My friend and I called in at the cafe and opted for an outdoor table as we had my dog with us. We perused the menu and settled upon the afternoon tea tea for two. We were welcomed by friendly staff on our arrival. On the day there was only the option of brown bread - which was fine and there wasn't any sponge cake left, however, we were offered brownie as a substitute, though when I spied the millionaires shortbread and asked could we have that instead, the response was 'yes of course'. ( A rather delicious substitution in my book 😁) Service was great, we were one of 8 tables of diners at the time. We were served with the pots of tea first before the main event arrived. The finger sandwiches were great, with a handful of crisps to crunch and the tomatoes on the vine were oh so sweet and delicious, the wedges of crusty pork pie were on the generous size ( perfect as my dog was looking up at me hopefully!) the fruited scones with (the best clotted cream) Rhodda's clotted cream and little jars of raspberry jam ( nice change from the usual strawberry jam option) were perfect. The millionaires shortbread was delightful. Portion size was ideal, good value for money. Will definitely visit again soon. would have loved a bottomless teapot as really fancied an extra cup of hot...

Barton Marina is a delightful destination with something for everyone. You'll find beautiful scenery and peaceful canals that wind through the marina, offering stunning views of the lakes and surrounding wildlife. It's a birdwatcher’s dream—ducks, geese, and an array of local birds make every walk feel immersive and serene.
Beyond the natural charm, Barton Marina offers a great selection of shops for leisurely browsing. Whether you're in search of gifts, outdoor gear, or home décor, there’s plenty to explore.

Read moreLovely clean, plenty of parking, dog friendly and easy to get to location, offering bars, restaurants, small cinema experience, open grass fields, boating and of course a lovely marina. Kids friendly - plenty of non electronic fun to be had - lake walks, football in the fields and other local events etc. Parking is free and ample sized bays for even our Galaxy to have space (unusual for us!). Wheel chair friendly too - nice smooth ramps and easy access routes to every shop or facility. Local toilets at end of marina are clean and well cared for. Lovely place to spend a few hours basking in the sun, playing frisbee, riding bikes, stuffing ice cream and sausage rolls (from the butcher's - totally recommend the sausage rolls and scotch eggs!). Coffee is delicious from the butcher's too! There's a Thai restaurant which looked really good but we haven't tried that - yet! Recommended location - just off A38 at Barton...
