What a disgraceful response to my feedback, I called at 2230 on the Sunday evening completely sober, but this type of comment further shows the level of the person offering accommodation, given they would put a libellous comment on a public forum such as this. Given the lack of respect shown to my wife I was trying to get some kind of response. All calls now blocked and refund still not received so I will now pursue with Highland Council and Visit Inverness. At no point did we expect a hotel, we were clear what was being booked, that said, as previously intimated the website is nothing like a true reflection on what you will receive as a customer. However, given a charge of £66 for the night I would imagine that most customers would expect at least a property which is clean, a front door system which means that no random people can walk in at any time and a property which does not pose a fire risk with rubbish, wood, discarded white goods and a mattress sitting up against the external wall of the property. I have tried to upload the videos taken but unfortunately the system does not allow me to do so? Will look to get the stills uploaded to show that the proprietors comments in response to mine are unfounded and a poor attempt to recover from an extremely sub standard level of service on all accounts. If this person is happy to provide this standard of service under false pretences then that is entirely up to them. Rightly or wrongly (for other possible customers), I would not have pursued this had the service provider been accepting of our complaint and the refund been forthcoming. In all honesty the £66 is of no consequence to me now, I do however, dislike misrepresentation of a product which is being sold within a beautiful part of our country where I have never known anything but the highest level of...
Read moreWe tried to cancel the hostel the same day due to a change of plans, the owner said that he would charge us (full price) so we decided to just go and make the moneys worth. The hostel was nice, clean and the manager (Deborah) was pleasant and friendly to us. We were told that we would be saying in the ´Hobbit Room´ outside, at first this sounded cool and we were excited for a different experience to usual hostels. However, I can honestly say we had one of the worst nights of staying in hostels/hotels, and for that reason I would never recommend that anybody would choose to stay in this room. Due to the lack of contact from the manager on asking for the refund, I would recommend avoiding this hostel completely. The beds in the Hobbit Room are made from plastic, so uncomfortable, definitely not worth 17 pounds a night each. We were awoken at 12am by an invasion of small beetles and bugs, we thought that they were harmless at first but the German man who was sharing the room was covered in bites and he had to leave the room and go sleep on the sofa in the living room. Crazy. We did not sleep for even half an hour, and when we woke up we told Deborah of our experience and she apologised and said "it has never happened before", but looking at the reviews it really seemed like it had. We contacted the owner again twice afterwards to ask for a refund but he never even had the decency to contact us or give us an apology. The worst customer service, which is a shame because it has potential to be a great hostel.
We will definitely not be returning and I would advise anyone to think twice about spending this amount...
Read moreTotal hell hole! The pictures we saw on their website were brilliant..nice rooms and big beds. I booked a 4 bed dorm for myself and 3 friends. When we got there we were shown to a place worryingly referred to as 'the pod'. 'The pod' was basically a posh shed or hobbit hole in the garden. The 'beds' consisted of a few grotty bed sheets on wafer-thin piss-proof matresses. One of the beds was a double..lucky my girlfriend was there but we had not told anyone that when I made the booking...I had just booked for 4 people. I spent an uncomfortable night sweating into the mattress. Going to the toilet in the middle of the night involved leaving the pod...walking through the garden and into the main building..which btw..is basically someone's house! The next morning we awoke to find my friend has been eaten alive in the middle of the night...see the review below this one..clearly he wasn't the first victim. When we left we were told they accept cash only which I find odd to say the least. Whilst there a woman had arrived and it transpired the hostel had double booked them. All in all avoid this place..The pictures on their website are great...but they certainly didn't put up any...
