What a dump. Don't even consider staying here. Did I mention it was a dump? Oh yeah you'll think it's a great location, close to everything, yes, but it's a dump, I'll add some pictures if you don't believe me. I've been camping and campervanning for over 20 years and I've never been in a dump like this before. Read the other reviews about the toilet and shower blocks, they're like a Kazakhstani prison, they should have been bulldozed and condemned in the 70's and yet here they are, still flogging them. 4 toilet blocks and every one of them a disaster. No hot water when you want it, showers don't work properly, toilet doors with multiple stab marks from 14 different locks fitted in the last century and all broken, ceiling caving in, a half arsed paint job done by primary school children, I absolutely wouldn't even stay here again if it was free! The electric hook-up is overpriced and has dodgy looking boxes to plug into, plus it was miles from my pitch. I've never used my 20m extension cable since I bought it, but I had to use it here to hook up to a working box close enough to my pitch. The grass hadn't been cut in about 3 weeks by the look of it, there were discarded BBQs and gas canisters lying around the periphery and my wife asked for a small favour from the guy behind the desk and got told off because it was apparently unreasonable. The water point near where we were looks like it was drilled from a well in the 1920s, and the Wi-Fi was rubbish, I was actually startled they had any tbh.
So in summary, stay somewhere else, anywhere, absolutely anywhere else, don't say I didn't warn you, this is a Dump with...

I stayed at Bught Caravan Park & Campsite a month or so ago and was very disappointed with the quality of the facilities on offer. There is really no excuse for shower/toilet blocks to be in such a state. There are campsites in much more remote areas of Scotland that are infinitely better than the dated, squalid offering that I had to endure at this place. Urinals were taped off, toilets were broken, and the showers looked so horrendous that the safest option was simply not to wash at all. It looked like a crime scene; the lurid yellow and brown walls only added to the horror. And that was just one block. The other that I ventured into later in the evening had no shower at all, just a few grubby sinks (I was at least able to use one of these to get ready for bed). In the morning, however, the aforementioned block seemed to have been massacred. Tiles had been ripped off the walls and just about nothing in the place was accessible. There were, strangely, no signs to state that any building work was being carried out.
Perhaps the park is finally being updated and this was the start of much needed maintenance? One can only hope—I didn’t stay long enough to find out more. Unless this site really does revamp the shoddy concrete boxes that are supposed to pass for places of sanitation it’s highly unlikely that I would opt to come back.
The one star rating reflects the only redeeming feature of this campsite: the fact that it is at least *somewhere to stay with a tent that's within reasonable walking distance of the city (options are...
Read moreWe genuinely ran away.
Man at the reception was nice, very helpful, but when we arrived later on to eat dinner and pitch our tent, we soon realised what we'd strapped ourselves in for. For a start, a man in a high vis jacket wandered up to our car and questioned us, despite the fact we had our pay/display ticket on the dash. Unsettled by both this encounter and the location (slap bang in the middle of a housing estate), we decided to check out the facilities. Big mistake. They're like something out of World War Two and are deeply unsanitary due to how run down and outdated they are. It really is a bit of a disgrace the owners have the audacity to charge money to stay here - if you're in a caravan and have your own facilities at hand then I guess it's serviceable, but absolutely avoid if you're in a tent and want a shower. We had been camping in the Highlands for the previous four nights and were desperately looking forward to a refresh, so imagine our disappointment. Not to mention the frankly audacious set of rules we were given after we'd handed over our £25 for the night.
We eventually settled on finding another Campsite not too far away, and it was a much more pleasant stay with fantastic facilities. Bught Caravan Park can keep our money, not that we could even attempt a refund as reception was closed.
Avoid,...
