A series of unfortunate events at Legoland adventure woodland village.
We booked this weekend away as an over the top all out birthday weekend away as we paid extra to have a VIP Package for our 8 Year old son who also suffers with ADHD. After having a great first day at Legoland resort our issues started with clubhouse. Problems with Dinner: 5pm dinner reservations 5.05pm Order was taken, supposedly 5.15pm Order was retaken wrong 5.30pm One Pizza was served at 5.30pm 5.40pm 2nd dish was wrong with no sight of third dish. 5.50pm Asked to speak to a manager and was told that our dishes would be right out. 6.15pm finally three dishes come out however two dishes wrong along with burger undercooked and cold chips. 6.20pm finally our 8yo has his Spaghetti Bolognese
6.25 the shift Manager kindly refunded the cost of the meal however with a 8 month old and a plan to play golf before bedtime this massively set back our evening.
Problems with the lodge 7.15pm issue with shower, shower screen not sealed properly causing it to leak across the whole bathroom floor spoiling wash bag and clothes. 7.30pm curtain to kids bedroom, the pole fails almost hitting my son in the head and walked to reception to report the issue. Which turns out that it was nearly just screwed into the plasterboard with no fixings.
7.45pm spoke to a manager called Josh about the issues and was offered vouchers and told if needed anything further to email customer services. Was advised that a contractor would be right out to resolve the issue. 8.05pm Maintenance man arrives to assess the issue and at 8.15pm returned to repair the curtain bracket insufficiently as curtain bracket fell within minutes of leaving just by moving the curtain lightly. During this time having to take out 8 month old for a walk due to being woken up because of the noise 8.30pm returned to help desk to advise of issue and told that contractors would be out to sort the issue.
8.45pm new maintenance contractors turn up to finally resolve the issue to a decent strength however a hideous sight. But in doing so waking up our 8 month old in process due to noise and light.
8.55pm discussed the issues with duty manager Joel and was told that if we needed anything that he would ‘sort us out’ and not to worry too much as their are others in a similar but not quite so severe situations (as an attempt to lesser the impact) and said we would get back to him after speaking to my partner.
Now contractors left with dirt and debris spread over the floor although offering to come back and clean up but it now being 9pm and with an 8 month old being two hour past bedtime we said that we would sort it.
9pm requested to speak to Joel through the QR service as fed up of walking to reception just to speak to someone never contacted back at this point we have now completely lost faith.
To add the cherry on top, bring you’re own travel cot, luckily we did but only remembering that we did after many hours of trying to put our son down on the one that was provided free of charge however it feels like it’s filled with concrete but putting the disrupted sleep down to the events of evening, Once we set up own our travel cot at 2am he was out like a light for a solid 5 hours.
And finally, 7.45am Fire alarm went off while queuing for breakfast in the clubhouse, firstly told just to take a seat quick and then told to use any exit no instructions for assembly points the is a simple compulsory requirement for any hospitality.
Now I fully understand that there are always issues with new builds as we were told that this was the opening weekend for the woodland village however, I do feel that given the egregious prices we paid for the lodge and experiences they should not come at our cost nor by having the whole...
Read moreDon’t waste your money! I never write review so please take the time to read the below before booking.
Accommodation- Cute lodges but incredibly badly designed and shabby already. We stayed in a larger two storey lodge and it’s completely unfit for purpose. The children’s room on the ground floor next to the lounge has no door, just a thin curtain. You therefore can’t use the lounge past their bedtime, this is evidentially because the third, trundle bed under the bunks would clash with a door. Additionally the mattresses on the children’s beds are, I’m certain, prison cell mattresses as they’re covered in plastic causing your children to be sweaty and uncomfortable as there is no mattress protector just a thin sheet on-top. We have slept on many sofa beds as we often travel as an extended family and the one in this accommodation is beyond shocking, please do not consider using it as sleeping space even for a single child. The sofa bed is so noisy it will keep the rest of the party up as there are no doors between the children’s room, lounge or mezzanine bedroom…basically you might as well be sharing one room! If you are sleeping on the mezzanine or on the sofa bed you’ll be kept up all night be the incredibly bright street lights right outside your front door which aren’t turned off or dimmed at all (it also shines into the children’s room through the curtain) as there is a window into the lounge and mezzanine at high level which has no curtains so there is no means for blocking this light out. The person/people who designed and project managed this development should be held accountable.
Food- it is edible but pre-made and twice the price of the standard high street. It’s £20 for the basic burger which would be a bit better than a Mac Donald’s standard but not as good as whetherspoons.
The park- it’s really shabby and grimy in places. We came off peak season but ride waits were still excessive. I’m not sure why it’s called legoland as there isn’t any Lego, where there are places to play Lego there are barely any pieces and it’s not kept clean. About 30-40% of the rides weren’t running. Half of the interactive scenes, mini land don’t work properly and/ broken.
Communication- the bombardment of emails ever since booking our stay has been overwhelming. They failed to make any key information easy to find and instead everything was just a hard sell for additional extras. If you do book any additional items they all end up being cancelled at the last minute.
Advice- the LEGO discovery centre is Birmingham is a much better LEGO experience, whilst it’s much smaller it’s really well run and much more interactive. Legoland is basically just a generic run down theme park with a slight LEGO theme whilst being even more inflated in price. It would be worth considering staying at the lodges at the West Midlands safari park, whilst they’re more expensive they are luxury accommodation with dinner included and access to the park on both days so much, much, much better...
Read moreIn order to provide the best overview, I feel that the accommodation and clubhouse need to be explained separately. I would have rated 1 star if it wasn't for the accommodation, surrounding area being so good and manager Ben.
We went as a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children (aged 8 and 5).
The Woodland Village Clubhouse really let down the experience. We were seated quickly, but it took a very long time before we were approached to have our order taken. This also meant we had to wait without anyone even offering to take a drinks order.
The food arrived quickly, but we didn't feel that it was worth the price it cost. Furthermore, the service was definitely not. Additionally, our order was wrong (requested no tomato on burger or onion relish, but it arrived with it).
To be very blunt, our server, Hannah, spent more time wandering around talking to her colleagues instead of cleaning tables, taking orders, or being honest, doing anything that would be in her job description.
My partner had to walk up to the kitchen and interrupted the group of servers that were gathered around chatting in order to get their attention and tell them about the issue with the order being incorrect. Their way of resolving with was to take the tomato off it, and scrape of the onion relish, then send it out again.
After this, we noticed the table next to us complaining to the manager, Ben. Hannah then came over to our table and started clearing our plates (that had already been sitting there for a good while). Rather than paying attention to what she was doing, she was listing to the tables complaint, which resulted in her knocking drinks and spare cutlery.
We also told Ben we would like to speak to him about the service we had received once he had finished with the other table.
While waiting, we observed Hannah walking around talking to one colleague, then walking off and speaking to another, when there was plenty of tables that needed to be cleared, and customers waiting to have their order taken. It appeared that she was doing a very poor job of making herself look busy without actually being busy.
There were more servers standing around talking than cleaning tables or taking orders, so the issue wasn't limited to Hannah.
But Ben was fantastic and listened to our complaint whilst being very professional. If only there were more like him, the service would be deserving of the amount charged and a tip. After he made us feel heard, we left feeling a little less annoyed about the service we had received.
Aside from the poor service, the lego building area was much loved by the kids. And the nearby park.
In terms of the accommodation itself, it couldn't be faulted. It was decorated beautifully, the shower had great water pressure, and the presents provided when figuring out the code. This was a...
