Buchan Hotel — Hotel in Great Britain

We used to visit Buchan hotel for a carvery quite often before covid hit and it was always enjoyable. We decided to make the trip out and went in for a Carvery today. Overall it was ok. |We arrived, got our table and drinks orders. We opted for the carvery. Offer was beef or pork, I asked for both. It is all served for you now, don’t get to help yourself to any part of it so you just have to take what you get. Got 1 slice of each meat, 1 pig in blanket and a yorkshire pudding. |The vegetables consisted of a couple of different medleys, one with green beans, tenderstem broccoli and leeks, and one with carrots, parsnips and Pickled onions (but weird) |Roast tatties, boiled tatties, skirlie, gravy and spiced veg purée. |Overall the food tasted nice and was enjoyable. |Didn’t really understand what the point in having a carvery was if it’s plated for you, may as well just order and it get plated in the kitchen. |Atmosphere felt a bit tense, there was more staff than customers with 6 or 7 staff all standing just waiting for something to do which made it feel a little awkward. Service was fine but just felt tense. ||Overall food was nice enough but wouldn’t say we will rush back for a plated for you carvery. ||We never ordered any desserts, desserts were priced at £7.25 each, so for the 2 of us that would have added on another £14.50 to the bill. Which for 2 plated carverys and 2 juices it came to £37.90 as it was. We weren’t made aware of any deals that most other carvery’s have like 2 courses for a set price so that’s why we just left it. ||When going to pay the 2 guys at the bar area did look at us then walk away leaving us standing there looking around until one of the ladies came over and...

For our 58th wedding anniversary we visited the Buchan Hotel Restaurant at lunchtime. We were so disappointed. Before booking we checked to see if they catered for dairy free meals and was told yes. The menu was extensive with the choice of carvery as it was a Sunday and 5 out of 7 of our party opted for the carvery. However our dairy free daughter was extremely limited to what she could have. The boiled potatoes was swimming in butter, the turnip was mashed with butter, the cabbage was shredded and had butter added and the Yorkshire pudding was also a no-no as it contained milk. She ended up with two small slices of turkey a few roast potatoes but not other vegetable. But give the staff their due they came with boiled potatoes without butter. The rest of us who had the carvery was also disappointed as we had the roast beef which was so tough to cut most of us left it. Portions were also very small and for 2 soups, 5 carvery meals (one slice of roast beef, one slice of turkey), 2 steak pies, soft drinks and a few coffees we paid the princely sum of £177.00. Sadly the lunch was way below standard and not good value for money.|On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and attentive and have to be congratulated. |Sadly I would not recommend this restaurant and we certainly will not...

We have visited this lovely hotel for the past 2 years .for food on a regular basis ..twice a week!. but after visiting tonight ..WILL NOT BE BACK ...the two waiters on tonight , were not very welcoming at all .. they new nithing about the food we asked about ...My chicken burger came out burnt . My husband took this over to the waiters and asked to change my meal. To which the waiter then came back to our table and told me that there was nothing wrong with the chicken and was quite rude in my opinion.. I have worked in hospitality before and you do not take this attitude with customers. When my husband then went on to say it tasted burnt he just walked away , saying something under his breath .. my food was brought out ..to which by this point we didn't even want to be in here..so we left our drinks plus food .paid for the food we had ..no apology from the said waiter.. after being in here the past 2 years we couldn't want for better waiting girls .. Teresa and the other girls are just great and very welcoming ..but tonight will be our very last night ..VERY POOR SERVICE...
