Disappointing revisit unfortunately. We stayed in the cottage separate to the main house, which we stayed in before a couple of years ago. I'm not sure if the guest house has changed hands since our last visit but the second time round wasn't as good. The size of the cottage is great and it's nice having private space away from the main building, however there were certain areas that were looking a bit grubby and unloved, the banister at the top of the stairs could do with a wipe over and the mirrored furniture in the bedroom was cracked in multiple places. During our previous stay there were a couple of cans of pop in the fridge which was a nice touch, but that is not the case anymore. It was very cold when we visited and unfortunately we just couldn't get warm, even with the heaters on. It would have been helpful to have a couple of blankets for the seating area downstairs (rather than having to drag the duvet down from upstairs.) The duvet cover did have some unknown marks on it and unfortunately we found a fake eyelash stuck to the bottom too, not the nicest. There is also a green light that beams into the bedroom from the fire/emergency light, which we don't recall being a problem before, but it was particularly bright and did disrupt our sleep. I understand the emergency lighting is there for a reason but maybe could have been positioned better. The bathroom is huge and very clean with plenty of toilet roll etc so no issues there. Overall we were disappointed that our revisit wasn't as good as our last visit and we probably won't stay here again, even though the location is great. Such a shame!

Absolute gem of a place! The rooms are beautiful and well appointed, the bathrooms are lovely, the breakfasts are served in hampers and are totally delicious. It's in a wonderful location - you are in the centre of Bowness in minutes. The hosts are super friendly and can not do enough for you. I would highly recommend Latimer House to anybody, we will 100% be returning 😊 Just been back for our 2nd visit, this time we stayed in the 'coach house' cottage, what can I say, honestly after last time we didn't think it could be topped, well, it absolutely was, we love it here, just a fabulous fabulous place, Christine is the perfect host, love her! I can not recommend Latimer House highly enough, if you have never been before then you are missing out, do it, honestly just do it 👌👌👌

I booked room with balcony, The place is very cozy, the view incredible! They answer everything by whatsaap very quickly by June she is a sweetheart 🤍🤍 she helped us in everything start by give us recommendations to restaurants to book a taxi for us! And she changed the room after facing problem with water! Very special location from the lack also the centre 15-20mins walk! Note: Small issue that’s there is limiting on the hot water 🚿and they don’t allow to bring take-way food inside.. Special thanks to June 🤍!

Travelled with my partner for a 2 night stay in Windermere - stayed in room 7 ground floor. ||Perfectly placed, close to the lake with plenty of pubs, shops and restaurants around. ||Easy to get to and no problem parking. ||Codes to enter the house and rooms are sent by Latimer House - quick, easy and convenient to use. ||The heating is on a timer, which is understandable for the size of the house. We found the temp ok in our room. Would recommend to bring pjs/dressing gown if you tend to get chilly. ||Room was spacious with a large bed, 2 large chairs and table to sit and relax. Plenty of tea/coffee with a kettle in the room to make your own which was handy. ||Double doors which led out to a generous space with a nice relaxed view, chairs and table were there to use - it rained a lot during our stay so didn't get a chance to use them but would've been lovely to pop outside if the weather was a bit nicer.||Bathroom was modern, and shower was fine. Heater in the bathroom to warm towels. ||Bath sheets and hand towels on the bed on arrival. ||One point which was not really an issue - eyelashes were left on the table next to the bed. Assuming from previous guests - popped them in the bin. |Curtains could do with being washed/replaced - slightly grubby around the doors/windows but I think this would be due to the age of the house rather than house keeping not being up to scratch. |Our score reflects this. ||Overall, we would definitely stay again. Perfect location, not badly priced, good size rooms and a great break in...

On first impressions the room looked welcoming and spacious. The check in procedure was quite slick, although it’s difficult to find someone to speak to. As we settled in, we found the heating wasn’t on and there was no way of getting it to come on. On day 2 a member of staff tried to get in our room so we asked about the heating. They said they would sort it but didn’t. In the shower room, there was no hot water to the basin for the duration of our 2 night stay. The mirror was situated so high, we could only see the top of our heads. We are average height of 5ft 5. The shampoo/shower gel was situated on the sink, due to there being nowhere in the shower for it. There was no rails or hooks in the entire room, so nowhere for your towels or clothes. No toilet roll holder for our single loo roll, for 3 days!! We sent an email re the loo roll and got a prompt response to go and take some from the staff toilet!||In the bedroom, the mattress was appalling, really poor quality with the springs easily felt, and the duvet and pillows were very thin. Therefore not a good night’s sleep. No additional blankets or pillows and only 1 hand towel between us. ||The positives were the large tv, with access to Prime, Netflix etc, the amount of space and the decent toiletries and refreshments. Excellent location...
