my stay despite sleeping with the...
Read moreFirst & importantly… Demi & Evie. What service-excellence role models are these two young professionals ! Demi greeted us with an energy, intent and positivity that was literally remarkable and thereafter gave us tip top recommendations regarding dining options. She listened to our requirements and was considered in her response. 10/10. Such a great attitude. And Evie today couldn’t have been more engaged and determined in helping out with some email issues. Again, a terrific attitude. In the background was Kelly who was equally friendly. The place itself is somewhat tired and in need of a total refresh. But value wise, at £50 for the room, you can’t expect too much. But things like chairs at the back of reception that need either chucking or upholstering are unsightly and perhaps symptomatic of a business whose profits are squeezed and who values need reviewing. Directions to the place are abysmal and once found, going out and getting back again is confusing, particularly given that you’re somewhat locked in by the fast moving A38 ! So stand out service. OK rooms. Senior management need...
