Never been so happy to get lost at breakfast time. We originally had another location in mind and we couldn’t find it. We walked past this place and heard the great music outside, looked like an interesting menu & decided to go in. I’m not a breakfast person by any means but we came to Windermere for a short holiday and this breakfast sent us home smiling. There was only 1 front of house staff at the time so he was a little pre occupied but very friendly & managed well. We ordered 2 poached eggs on toast, Eggs Royale, Pancakes & their Urban Fried Chicken. For the price we saw we weren’t expecting much but when it arrive they were huge portions of high quality food. Everything was perfect! The eggs were cooked lovely, their homemade bread was amazing. The urban fried chicken was outstanding super crispy fluffy French toast with a chorizo jam which was unbelievably good packed with flavour and added that great sweet salty flavour that I love. All in all a great dining experience in a fantastic location. We saw they have some sister restaurants close by and so can’t wait to try those out too!! Will definitely be heading back!!

Our order was: 2 x oat milk latte, 1 x decaf tea, 1 x flat white 1 x 2 poached eggs on toast 1 x egg royale 1 x urban fried chicken 1 x pancake stack With 10% discretionary service...

Do not visit if you have allergies.

Visited with my friend who is deathly allergic to eggs and nuts. Informed the waiter of this, and asked to see the allergen menu which we checked thoroughly. Also asked our waiter to double check with the kitchen after ordering, and heard him inform the chefs of her allergies. After a few mouthfuls of her food, she had an allergic reaction and we had to call 999 and give her an EpiPen. They had not labelled eggs on their allergen menu, and had not double checked with the kitchen over her order. The chefs told us they had not been informed of her specific order and therefore hadn't checked. There is absolutely NO excuse for this, and could have resulted in death, but thankfully we were lucky and this was not the case.

I recommend the restaurant implement much stricter allergen controls, and any change to the recipe and ingredients need to be implemented AFTER updating allergen list. It is a legal requirement to have this, but there is no point if it is not correct.

The manager did take her name and number, and we did not have to pay for our food, however this does not make up for the mistake made. Do not allow this to happen again. You could have all been responsible for a...

Just had an amazing meal at Urban Food House for the first time. We come to Bowness fairly often but hadn't come across them before until searching for somewhere different to eat earlier today. I cannot fault the meal, service or ambience at all. We only booked our Table with about 45 mins notice. The staff where all welcoming, friendly and couldnt do enough to help. Especially the owner, who we had a lovely chat with as well. Really friendly, hardworking man who deserves every success really. I had the Chicken Supreme Linguine meal and my Boyfriend had the Buttermilk Chicken Burger, both fantastic, we ate every bite plus sides. We where pleased to hear they also do breakfast as well as lunch and dinner so we will definifely be back. Great prices too and really lovely vibe, feels like a cool cafe restaurant you would find in London. It was also spotlessly clean with hand sanitiser and track and trace in place. The staff cleaned every table in between and after use and all staff wore masks. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back. Thank you for a...

We ate here as a couple on a weeknight after browsing through a few options in Bowness. Surroundings are nice and the place looks welcoming from outside. It wasn't busy on our visit and so service was prompt and efficient. The menu looked good but the food was I'm afraid a bit of a disappointment. It wasn't terrible, but neither was it particularly good and we both left underwhelmed. We had meze to start; it was fine but something equally I felt I could've made at home pretty easily to a similar standard with supermarket ingredients. This was followed by the supposedly charred cauliflower steak. I found this a bit dry and underseasoned and the curried aubergine it came with tasted overly acidic and not particularly pleasant. Our other main was the confit leek and applewood cheese bake, not an awful dish but a bit bland and heavy. Overall price was as expected in a tourist spot but we felt not good value for the food quality.

Firstly, Nathan - absolute LEGEND! A very attentive, polite waiter, a really great lad. We really enjoyed out trip to the lakes and places like Urban Food House helped massively. We have a sausage dog and many places around Windermere surprisingly don't let you in with a dog. At Urban Food our dog was made to feel welcome, Nathan found us a table with space and then got the dog a water bowl, happy days. We were by the kitchen, really happy bunch, I preferred their music to the restaurant music, was great to feed off of their happiness, loved it. One day we came in for mussels and we were too early, as a one off they discussed with the chef and served the Mrs mussels and they were incredible. Good food, good service, good beer = good times. THANKS TEAM AND THANKS NATHAN!
